I want to see the bat in you

Summary:

Scott wants to see Owen as a bat, and finds that Owen looks quite cuddable.

Notes:

This is my work for the day 3 prompt: Transformation of the vsmp bat conservation event.

Work Text:

The night was coming to an end, and with it so was the nightly group flight that Scott and his fledglings liked to go on. Which led to three little bats flying into the main room of the castle, to the great dismay of the broody vampire that had been sitting there. The three new arrivals turned back into their humanoid forms in front of him, officially marking the end of his peace and quiet. Scott did so a lot more gracefully than the others, which was to be expected when comparing their levels of experience.

"We're back!" Shelby happily announced once she found her footing.

"I noticed,“ Owen scoffed, with his usual tendency of separating himself from the coven.

"The flight was great; we even took a dip in the river,“ Scott told him with a confident smirk.

"How lovely,“ Owen remarked with a short smile.

"You really should have joined us,“ Pyro happily said before practically cowering in on himself at the glare Owen sent his way.

"Now that I think about it, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you join us,“ Shelby thoughtfully remarked.

"I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen you as a bat,“ Scott stated as he too thought back to Owens's bat appearances, finding that he couldn’t remember any of them, if he even witnessed any.

"What's it matter anyway?" Owen scoffed, finding the topic to be bothersome at best.

"Do you not like flying?" Pyro hesitatingly asked before adding, "Is that why you don’t join us?"

"NO!" Owen loudly growled, making the scholar step back out of fear.

"Okay, I think we’ve had enough for tonight," Scott declared as he clapped his hands together before adding, "Now how about you two go to your rooms and rest for a bit?" while ushering his fledglings away and closing the door behind them.

Scott then let out a quiet sigh and let his shoulders drop; had Owen not been a vampire with heightened senses, he would have probably missed it. Then Scott turned back to face him with an easy smile and puppy-like eyes while asking, "Can I see, please?“

"What?" Owen asked in confusion as he trained his gaze to fixate on Scott. The elder could be too unpredictable, so he couldn’t let him out of his sight; plus, he didn’t hate the view too much.

"Your bat form," Scott said with a cheeky smile as he moved closer so he was standing right next to Owen.

"You want to see me transform into a bat?" Owen asked in clear confusion. Why ever would Scott want that? Instead of answering, though, Scott just excitedly nodded his head, and why did Owen think that was cute?

"Whatever,“ Owen scoffed as he ignored how his mind was spinning before turning into a bat. He never thought that he was anything special, just a plain old brown vampire bat; that's all he was. His bat form didn’t look half as shiny as Scott, with his really fluffy-looking white fur.

"Oh my god, you are absolutely adorable!" Scott almost squealed. What was with that reaction? Scott certainly hadn’t reacted like that when he'd seen Shelby or Pyro as bats for the first time. And Owen couldn’t help but be thankful that his face was covered with dark fur, making it so that Scott wouldn't be able to see the blush that had spread across it. Wait, why was Owen even blushing?

"Oh, please, I just look like a bat." Owen squeaked out as he turned his head to the side in embarrassment.

"An adorable and cuddly-looking bat,“ Scott corrected with a smile before shifting to be a bat himself. And shortly after Owen found a white, admittedly quite a lot bigger, bat trying to snuggle into him. What the heck was this guy's plan!?

"What in God's good name do you think you're doing!?" Owen exclaimed as his face turned bright red. Other than the exclamation, the smaller bat made no attempts at moving away from Scott, which gave the elder a silent kind of reassurance that Owen actually liked it. So why should he stop?

"Cuddling", Scott stated without any hesitation, "you're really fluffy and comfy.“

"Do I look like your personal pillow or something?" Owen questioned, instead of mentioning that Scott was probably even fluffier and that it felt nice cuddling him.

"No, you're way better than a pillow,“ Scott said before letting out a small yawn; he had already been tired from the flight before, and now with Owen it was getting quite hard to hold off the sleepiness.

"Y-you can't just..." Owen stuttered out through his flustered state. But before he could finish that sentence Scott interrupted him by moving his head up and giving the smaller bat a little affectionate lick on the cheek.

That was more cuteness or whatever it was than Owen could take, so he shifted back to being humanoid, earning himself a disappointed grumble from Scott, who was now nothing more than an adorably sleepy white bat in Owen's lap. The thought of just throwing Scott off and walking away was quickly dismissed by Owens' mind in favour of gently picking him up and taking the sleepy Scott bat to his room. On the way there, Owen found himself absentmindedly patting the elder's head. And maybe after he locked the door, Owen might have joined him once again as a bat, though Scott wouldn’t know, as he was already fast asleep by that point. Fully trusting the other vampire to not leave him in a venerable position alone.
