Work Text:
“MICHEAL ROBINAVITCH!” says Dennis storming into the ER while holding Robby's helmet.
The whole ER goes quiet, which is rare for the pitt. Everyone turns their heads to Dr. Robby and then to Dennis, who was marching right towards him. Dana who was right next to him, patted his shoulder and gave him an apologetic look.
“What did I say about wearing a helmet?!” Dennis shouted
“To wear it.” Robby says, as he holds his breath.
Dennis looks down to the ground as his lips curled inward, then looks up at robby. “Exactly! So why the FUCK did I see your helmet still on the table after you left but your motorcycle was GONE?!”
“Huhh” Robby’s hands were sweating now. “Sorry…” was all that could come out of this mouth.
“SORRY?! Is that really all you got to say?! I swear to FUCK ill puy you in a grain silo where you fucking drown because of your stupid FUCKING desitions!” Dennis pushed the helmet right into Robby’s hands and then turned away. “If anyone needs me, ill be on the fucking roof top.” Then Dennis left, the ER still silent.
Trinity pokes her head out. “Soooo, someone is going to have to talk with him.” she says.
Robby puts his hands up. “Well it certainly is not going to be me. I'm already in big trouble."
Dana looked down at her desk “well you sure did fuck up Robby. Making the sweetest person in the ER mad and swear, who is also your boyfriend, you might as well start digging your grave.”
“Ya you’re right, I’m dead.”
Everyone looked around the room, seeing if someone was going to take on the job of talking to him. Finally Abbot stepped in. “I’ll go talk to him.”
Robby turns to look at him. “Are you sure about this Jack?”
Abbot looked at him, “Ya i got this. Don’t worry.”
Robby sighs, “ok, text or call me if anything happens.”
“I will. See you at the house, Mikes.” Abbot says as he heads to the roof.
“See you at the house, love.”
With Dennis
Jack found Dennis at the railings smoking a cigarette. His mind is very much somewhere else. Abbot stands right next to him, not saying a word, just stands there. After a few seconds of silence, he finally spoke.
“So, you are pretty upset at Robby today, huh.”
Dennis looks at him, and takes another drag of his cigarette.
Jack stares at him for a moment. “You want to tell me what’s on your mind. Or do you want to stay here, smoking until you get lung cancer?”
Dennis looked at him, and put out the cigarette.
“I’m sorry.”
“You don’t have to apologize right now. I get it, some of us wake up in a bad mood. But you’re not the type of person to let their anger show, hell cursing is extremely rare coming from you. So what’s going on?”
“It’s a lot of things, not just Micheal not wearing his helmet.”
“Alright, I’m listening”
“It’s with my fucking family. My parents are mad at me for not calling that much. And my brothers are mad at me for not helping at the farm. And on top of all of that, they said that i abandoned Jesse, all because i've mentioned that i haven't been able to go to church because of work. And I had that argument with them right after Micheal left. So when I saw that he wasn't wearing his helmet, I just…”
“Snapped. Ya that makes a lot of sense baby.”
Dennis’s eyes started to blur and soon he felt a stream of water coming down his cheeks. Abbot pulled him into his arms.
“I just” hiccup ". I just feel so guilty for yelling at him in front of everyone now.” hiccup.
Jack rubs Dennis’s back. “It’s okay, shit like that happens.”
They stay like that for a few minutes. Just holding each other while the cool autumn breeze washes over them. After a bit, Jack speaks. “Hey how about I get Micheal to come up here and you explain what happened that made you snap.” Dennis looked up at him with those sad puppy eyes and nodded. Jack got out his phone and called Micheal to get up here.
A few moments later, Micheal got up to the roof and saw Dennis and Jacks there.
Dennis was about to say something but Micheal got there first. “Look baby, I am so sorry. I should have worn the helmet instead of being an idiot. I promis-” he was cut off by the feeling of a set of very soft lips against his.
“Let me speak, you damn…donkey. Damn it, I don't know any good insult names. Let me explain what was going through” Dennis started to grip onto his curls “this damn fucking head of mine.”
“Ok ok” Micheal took Dennis’s hands and slowly pulled them out of his hair, “I’m listening."
Dennis took a deep breath and started to explain.
After a few minutes of explaining in more thorough details to both of his boyfriends, everything was much calmer.
Jack put his arm around both of them. “Alright then, I'm done with my shift, I'm hungry and tired. But before I leave, what do you both want for dinner?”
“I mean,” Dennis said “I’m down for anything, maybe make something that utilizes the sourdough, I think I made too much.”
Micheal look at him. “Nonsense, there’s no such thing as too much sourdough. But ya, I'm also down for anything. If you’re hungry, there’s still some apples or apple donuts left over.”
“Alright, I'll see you guys later. Now before I go, give me kisses.” Micheal and Dennis rolled their eyes. This idiot. They both gave their boyfriend a kiss on the lips each. Jack seemed happy after that, and waved them good bye.
Micheal and Dennis looked at each other. Even though this day started off rough, they knew that everything was going to be okay. If they got each other, they were going to be alright.
