What It Means to be at the Tippy-Top

Summary:

Eijirou felt pride and joy smear a grin on his face. Bakugou came a long way from the raging, feral freshman. He put so much care and encouragement into his words and actions with everyone else now.

Eijirou was so glad he saw how manly Bakugou became. He can’t wait to see more for the rest of his life.

Wait. What—

or, four times Bakugou was the mom friend, and the one time he asks for help.

Work Text:

The sun hadn’t quite set by the time their crew left the franchised diner. Mina found out that all of the squad was stationed in Musutafu, and decided they should all meet up for dinner before they had to head back to campus.

Bakugou herded them all into a CoCo Ichi near campus. He goaded Kaminari to try his level 10 spicy curry udon. Needless to say, he nearly died from just half a spoon of the sauce. Eijirou chose a level 5 katsu curry and added a lot of meat, and he was surprisingly comfortable with it. Maybe eating Bakugou’s cooking had built his spice tolerance. Mina picked a level 3 curry omurice, and Sero chose the same dish but went with a level 2. Kaminari decided on a level 1 which led him into being teased by Bakugou.

Eijirou enjoyed his time out. He and Bakugou were still in uniform with soot smeared on their cheek from fighting an arsonist villain. His hair started to fall from the gel he slathered on this morning. Eijirou patted his stomach as they walked towards UA.

“I’m stuffed,” the redhead sighed happily.

“I’m pretty sure they butchered a whole fucking hog for all the Katsu you fucking ate.” Bakugou walked beside him. He rumaged through his bag for something before handing it over to Mina.

“Oh! Thanks, Blastybabe!” Mina popped two purple candy coated disks into her mouth and chewed. “I love this flavor, how did you know?”

Bakugou didn’t entertain her with a response and only rolled his eyes.

“What?! I want some, Kacchan,” Kaminari exclaimed.

“Do ya’ got heartburn?” Bakugou rolled his eyes, then scrunched them in worry.

(Eijirou was really proud that he learned the nuances of Bakugou’s eyebrows. It was harder to learn than anything he’s ever done. It was something that Midoriya even struggled on.)

“No?” Kaminari looked confused at the sudden questioning. “Why would I have heartburn?”

“Do ya’ got indigestion? Or acid reflux?” Bakugou relaxed a bit at Kaminari’s answer. Though the change was so miniscule that Eijirou knew no one else caught it.

“Nope! I’m all good,” Kaminari declared and grinned with confidence.

“You don’t need it then.” Bakugou walked ahead again facing forward with posture relaxed yet proper. Eijirou jogged to catch up with the explosive blond.

“Boo! Why does Mina get candy?! What’s this special treatment!?” Kaminari exclaimed and looking back he was also waving his hands to emphasize his points.

“Mina, you hooking up with Blasty or something? How did you get him to do that?” Eijirou knew it was a joke, but for some reason he couldn’t stop his gut from twisting at that. Bakugou just rolled his eyes at the claim as if it wasn’t causing an earthquake under Eijirou’s feet.

“Oh my god! Shut up! You know that's not it. I’m into girls, and you know that,” Mina denied. She laughed at the absurdity of the claim. (Eijirou heard from her the other day that she’s been talking to the blonde girl from Shiketsu, and that Bakugou was the one that set them up.) “They’re not candy-”

“Don’t gaslight me! I know what I saw,” Kaminari interrupted, pointing a finger at Mina. “You can’t hide it from me. He gave you chocolates.”

“They’re antacids, dummy,” Mina corrected. “My quirk messes with the pH in my body too. That means that my stomach gets too acidic after eating and stuff, so I gotta chew on a couple after meals.”

“I don’t trust Pinky to remember her own fucking health, so I bring them,” Bakugou added. He was wearing a slight smile that only Eijirou could see walking next to him.

“He’s right. I almost never remember,” Mina laughed at her own forgetfulness.

