Chapter Text
Changbin sat down on the examination table, his knees swinging nervously. He doesn’t like this doctor's office, and doesn’t want to be here. He shouldn’t have to be here. The smell of this room smells like disinfectant, and has no other scents. It’s not comforting, just cold and devoid of anything.
His thoughts are interrupted by the door opening, and a man appears in the room. Changbin can tell it’s the doctor, and gets even more stressed.
“You’re Seo Changbin, correct?” The man said, his scent smells like a Beta. Changbin doesn’t feel comforted with that information.
“Yes, sir.” He exhales shakily.
“What’s your secondary gender?” The doctor says, not looking up once from his paperwork.
A beat of silence happens.
“…Omega.” Changin said with a tone of defeat.
The doctor finally looks up. He eyes Changbin a little, doesn’t say anything. Changbin chalks it up to him being a more muscular build than an average omega.
“I’m Doctor Ryu and I’m here to assess you on why you need to be here.” The beta calmly sits down in his chair behind the desk, and gently folds his hands together. “This is needed so we can be sure you want to take the next steps.”
Changbin nods his head in confirmation.
“Now, why are you here today? Why did you decide to make an appointment?” Changbin rings his hands together, trying to take his mind off this situation.
“I’m uh- I’m here to spend my heat here, with a service alpha.” Changbin answers slowly, and admits with shame. His head ducked low.
The doctor nods, but pauses.
“It says on your file that you already have an alpha, correct?” Doctor Ryu says slowly, to make sure Changbin is making the right decision.
“Yes sir, I do.” Changbin swallowed. It felt like lead was pouring in his stomach.
“I have to ask this question but- why are you here instead of with your alpha?” The doctor addressed.
“We got into a big fight, and we haven’t spoken in almost a week. I don’t know if he even wants me anymore.” Changbin answered, sniffing a couple times. His eyesight turns blurry with tears.
Doctor Ryu nods with a sad smile, and tries to let out a calming and reassuring scent. It works little for Changbin.
“It seems that your scent has been stressed induced because of the fight.” The doctor says, which pissed Changbin off. Of-fucking-course his heat is stress induced— why else would he be here? He would never come here willingly.
Changbin suspects his scent turned sour. The doctor he was assigned tensed up just a bit, where it was noticeable, but didn’t say anything.
“Do you remember what the fight was about?” He coughed, trying to change the subject.
Changbin freezes up. He shakily nods his head yes, but is afraid to admit what they fought about.
The doctor waits a bit, before speaking; “Changbin, by law I have to ask these questions. If you require a service alpha for your heat, then I have to know your reasoning. Or else I can’t help you.”
A hiccup escapes Changbin, and then the tears start flowing. Once they escape, he can’t stop them. Changbin scent becomes yearnful, and depressed, begging for his alpha to come back.
“It started because of me,” He let out. “You see, we’re both very famous singers, and we’re in this group with six other people, our friends.” Changbin adds on.
Doctor Ryu nods his head in a way that let’s Changbin know he’s listening.
“And we get like no time off, me and my alpha— seungmin, all eight of us. So it can be stressful for us. But for me it felt like there’s been something missing, for us two. I’ve been thinking about it for a long time, even before our argument.” Changbin gulps.
“I- I want a pup.” He responds, anxiously. Changbin choked on those words, the same way he did while arguing with Seungmin.
The doctor’s eyes squinted a little, seemingly analyzing the omega, but otherwise he showed nothing else.
“I’ve wanted one probably since two years ago. I know that’s not a lot of time to think about it, but for me it’s enough. So I decided to finally ask Seungmin about the topic. I thought he was onboard with what I wanted, too.”
A beat passes,
“But it turned out he wasn’t. He rejected what I said, and told me ‘Changbin, we have no time for ourselves, what makes you think we can have a pup?’ And it felt like my heart sank. I’ve given him subtle hits about me wanting a pup before, so I was genuinely shocked that he rejected it.”
Changbin wipes his tears that are sliding down his cheeks.
The doctor reached over the desk to hand him a tissue box. Changbin accepts it gratefully.
“I got defensive when he rejected the idea. I said, ‘We can ask the agency for a hiatus after the pup was born, or even before that! Then we can have time for ourselves.’ But he wouldn’t listen to me, he said ‘The agency would never allow it, and besides, my focus right now is the band. I can’t handle a pup at this time. I don’t even want a pup now.’ And that hurt me, something I wanted for a long time, and he rejected it.” Changbin whimpered.
