Chapter Text
Simon couldn’t take his eyes off the test in his hands. Two lines? That wasn’t right. The stick in front of him did not make sense.
There was no medical logical way-
“How did this happen?” Simon whispered purely astonished and confused. He had taken the test as a joke. Now the “joke” had two dark red lines that screamed “positive pregnancy test”.
Adrian sang to Simon in their native tongue. “Must Adrian explain human reproduction to human. Question.” The sarcasm evident in their tone.
Simon blushed as he could probably pinpoint the exact moment it happened- Rocky and the scientists had reinvented Vokda and him and Grace… had a very wild, messy, long, and tiring night.
Simon winced as he remembered his hips hurting the entire week afterwards and his back scarred up to the point that it left a few permanent scars, it was done consensually and Simon found it hot as hell BUT THAT WASN’T THE ISSUE RIGHT NOW.
‘It was always the quiet reserved nerds who were freaky in bed.’
Simon looked down at the test…
“This doesn’t make sense. I don’t even-“ he mumbled lowly throwing the test on the bed he sat on. Simon grabbed a fistful of his own hair and kept looking at the thing. In total and utter confusion.
There was no way.
“Simon have both organ, Grace call it intersex. Statement.” Adrian hummed as they placed a device on Simon’s arm. The device squeezing his arm, both of his hearts thundering. Simon was a bit too focused on other things.
When he first got here and they figured he was intersex. Long before him and Ryland had actually gotten married mind you. After a makeshift MRI machine and anatomy books for days on end. They had gotten down a solid layout of Simon’s anatomy… THERE WAS NO UTERUS IN THERE WHEN HE LAST CHECKED THOUGH.
He knew he had been intersex for a while. He still preferred to go by masculine terms though. The stunt with the eel and the general “getting his organs and body mismatched and rearranged”, not in the fun way mind you, by the blood ocean made sure he had plenty of organs to spare.
Adrian’s theory had been that part of Ava had fused to Simon along with some of the other convicts.
That was why Simon had four different blood types that all seemed to harmonize together and had an extra kidney / liver. The two hearts in him made him uncomfortable but he felt a bit relived knowing if Grace ever needed a heart he had one to spare. The teeth on the side of his face and the mutated stump where his arm should be were another “quirk”.
But…
“I don’t get it, Adrian. I don’t have periods. I didn’t think I even had a uterus. Besides according to Grace’s database, intersex individuals have a worse chance of reproduction. Not a higher chance!” He stated desperately. His usual hard exterior was completely cracking. This was so fucked.
What would a uterus even be connected to?! Last he check he had two balls, a dick and an asshole. Nothing else! So HOW.
Maybe Grace did some sort of freaky experiment on him?
This didn’t make sense. Ava’s body would have been too irradiated to even be fertile. He didn’t know about the other convicts but there was no way this was happening.
“It’s gotta be cancer or something.” He muttered out loud dismissively.
“No cancer. Simon not die. Just have offspring in body. Statement.” Adrian drew some blood and placed it under one of the eridian’s machines.
“Adrian, I can’t have this. It must be something else-“ Simon felt that very familiar wave of nausea hit him the man hiccuping as Adrian already placed a bucket in front of him.
Simon coughed as he expelled all of his breakfast into the bucket.
He groaned and wiped his mouth as he pushed the bucket away and looked over at Adrian.
“Simon done being leaky. Question.” Adrian moved the bucket back to its place and with one foot made Simon lay down on the cot.
The man’s head was spinning.
Adrian lifted Simon’s shirt up so the eridian could rub a cold substance on Simon’s stomach.
“What-“ Simon started as he tried to pull his shirt down.
“Simon sit. Grace tell Adrian how check for fetus in simulation. Statement.” Simon felt his blood run cold but just nodded.
The makeshift “ultra sound” was terrifying to say the least. But as Simon looked closely at it. Both of his hearts dropped. There clear as day was a bean? Like a kidney bean. Not even super big but- the image filled him with even more turbulent emotions.
“Confirmed, Simon carrying Grace and Simon offspring. Small Grace and Simon pebble. Statement.”
Simon was in shock still. He wasn’t sure how to process this.
Time blurred as suddenly Simon was laying there and Adrian was waiting on an answer. “I’m sorry, what?” Simon shook his head.
Adrian let out a noise of annoyance as they repeated. “Do Simon want keep offspring. Question.”
Simon stared at Adrian dumbfounded.
Never in a million years would he expect to ever be asked that. He was a man! Who like men! Now he was pregnant? He hugged himself protectively as he thought about it.
Eden had taught him from a young age that children were sacred. No matter how they were conceived they should be cherished. Simon always felt uncomfortable with the sentiment not to mention the shame that came to mothers for birthing another mouth to feed… it was an odd feeling to have now.
He never wanted to be a father. Fuck, he never thought he would have to be worried about being one he was into men for fucks sake!
Him and Grace had been mates for over three years now. Both men having come to terms of being a family of two and possibly adopting a pebble once the Eridian’s developed better technology to allow Simon and Grace to be outside the dome.
But this? A human baby?
Oh god- what if it had a tail? What if it was terribly mutated? Would the Eridian’s want to watch him give birth? What if the baby didn’t survive? What if Simon’s fucked up body tried to attack her?
Her? Her. FUCK.
“I- I-“ Simon floundered as he struggled to think. His arm wrapping protectively around his stomach.
Adrian sighed “Adrian let Simon think. Take long you want. Adrian and Rocky will hear heart beat of offspring two weeks. Statement.” Simon let out a yelp of pain as Adrian gave him a shot in the arm along with tossing a small container of cream at Simon. “Cream is Estrogen. Buy time so offspring don’t die.”
The medical officer began tidying up the space and making a disgusted sound when moving the bucket of Simon’s stomach.
Simon sat there.
Two weeks?
He looked in the mirror at the makeshift “doctor’s office” the man lifting his shirt and hesitantly poking his stomach.
Shit.
