Work Text:
There was something so wondrous about seeing life you’d made. In all her thousands of years living, Sea Fairy had never felt so light, so completely and utterly weightless.
Laying there on the bed, Water Lily babbled, her tiny legs kicking and hands waving with no real goal. Her wide eyes, periwinkle and filled with curiosity looked up at her mother, in complete awe for reasons understood by only her.
The guardian placed her finger over her daughter’s hand, quietly encouraging her to reach out. Those tiny fingers, the ones made from her, grasped it firmly, tugging at it with unconcealed delight.
Water Lily looked to the other side as the bed dipped, babbling louder at the sight of the other guardian. Moonlight smiled, easily joining her wife and daughter on the bed.
“Hello my dears,” she said softly, fondness seeping into her voice “seems someone’s happy.”
Sea Fairy hummed.
“Someone just had her nap, full of energy now.” Another tug at her hand made her turn her attention back to the baby. “So clingy, seems she got that from you my moon.”
That made Moonlight laugh, pressing a kiss to Water Lily’s head.
“Simply means she understands how wonderful you are already my sea,” she easily shot back.
The baby babbled, as if agreeing.
“See? She understands,” Moonlight defended.
Sea Fairy laughed, shuffling closer and placing a hand on her daughters torso. Compared to her hand, her daughter was so small… so much room to grow.
“I’ll believe it when she’s older…” she whispered.
A hand placed itself on top of hers, warm and solid.
“Yeah… older… I can’t wait.”