“Oh,” Kaminari responded dumbly. “That makes much more sense. If anyone has special treatment from Bakuou it would be ‘Shima.”

“Exactly!”

The common room filled with chatter with several friend groups in a rare event. The majority of their class’s mandatory rest day had lined up. Eijirou sat on an arm rest with Mina squished between Sero and Kaminairi on the same couch. Uraraka was sewing on the other couch catching up with them. There were other students in the common room, but they were talking in their own groups, so Eijirou didn’t pay much attention to them. Bakugou was baking in the kitchen, and god, Eijirou hoped that he would share ‘cause it smelled divine.

As if his thoughts manifested the blond, Bakugou walked out from the kitchen he was holding a usb charger.

“Oi, open up, Sparky.”

Kaminari followed the instructions all while intently listening to Uraraka explain the takedown that she did last week. Although, she looked distracted by Bakugou’s presence.

Bakugou ignored it all and shoved a charger into Kaminari’s mouth and plugged in the electric quirk user’s phone. He left the common room once again and went back into the kitchen.

“Well, that was rude,” Uraraka commented after their explosive friend left.

“Nah, Kacchan’s being nice today.” Kaminari shook his head talking around the usb plug. “He’s, like, in a really good mood apparently.”

“How was that nice or good mood? He shoved a charger in your mouth!” Uraraka gestured to the wire hanging out of the electric quirk owner’s mouth.

From an outsider’s point of view, Eijirou guessed it could come across like that, but for their friend group, they knew—

“He’s doing me a favor actually! If I don’t discharge some charge, I think it builds up or something? I just know that it can fuck with my heart somehow,” Kaminari explained. He tapped on his chin trying to recall his memories. “Like one time in junior high, I went into cardiac arrest and was stuck in the hospital because of it.”

“Training at UA diffuses it, right ‘Nari?” Eijirou asked, worried. He didn’t know about his history of heart issues. Their close circle of friends knew how dangerous Kaminari’s quirk could be if he didn’t discharge it, but Eijirou was pretty sure that Mina and Sero didn’t know about that either based on their shocked faces.

“Oh yeah! That’s why it hasn’t been an issue, but rest days like these are dangerous.” Kaminari leaned his head on Mina’s shoulder to ease her worry. She wrapped an arm around his shoulder and nuzzled her cheek into vibrant blond hair. “Not gonna lie. I don’t remember telling Bakugou about the heart thing, but somehow he remembers. Now, he’s always on my ass about it.”

“Oh really?” Uraraka commented, smiling at the new revelation. The smile was out of relief from what Eijirou could tell. “What does he normally do?”

“He normally drags me out to spar with quirks. It’s sooo annoying. Like it’s my day off! I should be resting my sore muscles.” Kaminari pouted.

“Oh, that explains where he disappears from on our days off,” Eijirou thought aloud.

“Yeah, Kacchan has to be in a super good mood if he’s letting me rest and just charge my phone like this.”

As if responding to Kaminari’s comment, his phone turns on as he’s waving it around. It buzzed and lit up with several notifications.

[Kacchan] 3 Missed Calls

[Kacchan] 10 Unread Messages

Eijirou chuckled at the contact name. Bakugou hated the childish nickname, but his tolerance for Kaminari was a lot higher than the hatred apparently. Unless the explosive blond didn’t know about it, which was much more likely.

The room went back to chatting about their week of heroics. Uraraka complained about how often she had to rescue cats from various high places. Eijirou thought it was ridiculous how often it happened. Apparently, one day she was called sixteen times to rescue sixteen different cats.

Bakugou entered the room again. This time, he was carrying a tray of warm cream cheese danishes. He threw a pot holder onto the coffee table and then set the tray on top of it. Eijirou’s mouth watered with just the scent.

“Here. I just wanted to learn how to make pastry dough.”

Eijirou’s gaze followed Bakugou’s back as he walked to the elevator, locking on the pink tinted ears that was surely from embarrassment or bashfulness. The fleeing blonde didn’t even take one of his pastries.

