Summary
“Hello,” Damianos says, voice gruff with sleep and the aftermath of panic. There is a smile playing around his lips, the barest hint of a dimple on one of his cheeks. He looks soft, sleep-mussed, and not at all alarmed.
It’s insulting.
With a single swift movement, Laurent draws his knife from the sheath at his thigh and presses the tip of it to Damianos’ bared throat—not drawing blood, but threatening it. He uses the flat of the blade to tilt his head up.
“Not another word,” Laurent whispers, leaning down so his words brush against Damianos’ lips. “And don’t even think about calling for the guards.”

Summary
Damen's back burns with an unrelenting fury. Blood drips to the floor and pools beneath his bare feet. He's slipped more times than he can count, his hip crashing again and again into the whipping post they've bound him to.
It'll stain, he thinks blearily through the haze. It'll soak so deep into the porous concrete that nothing will ever be able to get the discoloration out. The entire warehouse will need to be renovated to hide what happened here.

Summary
Merlin learns, quickly, that it's much less painful to shove the shame deep, deep down and do as Arthur says. When commanded, he lies down at Arthur's feet, barks when told to speak, pulls his hands up to his chest and begs, even, when Arthur taunts him with a treat.

Summary
"It brings me no joy to have to resort to such measures," Lord de Vere says. The wine has stained his mouth blood-red. He dabs at it with a napkin. "But the older my nephew grows, the harder it becomes to ignore his… affliction."
Damen hums in vague agreement. "You mentioned a curse in your letter."
The missive arrived not a fortnight ago at the inn he was staying at. The messenger held it in his hands with something not unlike reverence and seemed unwilling to part with the parchment as Damen went to take it from him. The elder de Vere, it would appear, is well-liked in these parts.
The same cannot be said for his nephew.
"I'm sure you're aware of the Curse of the Black Sun," Lord de Vere says, quietly. His eyes wander the room as though he's making sure no one is around to hear. "My nephew was born on that unfortunate night, twenty years past."

Summary
Buck frowned. "I'm not high, Eddie, Jesus. Calm down."
"I can see your pupils," Eddie said. "Sit down, let me get you some water—"
"Jesus, Eddie," Buck snapped, pushing him away a little harder than Eddie figured he meant to. “You’re not my dad, and contrary to what everyone in that town apparently believed, you’re not my fucking boyfriend!”
or, a post-9x14 fic addressing addiction, substance abuse, and the experience of watching a loved one go through it

Summary
A person who listens to whatever inane, mundane shit Buck is incapable of not spouting? Actually listens, with interjected questions and regular mmhms of acknowledgement? Indulgent of every tangent, every spiel, unless Buck is actively sowing terror in the hearts of victims on calls with his worst-case scenario stories.
He has that person. Eddie. According to May, that makes Eddie his person, a thought that has a bloom of warmth unfurling in his chest.
It might not be romantic, but it’s—it’s something.
And it’s worth Buck trying to get back to who they were. When their shift is over, he follows Eddie home like he might’ve done a year ago.

Summary
“Eddie.” Maddie’s voice is soft as she pads into the room, slippers sinking into the fluffy rug. “I’ve got him whilst he’s sleeping, if you want to go home?”
Her hand settles on his shoulder, gently squeezing the tense muscle. Eddie shakes his head, digging his fingers harder into his legs.
“No,” he says, the word cracking in his throat. “No, um, I think I’ll stay.”
He can’t let Buck out of his sight. He just– He can’t.
Every time he looks away all he can see is Buck’s panicked eyes, the yellow pill bottle, Buck hunched over the toilet as tremors wracked through his body, chest spasming.
Buck looked so scared. He looked so scared.

Summary
When Bobby decided to send him and Buck on a three-night training session on fighting brush and wildfires, Eddie thought it would be at a hotel. Not a resort – he wasn't expecting a spa and a gourmet restaurant – but a basic-ass hotel would have been nice.
As they walk down the winding lane from the parking lot to their accommodations, Eddie's face falls.
“That is not a hotel,” he declares.

Summary
As he sat there feeling another man's wide mouth sucking his cock while Buck stared at him from across the room, his expression a mixture of desire and devastation, Eddie realized he might have taken this a little too far.
