One Word Prompts

Summary:

Buck had a feeling there was a story there. No, he knew there was. He just wished Tommy would feel like Buck was worthy enough to hear it sometime.

But this time was different. This time there was an inferno in the room as Tommy slammed down what he’d been holding and whirled around on Buck so quickly it made Buck jump.

“He called you a what?” Tommy snarled.

Chapter 1: Stay + Bucktommy

Chapter Text

“Stay with me! Tommy! Tommyplease!” Buck didn’t even recognize his own voice. It was a shredded imitation of what his voice used to sound like. One ripped to pieces on the wreckage of metal and glass when he’s crawled into what’d been left of Tommy’s cockpit and dragged his heavy, lifeless ex-boyfriend from its cocoon. Tommy had been almost unresponsive then until his boot at caught on something and Buck had pulled too hard. Then he’d screamed and it was like a piece of the wreckage had pierced right through Buck’s heart and must have cut his voice because he didn’t sound like that normally. Buck didn’t… He didn’t sound…

But there’d been too much smoke. Way too much smoke. He’d had to get Tommy out before he suffocated or burned to death and then everything had fallen into fragments of moments as he pulled away the broken remains of Tommy’s helmet from Tommy’s head an assessed the damage.

There’d been so much blood. So much blood that Buck could practically taste it on the back of his tongue with the smoke and spilled fuel and singed grass and panic. Sharp, desperate panic that had wrapped around his throat like a noose the moment Tommy had clamped his teeth down on his lip to try and hold back his scream of pain because of course, even when he was bleeding out he was hiding. Because he was always hiding! He was always hiding and Buck knew he was choking on hysteria because it was like the whole fucking helicopter was crushing his chest when Tommy had smiled up at him, his skin a colorless grey, before he had gurgled out something that had sounded too much like his name but his eyes went unseeing then closed.

Buck didn’t know how he was supposed to breathe when he was too busy breathing for Tommy.

“Buck, let’s switch!”

Tears burned at the back of Buck’s eyes as he continued his compressions anyway. “Tommy! Stay! Please Tommy!”