“See! Very good mood,” Kaminari commented with his mouth full. He had a danish in each hand.

⊹₊˚‧︵‿₊୨ᰔ୧₊‿︵‧˚₊⊹

Eijirou thought about jumping off of Bakugou’s balcony. He’d hardened before he would reach the ground. It would be a great escape from the hell of studying English. It had one fatal flaw. Bakugou could easily catch him even if they were on the fourth story. Eijirou had to leave prayer to the gods to save him from the fate of studying with Bakugou.

He loved spending time with the blond, and Eijirou knew that he would hate studying alone more than studying with Bakugou. Studying was just a painfully boring necessity. It was also horribly tiring.

(Eijirou was far from a violent person, but the English language seemed like a hate crime. What the hell were homophones? Why did they accomplish the impossible task of turning Eijirou, a loud, proudly gay teen, homophobic.)

Although, someone above had Eijirou’s back. A shy knock lightly came from the door.

“I’ll get it!” He hopped up before the blond could respond. The three steps to the door were almost enough to restart his brain from the puddle it had become after looking at their English grammar workbook. Hopefully, whoever was at the door would sufficiently distract Bakugou from explaining how to use gerunds to Eijirou’s overexerted brain.

Momo stood shyly on the other side of the threshold. Her eyes widened as they made eye contact. “Oh, Kirishima–san! Is Bakugou–san around?”

“How many times I gotta fuckin’ tell ya’ ponytail? Just Bakugou.” The blond popped up over Eijirou’s shoulder.

“Right, apologies, Bakugou. Um—I can come at a later time if you’re currently busy with—”

“No!” Eijirou interrupted, “Totally not busy at all! Come on in Yaomomo.”

He stepped to the side to let her into Bakugou’s room, completely ignoring the glare setting his temple aflame.

They settled around Bakugou’s kotatsu—Eijirou’s study material messily arranged on top of it—with Yaoyorzu sat across from the room owner and Eijirou to Bakugou’s right like a mediator.

Well, a mediator wasn’t the right phrasing, but it wasn’t wrong either. Buffer was more correct. Bakugou was more blunt and forward than Japan’s polite culture could handle, but Eijirou has thick skin making him the ideal person to be the blond’s partner-in-crime.

“I apologize for coming unnoticed, but I didn’t have your number, and I thought that you were the probably the most appropriate person to ask about this—”

“Holy shit, Ponytail. Get to the fucking point!”

“Bakugou!” Eijirou scolded. Yaoyorozu was already nervous; there was no need to add to that. “Let her talk.”

The blond crossed his arms like a child in time out, but he stayed quiet.

“It’s alright,” Yaoyorozu reassured. It seemed like Bakugou’s outburst didn’t discourage her. In fact, her shoulders relaxed and her expression softened into a small smile. “I desperately need a new costume. My current one is way too uncomfortable for me to sufficiently fight.

“When we were first asked for hero costume designs, I informed them of my quirk and the conditions necessary for its optimal quirk usage. I’ve been too scared to change my costume this past year due to how public we’ve been as student heroes. I love my fans, and the connection I’ve made with them…” Yaoyorozu trailed off. She looked down to her hands.

“But you don’t like the attention your costume gets you,” Bakugou finished for her. “So, just change it. Ya’ don’t fuckin’ need my help for that, Ms. Top Seat.”

“The Bakugous are famous designers!” She exclaimed frantically before looking at her fidgeting hands. “And—Um, and didn’t you design your own suit? Is there any advice you could give me?”

“Come on, Bakugou.” Eijirou nudged the blond’s foot when the only response was the narrowing of garnet eyes. Those same gems turned to glare at him. “It’s manly to help a classmate. Unless…it’s too hard for you.”

Eijirou knew it hit the right combination of words when Bakugou sneered at him, but instead of malice replacing the boredom in his expression, a competitive spark lit up in his eyes.