He couldn’t picture himself not becoming a parent, and he wanted to become that with Seungmin.
Changbin felt silly for crying over something like this, but he really wants a pup. He yearns for it, a little mini him or a mini Seungmin is all he wants.
“You’re allowed to want what you want, Changbin.” The doctor says, pulling Changbin out of his head.
“We argued more after that, but I think you now know why I’m here.” Changbin huffed out a small, fragile chuckle. His mood is marginally better than before, his anger no longer directed at Doctor Ryu.
The doctor smiled, “Alright let me jot this down in your paperwork, let me get this right, you’re here to spend a heat with an alpha, or for you to have a pup with said alpha?” Doctor Ryu cleared his throat.
It felt like a bucket of cold water was dumped onto Changbin. Never in his entire life has he decided to have a pup with a different alpha, other than Seungmin. The doctor asking that question genuinely shocked him, and he got defensive. He wasn’t mad, just appalled by the question.
Changbin released a growl at the thought of having another alpha’s pup. He could never do that to Seungmin. Even though they are in a fight and haven’t spoken in almost a week, the thought of doing that to Seungmin breaks him.
The doctor released a calming scent, in an attempt to get Changbin to calm down. He didn’t need Changbin to get other patients riled up.
“Okay okay, just for the heat. I’ll make sure it states that in your paperwork, then we’ll get you situated in a room.” The doctor said very softly, and Changbin cools down once he realizes that he asked a standard question.
“I’m sorry— I don’t know what came over me.” Changbin replied with guilt.
The doctor chuckled, and said “Don’t worry, you’re not the first person who got offended by a question.”
“Alright, now, wait here and someone will come and get you. Thank you for waiting, have a nice day.” The doctor left with a little wave, and disappeared out the door.
Changbin was left on the cold examination table, waiting.
He knows why he came here, just to spend his heat with another alpha, but he can’t go through his heat alone. It’s so debilitating that he can’t leave his nest for anything, and Seungmin and him share a dorm with no one else.
Seungmin hasn’t been in their dorm for almost a week now, so it would make sense that he wouldn’t share his heat with him.
————————
A knock on the door pulled Changbin out of his thoughts, and it looked like a nurse this time.
“I just need to make sure, you’re Seo Changbin?” The woman said with a sweet voice, Changbin assumes she’s an omega with how her scent smells.
“Yes, that's me.” Changbin sheepishly answered, rubbing the back of his neck with his hand. His eyes cast downwards, and his arms wrapped around himself to seem smaller.
“Alright! Follow me this way please.” She said with a very cheery tone. Changbin felt a little safer with her around.
Changbin followed her out the room, and into the hallway. He could see other doctors walking past them, some of them in a rush. He tried to make his mind focused on something else rather than what he’s about to do.
God he feels like such a bad mate right now. Spending another heat with an Alpha, when he already has a mate— Changbin feels like such a jerk and disgusted with himself. How could he do this to Seungmin? Sure he left him for a week now, but that doesn’t warrant him to spend his heat with a random person.
The only reason he’s doing this is because his heats are so debilitating, and literally feels like he’s getting ripped apart and having lava poured into his insides.
His thoughts consume his mind until they reach a secluded area with a hallway, doors going along it.
A door opens, and Changbin realizes the woman opens it for him.
“You’re all set. Remember that you are in control of this, and if you want to back out you can press the button closest to the door.” She smiled sweetly at him.
A moment passed but Changbin still couldn’t enter the room. His hand fidgeted against the other to ease his anxiety; or attempt to.
The other omega can sense Changbin’s unease.
“You’ll be okay. You aren’t doing anything wrong.” She assured Changbin. She wanted to give his shoulder a squeeze, to tell him or give him a signal that he’ll be alright— that he isn’t doing the wrong thing—however she doesn’t. It’s not her place to say that, and touch him.
Even if she did comfort Changbin, he won’t change how he feels about this situation.
But that’s the thing, he is doing something horrible. He’s about to use a service alpha instead of his own alpha. That’s the utmost betrayal you can do to your mate.
Changbin nodded his head, even though he didn’t agree with her. He held his breath, and stepped inside.
Changbin was hit with an alpha scent he isn’t too fond of. It overwhelmed his nose, and his anxiety hitched up more.
God what did he get himself into.
