Chapter Text
It was a grey, cloudy day. Samira Mohan was trudging slowly down the street to work, AirPods in to drown out her constant thoughts of turning around and going home. The recent shifts at the PTMC had felt particularly depressing as of late, each day more grueling than the last. Samira was still completely undecided on what to do for her fellowship, she couldn’t seem to fixate on one specific field. On the one hand, she seemed to particularly enjoy geriatrics, but would that just affirm Robby’s assumptions about her? She loved emergency medicine, but was she truly right for the job? After all, she was the type to easily crack under pressure. As these thoughts swam around in her mind, she almost automatically turned the corner, and pushed open the door to the PTMC.
The waiting room was completely stocked full of people, impatiently waiting to receive their care. She felt dartful eyes fixing their gaze on her as she walked in, and buzzed herself through the door into the locker room. Samira blindly punched in her locker code, and shoved her things inside. She looked in the mirror, running her fingers through her hair, scraping it back, in an attempt to look somewhat put together. She pulled a purple, stretchy headband out of her pocket, pulling her hair back tightly, pulling out two pieces at the front. As she attempted to try make herself look a little less zombie-like, she spotted some shuffling footsteps behind her locker.
She calmly closed her locker door, and looked to her right to see Jack Abbot. The sleeves of his scrub top gripped rightly on his upper arms, loosening around his waist. Samira could still make out the sharp, distinct outlines of his torso, thick and muscular. His soft, greying curls sprouted in tufts on the back of his head, thick enough for Samira to run her fingers through. Suddenly, Samira felt herself getting hotter the longer she stared, and sharply turned her head the other way.
“Doctor Mohan.” said Jack, a slither of a smirk creeping across his face.
“Doctor Abbot.” replied Mohan, the tension between them hanging dense in the air. Samira could see Abbots chest rising and falling, slowly, his ears turning a soft pink with fluster.
They stood between each other, bated breath, waiting for one of them to make the first move.
Samira and Jack have secretly been dating now for 10 months. The past 10 months with Jack had been some of the best of Samira’s life. He was a sweet, caring man, always thinking of her. He paid attention to the small things she liked, listened intently when she spoke, and at home practically worshipped the ground she walked on. He was also surprisingly skilled in the bedroom for someone twenty years her senior.
Jack also secretly loved being with Samira. Whenever he would have one of his episodes, often launching into a full on panic attack, Samira was there as a shoulder for him to lean on. Sometimes she would calm him down by holding him tightly, close to her chest. Other times, she would use her words to bring him back down to reality. And a few times, she simply sat in silence, listening carefully to his worries and doubts, understanding everything he had to say to her. Jack appreciated her company, when he was around her it was like a tremendous weight was lifted off his shoulders.
Jack stared down at Samira. Dark, thick curls of hair were wrapped in a low pony, strands creeping down to her back like vines. Her deep, brown skin was practically glowing underneath the lights, her arms glittering with the shimmer body oil she had used that morning. Samira turned to look up at Jack, her deep brown eyes sucking him in like a vortex.
“Supply room, 10 minutes.” Jack said, before quickly darting off to greet the rest of the staff.

Jack Abbot had Samira pinned against a wall, one hand digging into the wall, the other around her waist. His kiss was warm, deep, Samira could feel the warmth of his breath deep in her chest. As she rapidly breathed through her nose, attempting to catch her breath, she smelt the musty scent of dust in the supply room. She grasped the grey tufts of curls at the back of his head, and gripped tightly, pulling him in closer.
Samira pulled away for a moment, coming up for air, “Since when were you on the day shift?” she asked breathlessly.
“Only for today, then it’s back to the usual.” he grumbled, stroking Samira’s face gently.
“Awh, shame.” she smirked, pulling him in for another kiss.
Their bodies felt almost connected, each moment of their kiss bringing them closer and closer together until they almost seemed to morph. Samira could feel her cheeks glwoing red, heating up the more Jack pressed his lips into her. He pressed a small bite into her bottom lip, before pulling away.
“Try not to get distracted by me for the rest of the day.” He said, before pulling away, and walking off to start the shift.
Samira was left in the dusty old supply room, blushing from head to toe. Fuck, how hard it was going to be to keep herself together today.