“You got a list, Vice Prez?!” Bakugou slammed his hands down on the table before standing to walk over to his desk and grabbed a well-loved sketchbook from a drawer. Eijirou had looked through it once. It was filled with schematics of his gauntlets, bracers, and designs with detailed notes littered throughout for his support technician. “Likes. Dislikes. Any-fucking-thing.”

“Of course,” Yaoyorozu nodded before pulling something up on her iPad and picked up the Apple Pen that was magnetized to the edge of it. “I wrote it down here.”

“Get back to studying, Rock-for-Brains,” Bakugou instructed as he grabbed the tablet and gestured for Yaoyorozu to sit next to him so that she’s sitting across from Eijirou now. Looks like Bakugou saw through his plan to sneakily not study with the distraction.

Eijirou reluctantly picked up his pencil to work through Bakugou’s notes. The brief break did help with refreshing his eyes, and he could distinguish the different words and their definition despite having the same pronunciation. Although, he kept an ear to listen to the conversation.

Bakugou took a moment to read through the list before getting frustrated. Eijirou could tell from the way that Bakugou clicked his teeth, which caused him to look up to see if he needed to intervene.

Bakugou gave the iPad back to Yaoyorozu and opened his sketchbook to a clean page. He started roughly sketching out Creati’s costume from memory. They sat in a comfortable silence as Eijirou refocused on his studies and failed attempts at remembering the difference between “there,” “their,” and “they’re. It was genuinely impossible to distinguish the difference between them. He hasn’t even gotten started with “to,” “two” and “too.” May the gods send help to him when he gets there.

“Here. What d’ya fucking hate?”

“Um…”

“Just point it, Vice Prez’!”

The raising of Bakugou’s voice made Eijirou look up in alarm, but rather than annoyance, the blond looked amused. Yaoyorozu looked hesitant to say she hated anything about someone else’s work. Eventually, she did point out the flaws in the costumes.

Eijirou went to look at Bakugou’s expression when they made eye contact. He was caught.

“Stop procrastinating. Ya’ stuck or somethin'?" Bakugou complained, but Eijirou knew the real question behind it. Do you need help with anything?

“A little bit. I’ll ask you about it after Yaomomo’s done,” Eijirou responded. Bakugou rolled his eyes. Under the table, he nudged the knees together.

Bakugou turned back to the sketchbook with his fancy playdough eraser and got rid of all parts that their class vice president had pointed out issues with. He looked at her iPad again before sketching out a new hero costume.

Eijirou loved watching Bakugou work on things. It felt like the blond knew all sorts of skill, and if he didn’t, he would learn it until he mastered it fully. It was so manly.

Bakugou turned the sketch back to Momo. “It’s rough, but it has your rough ideas down.”

“Oh, it’s so nice! Thank you so much, Bakugou,” Yaoyorozu beamed, and Eijirou understood because the “rough” drawing was a detailed reference with notes for whatever support tech got to work on the new costume. The original sleeveless top was given loose, long sleeves with a slit running along the back of the arm. The stupid belt was given a skirt with slits on either side. Bakugou also gave the nonexistent neckline a proper plunging neckline with exposing the navel region.

Maybe Eijirou spent too much time in the Bakugou household—specifically with Bakugou’s parents—to recognize all of the changes made.

“It’s ass. Make a friend and they’ll fucking help you workshop it,” Bakugou sneered, but Eijirou saw his ears turn pink.

“But isn’t this what you’re doing, Bro?” Eijirou tilted his head.

“No, idiot. A support student knows a fuckton more about support engineering than me.” Bakugou turned to Yaoyorozu. “So, make a friend. You’re good at that shit, right?”

Wait. What—

⊹₊˚‧︵‿₊୨ᰔ୧₊‿︵‧˚₊⊹

Eijirou had a crush on Bakugou.

He realised it a couple of weeks ago, and honestly, nothing changed. In fact, he finds it easier to give into his feelings. Bakugou was just so easy to love for Eijirou.

