The town was desolate and if it had any inhabitants at all, they would either be shopping in the nearest town they can buy supplies from, or hiding in very deep places to conduct whatever rituals their pagan religion would have them do. All that mattered to her, for the time being, was that she should be free to find him. They had a link, something neither knew anything about except that it let them communicate through their dreams, and it was telling her that he was somewhere far under the stairs to the largest underground chamber around Oakhurst.
It was frustrating, how Avid never told her what he'd been doing or where exactly he is but after some tinkering with this unknown sinister magic, the priests had figured some things out. No, she chided herself for the lack of specificity, just the ones their Father trusted. But she was still going to strangle his pale, blood-sucking, healed, undead neck for not saving her time excavating an empty grave atop a steep stone hill.

Abolish was standing beside the corrupted beacon. The blood red color lit the shadows of the Obelisk and more importantly his face. Abolish took his hand off the beacon.
"Oh." The butler paused, "Hi Scott."
There was red in his eyes, a deeper shade of crimson replaced the calm amber of his pupils.
"A-Abolish?"
The Count stuttered, taken aback by the sight of his butler and the red surrounding him.
"You shouldn't be out here alone." Abolish said, his voice was flat. He hopped down from the structure.

What if the books in the crypts do not only aid humans in times of need?
A lot of what-ifs, but they might just be the truth for once.(Basically, I wanted Louis to use his incredibly high charisma stats to use the power of friendship and diplomacy to stop everyone in Oakhurst from slaughtering each other, and putting Owen’s radical meltdown on hold for a moment. (Having his partner back certainly won’t “fix” him, that man has loads more issues due to discrimination, but it will HELP.))

Avid’s throat felt raw from screaming, though he hadn’t been, not anymore, at least. His heart still felt as if it was home to a wooden stake. He felt the aching hunger, body still thinking he was dead, still thinking he needed to be healed.
But he didn’t.
Because he was alive. Avid was alive and he didn’t know how. He knew he was still a vampire, he could feel it in his very being, could feel the desperate hunger as if he’d never been satiated by a single drop of blood. But he was just outside of Oakhurst. An Oakhurst that was empty.
Empty and as though no one had ever stood foot in there, no sign of the people that had come to Oakhurst at the same moment as Avid.

What the title says! Extra scenes from Army Dreamers, written by me, Temerity, the beta reader and giver of bad ideas and snark! I love AD but sometimes I really wish more people than just Aria and I know what's going on with the other characters (doc is great but kinda oblivious sometimes (all the time)), so I write down the ideas I really like :D
Ch 1 (set between 9 and 10 of AD): Owen's reaction to Leg's house being set on fire. He takes it well (lies)
Ch 2 (set between 10 and 11 of AD): Owen drags Shelby along to find cool rocks, and gets teased about his not-boyfriend. Plus some Scott&Shelby cuteness.
Ch 3 (between 14 and 15 of AD): Avid and Shelby talk and have cuddles by the river. Martyn comes to her for help.
Ch 4 (pre-ch15): Scott finds two fledglings hiding in his coffin and has a few thoughts about life.
Ch 5 (set immediately after/during chapter 18): Drift, Shelby, and Avid have a long overdue chat; the gay vampires' taste in men is judged heavily

“You don’t look like you’re doing so great right now,” Legundo’s voice had a soft, worried tone as he drew closer to the man, as if to examine him for signs of illness. Abolish took a half step back, raising his arms to ward off the doctor’s advances.
“I’m fine doctor. I was actually just about to go to my house and check if I had any holy books that could help us.”
“At least let me-” ignoring whatever the doctor was saying, Abolish walked away from the group toward his home. His headache throbbed with every footstep that he took, rattling inside of his skull and causing his vision to waver slightly. The small stretch of path to his house seemed to shift beneath him as he fought a wave of dizziness brought on by the force of the pain in his head.
