Also, Im fully aware Evan/Heeseung isn't apart of Enha anymore but I started working on this book way before he left so it was useless to scrap this. With that I do have a difficult time writing this sometimes....please give me grace😞🙃

Chapter 1: A Bitter Awakening

Chapter Text

Jake’s POV

My head fucking hurts and my whole body is sore.

I thought to myself as I opened my eyes. When I do, I am met with a white room with black decorations all round. I realize I'm on a big bed and all I can see is the outline of my legs underneath the white silk bed sheet. I raise my tender body up with caution to rest on the back board, as I am getting my grip and focus back, I feel an arm to the left of me. In terror, I jump and grab the sheet to cover my face. I slowly start to try to calm myself down from the shock, steading my breathing to the best of my ability. After some time, I turned my head left to peek over the bed sheet to see a head turning, staring right back at me. What I saw looking back at me made me freeze from sheer panic………..

It was Heeseung, but he looked lifeless with no soul remaining. His face was ghostly pale, blood stained tears down his face, pitch black eyes, light blue tinted lips, and no emotion on his face. He did not blink at me once. The blood of tears that he had coming from his eyes seemed to be fresh wet tracks that ran down his neck. All I could do was stare back, I looked into his eyes for a while. I noticed his face was contouring into a wicked big smile. His teeth were covered in crimson blood with a black tint.

That was when a gnarly smell hit my nostrils, it was the heavy aroma of metallic stench of iron and rot emitted from him. It was so thick I could taste it in the back of my dry burning throat. I immediately covered my mouth and shot up, running to find the bathroom. I frantically ran out of the room, trying my hardest to hold it in. I spotted the bathroom down the dimly white lit hall. Turning on the light, I barely make it to the toilet, throwing up violently.

What the hell is going on???

Flushing the toilet, I wipe my mouth. I scan the space, this room is also fully white but this time it had dark red  and light green pieces all throughout. I creep to the door, not before I spot a small bottle of mouth wash next to a packaged tooth brush and toothpaste. I grab both items and get to brushing my teeth. I finish off with a rinse of mouthwash. I manage the courage to look at myself in the mirror and what I see is NOT me.

Studying myself, I have collarbone length black hair, my eyes are hazel with blue in it, I am pale, my face is slim, my lips are plump, and my eyebrows are thick. I touch my face not liking what I am feeling. My hands make it near the corners of my mouth.

My teeth feel weird.

I go to smile to see if I have all my teeth, I see fangs that have replaced my canines. My eyes widened.

“No, no, no, no!!” I say loudly. I run back out, heading straight to the room Heeseung is in. I am met with three tall dark clothed figures towering him. The figures turn around to face me.

“Oh, Jake, you are awake now! We missed you so-”

“Jungwon, Sunghoon????”

Some of my friends????

They were standing next to each other. Jungwon was in the middle while Sunghoon was to his left.

I speed over to them, embracing them into a hug. They hug me back with a slight bit of hesitation. I release them and stare them both dead in their faces.

“What happened to me after I blacked out? Where are Ni-ki and Sunoo? Why do I have fangs too? What is wrong with Heeseung?”

“Listen, Jake, a lot has happened since you were last awake. I do not think it is our place to tell you everything just yet.” The voice to the left of Jungwon says. I snap my head to see who said that–it was Jay.

“Who the fuck are you to say anything Jay? I was not talking to you at all!” The way I said that came off too harsh and I have never spoken with this aggression before.

“Calm down Jake. We can not answer everything but we will answer what we can.” Sunghoon calmly states.

“You have been asleep for— you have been asleep for a while after what took place.” Jay speaks up. I narrowed my eyes at him in response.

He is lying to me.

Jungwon clears his throat. “Heeseung is just fine although he is not up moving, he still sees everything. Do not worry though he will be up real soon.” A cold shiver bolts through my spine. I glance over his shoulder and see his head is now facing us carrying the same smile.

“Probably within the next few days or hours. It just all depends on you.” Sunghoon softly says.

“It depends on me?” If my memory recalls me correctly before I blacked out, I……I ...depised Heeseung at that moment because of the pain he had given me up until that point.

At least from what the other Hesseung did to me.

“As for Sunoo, he is fine and he is at home. He just left actually.” Sunghoon smiles.

“Okay???? What about Ni-ki? Where is he?”  The irritation is starting to build up through my voice.

“Um about him, he—-”

“Guys stop being vague and just tell me the truth. I can feel you guys are not telling me everything.” I said, shaking with anger.

All three of them exchange worried eyes with one another.

“He, uh, um..”

“Just spit it out please! I need to know where he is!!!!” I shout in frustration

“JAKE! HE IS IN A COMA” Jungwon raises his voice back at me.

Coma???? Coma??? Because of me….no no not Ni-ki. No way. I caused this.

“Where is he at?” I calmly say.

“We will take you to where he is.”

They walk past me. I am still standing there trying to process what I was just told. My eyes darted to Heeseung. His eyes are now closed but he seems to have his smile still.

Seeing that twisted evil curve on his blue lips disgusts me and something in me absolutely snaps into pure rage.I speed walk closer to him, getting down on his level to tell him, close enough to smell the stale copper on his skin. I gently grab the collar to his blood stained shirt. I lean in until my whisper is the only thing he can hear.

“Cut the act Heeseung. I know you are awake, so when I get back in I want to see you up.” I let go of him.

“You guys ready?” I turn to them with a smile on my face.

What felt like forever we finally made it to the room I am presuming Ni-ki is in. Jay Walks in front of the other two to open the door. What's behind this door is an empty black room with a white shiny coffin in the center.

“You can go in if you want. We will wait for you out here” Jay says, holding the door open.

I slither my way in between them without thinking I run fast to the coffin. I can see his face. The inside of the coffin is lit up with dark red lights. The more I started looking at his face the more I could clearly see the pain he was still carrying before he ended up in this coma.

“Hey, is there any way I can be the one to get him out of this?” I nervously let out resting my hand on the side.

“Yes and no. You can attempt to give him some of your blood to see if that would bring some type of awareness back but, no you can't be the only one to do that Heeseung has to allow you to do such a thing. You have to remember you're not the reason why he's in a coma.” Jungwon speaks.

“How long has he been in a coma?” I keep my gaze on his face. I hear some small chattering behind me before Sunghoon speaks.

“He has been in a coma as long as you have been asleep, so 20 years.”

Twenty years.

The words hit me like a physical blow, knocking the thoughts straight from my brain. Twenty years gone from the both of us. My vision flared a blinding, furious red, my instincts took over before my mind could even process the loss. Suddenly, I was back at the doorway of the room. Heeseung was sitting up with his back against the head board, head straight. I get in front of his vision, he has a blank stare like he is looking into space.

In that moment I wanted to lunge at him just to choke him to cause the pain he gave me when we were together.

“GET.UP.” I growl, my voice shaking with a dangerous, quiet fury. “Get the hell up and talk to me, Heeseung. Stop hiding behind your clueless look. What did you do to me? ”

As I'm looking him dead in the eye he blinks for the first time. His smile stretches, pulling back unnaturally far until his blood-stained teeth are fully on display—wider, sharper, and meaner than before. The blank, hollow look disappears, replaced by a dark creepy gleam as he slowly tilts his head to the side.

“Surprise, baby.” He darkly chuckles.