It made sense. The blond had gotten his mother’s genes after all. He was a beautiful man to look at. God, Eijirou loved looking at Bakugou. That wasn’t all though. Bakugou had determination and passion to work hard for everything he desired. It was so fucking manly. Most importantly, Bakugou took care of him with so much care.

How was he not supposed to fall in love?

Kaminari threw another attack at Eijirou’s unbreakable form, and flashes filled his vision while Eijirou monologued in his head. The electricity felt like an uncomfortable prickle. Like the sensation in his fingers when he picked burrs from his pants after playing outside in spring. But all over his body. The layer of quirked, calloused skin acted like a protective layer of insulation.

Bakugou’s explosions felt like the summer sun in unbreakable.

There was some credibility that came from surviving a domestic war. Understandablely so, the field experience they had alone was incredible. It led to this relaxed hero training class where they got to choose how they worked on their weaknesses.

Kaminari was the one to approach Eijirou before he could go to Bakugou. He wanted to increase his voltage output, and Eijirou agreed since he needed to increase the length he could hold unbreakable for. Speaking of, he should breathe.

“Two million volts!” Kaminari shot out another whip of electricity towards Eijirou. White flashes of lightning cover his vision. Good thing he just took a breath.

Eijirou still struggled to remember to breathe during this form. It was much harder since his chest didn’t expand like normal. He mostly manually breathed. On the field he counted his breaths.

Honestly, he should do it here too, but how was he supposed to focus when he could hear Bakugou yelling at Todoroki to make it colder.

“Two point two million!” Kaminari yelled out his highest voltage. White danced in Eijirou’s vision, and then it was dark.

Screams and yells of surprise fell on Eijirou deaf ears as he panicked. Fear stirred its cauldron in his stomach. Eijirou got transported to last year during the raid. It was dark, and vivid memories of the sensation of pain. The static ran down his limbs at the nightmare of his skin cracking with every punch the larger masked man threw at him.

He was lightheaded and cold but he couldn’t drop unbreakable. He didn’t want to die.

“You’re okay, Kirishima. I need you to breathe for me. Take a deep breath.”

Who said that?

“‘Shima, relax for me. Start with your fingers.”

Bakugou? He wasn’t here.

“C’mon, you can trust me. Start here.”

I can always trust Bakugou.

Warm sunshine guided his fingers to relax before traveling up his arms to his shoulders. They urge him to lean onto their steady frame. Bakugou’s warm sweet scent filled Eijirou’s lungs.

As unbreakable falls, Eijirou collapses into Bakugou’s arms sobbing and gasping for air. He grappled Bakugou, unable to support his own weight. He couldn’t tell if it was from the fear felt deeply in his gut lighting his nerves on fire or if it was from overexerting himself in training.

It was still dark, and Eijirou felt the sharp claws of fear cling onto his confused mind.

“We’re fine, Ei. It’s just a power outage. Sparky tripped the system,” Bakugou reassured, and Eijirou hid his face into the blond’s shoulder. That was embarrassing. He overreacted over a power outage. It made sense. Kaminari had tripped the school’s electricity before as he gained mastery over his quirk. God, he had a panic attack over a power outage.

The light flickered back on, and Eijirou realised that his classmates were still there, whispering worries around them. Red creeped up along Eijirou’s skin from the attention. He felt like a little kid.

Bakugou kept running his warm palm on Eijioru’s back, grounding him further.

“Is he better? What did I do to trigger him?” Kaminari’s voice was closer than everyone else.

“Don’t know, but ain’t your fault, Sparky. You didn’t fucking know,” Bakugou answered him.

Eijirou's heart swelled. Bakugou was so manly. Took care of Eijirou’s episode, and now he’s reassured Kaminari. There was no way Eijirou was going to win the fight against his heart. Bakugou made it so easy to fall in love with him.

The blonde moved his hands to Eijirou’s thighs and lifted him up. Eijirou couldn’t lie, he made an unmanly yelp. He was a big dude. Bulked up considerably from their first year, and had a growth spurt over the summer pushing him a few centimeters above Bakugou now. And Bakugou was walking with Kirishima in his arm despite it all without even struggling.

“All Might! We’re fucking done for the day, so we’re headin’ back.”

“Alright, young Bakugou!”

Eijirou felt them move. He hadn’t lifted his head.

“Bakugou, you can put me down. I’m heavy.”

“You see me fuckin’ complaining? Y’think I can’t carry you?!”

“No!”

“Then, shut up, Red. Just enjoy the ride.”

Eijirou’s heart beat loudly and faster. He really could hold back. Bakugou made it so easy to give in. He loved him so much, and the feeling only got strong with every interaction.

Eijirou wanted—needed—to be closer to Bakugou. He needed Bakugou in every way. Spiritually. Physically. Emotionally.

Eijirou needed to belong to him. He needed to have Bakugou.

They made it to the boy’s locker room, and Bakugou set him down on the bench.

“Take all the time you need, Red,” he affirmed, turning to his locker and changing back into the UA fall uniform. Eijirou looked at his broad shoulders and his muscular back.

Eijirou felt undeniably lucky. He was lucky to have met Bakugou—to be allowed to be his friend. He had the privilege of loving Bakugou. His heart—his soul—ached with the overflowing feeling.

Bakugou finished putting on his uniform, and sat on the bench next to him, pulling his phone out to catch up on any notifications that occurred during training. Eijirou couldn’t even try to stop the words that came out of his lips so easily.

“I love you, Bakugou,” Eijirou confessed, but it didn’t feel like sharing a secret. No, it felt like stating a known fact.

Bakugou turned to him with wide eyes before setting his phone down on the bench. He grabbed Eijirou’s hand resting on the bench—intertwining their fingers—and leaned in to—

Oh. Their lips met.

It was a short chaste kiss. Unpleasantly inexperienced, yet it was the best thing Eijirou had experienced.

“‘Bout fuckin’ time, Kirishima.”

“Eijirou.”

“Let me help you change then, Eijirou.”

“Thanks, Bakugou. You’re the best”

“Call me Katsuki! Fucker!”

⊹₊˚‧︵‿₊୨ᰔ୧₊‿︵‧˚₊⊹

Katsuki blindly reached for his phone with his left hand. It took a couple of tries before he could pull it under the covers with him to turn off his alarm. The lockscreen background was a photo of the view at Karakunidake, the highest peak of the Kirishima Mountains, and the time read 7:17.

(Eijirou had actually planned the climb up Karakunidake. It was the first hike that Katsuki went on after he got the green light for regular activities after his heart exploded.)

Katsuki tried to raise his right arm to his face only to discover how stiff and sore it was  His chest scar felt tender. Moving the quilt down, he discovered his headache, but it was feverishly hot.

Oh, fuck.

Katsuki was sick.

He just wanted to lay in bed until it all just went away. He couldn’t though. Being ill meant that he had to call Aizawa to let him know of his absence. Then, he needed to call the old nurse and let her know that he’s vulnerable. Eventually, he should probably go to her to get medication in case his heart decided it was his time and had a fit. His mom would throw a fit as well if he didn’t call her, so his parents knew what was happening.

Katsuki closed his shut, throwing his left over them.

He’s so exhausted.

He’s not sure if he dozed off but the next thing that happened was a knock at his door. Not waiting for an answer, the person—it’s Eijirou, only he had that privilege—walked right in and sat on the bed causing Katsuki to shift to the weight

“‘Mornin’.” Katsuki brought his arm down from his eyes. Eijirou had a sad—at least his muddled brain recognized it as that—expression. The redhead placed a hand on Katsuki’s forehead. “Mmm. Tha’ feels good.”

“You’re burning hot, ‘Tsuki!” Eijirou brushed blond bangs back. His brows furrowed even more.

“I’m jus’ sick. I’ll be okay, Ei. Don’t be sad,” Katsuki reassured, trying to push down the itch in his throat. “Lay down, stupid. It's cold.”

“I need to make some calls, Katsuki,” Eijirou chuckled. Katsuki’s face probably showed his displeasure because the redhead bent down to place a kiss on his forehead. “I’ll be right back. Trust me?”

“Always.”

With that, Eijirou left Katsuki’s dorm. Alone again with his thoughts, Katsuki couldn’t tell how long it actually took, but it felt long. He missed the feeling of callused hands brushing through his hair. Eventually enough time passed that he dozed off again.

He dreamt of flower fields and warm smiles. He saw Eijirou moving towards him. He felt calluses on his own, and bitten lips pressed against his.

Katsuki woke up again with the sound of his door opening.

“Ei?”

“Nope!” A cheery voice answered him. It was bright, but not loud. Something that he appreciates with the persistent goblin playing drums on his brain. “It’s Kaminari. Heard for Kiri’ that you fell sick. Just thought I could put a cool cloth on you before I head out.”

“Hmm, you’re gonna miss homeroom,” Katsuki yawned. He didn’t bother opening his eyes, trusting the electric blonde to respect his room. The sound of water splashing did worry him a little, but Kaminari wasn’t that incompetent.

“Dude, it’s only seven fifteen,” Kaminari corrected Katsuki. Oh, it’s been less time than Katsuki thought.

Kaminari placed a cold, damp cloth on Katsuki's forehead. It felt amazing. A cooling respite from the heat of his fever.

“I’ll let Kirishima know when I placed that on you. I think he’s fighting Aizawa to let him skip right now.”

Katsuki fell back asleep before Kaminari closed the door on his way out.

The next time that he came to was with Eijirou sitting in his bed next to him. The redhead read the english version of The Hobbit that Present Mic assigned as their reading. Eijirou always wore a frown when he was focused. Katsuki thought it was cute that his smiley puppy frowned when focused.

His puppy.

“Good Morning, Katsuki. Well—it’s almost lunch now…” Eijirou responded to Katsuki who wrapped his arms around his waist and set his heavy head on the redhead’s lap. The damp towel fell onto the pillow to be forgotten. “Mina came by during homeroom to drop off the meds she picked up from RG. So, you should take some after eating some of the okayu that Yaomomo made this morning—she texted me about it. And, don’t worry I called Aizawa and your parents to let him know. He let me stay with—Wait! Why are you crying ‘Tsuki?”

Katsuki didn’t even realize the tears that slipped out of his eyes onto Eijirou’s pants. Fuck, he hated being sick. It made him sappy.

Eijirou frantically pulled Katsuki up to sit in his lap, and the blond immediately hid his face in his shoulder. How stupid it was to cry over this.

“Hey, baby? What's wrong?”

“Nothing. Just feel fucking loved is all.”

Katsuki’s voice was rough from disuse, and his throat was scratchy from the illness. Eijirou petted through messy blond hair, and he couldn’t stop the sob even if he tried.

“Of course you’re loved. You do so much to show how you love us, babe,” Eijirou chuckled. Katsuki heard the smile first. “You take care of your friends…of me. And, take the time to prepare and solve our problems for us. You remember little details that we don’t even remember talking about. How else are we supposed to feel?”

Katsuki whined. Logically, he knew his friends cared about him, but it felt different to be taken care of.

“Aw, baby. Katsuki, look at me.”

Katsuki reluctantly sat up from his favorite hiding spot, Eijirou’s collarbone. They made eye contact, and Katsuki swore even through his fever there was fireworks setting off in him when crimson met scarlet, Eijirou looked at him with so much adoration and love. He wore a soft smile that only Katsuki saw.

“I love you.”

“Love you, too.”

Notes:

eijirou carried katsuki to the common room btw and made him eat and take meds. then, they cuddled on the couch until everyone came back to sleep katsuki.
