When Michael Kaiser and Isagi Yoichi finally started dating, it was to little fanfare.
Which was really… strange.
They’d been circling each other for years. Entangled in a competition of razor-sharp words, devourment and ruination, with a ferocity that set their bodies alight. And sitting between them had always been a sort of understanding that came with being far too similar -- even if that fact annoyed the fuck out of Isagi to acknowledge.
An understanding that gave way to trust that slowly became comfort and-
Well, the puzzle pieces eventually started falling into place.
Regardless of the evolution of their interpersonal relationship, Kaiser and Isagi knew how they acted on the field. Most of the world still considered them sworn rivals -- enemies, more like it. Even if they were dual aces on the same team, they were known to battle and build off each other more than whoever their opponent was.
And some of their fans also considered them enemies -- purely as a jumping off point before becoming lovers. Something about a slow burn. Isagi didn’t really understand what Hiori had been talking about. And he didn’t particularly want to know either.
Better to leave that can of worms unopened.
After they began dating, Kaiser and Isagi walked onto the soccer field for Bastard München’s next game together. Kaiser’s arm slung tight around Isagi’s shoulders. Isagi leaned into his side, hand intertwined with Kaiser’s own.
Speculation regarding their relationship both on and off the field had always been a popular topic in the tabloids and across social media. So whether people believed them enemies to lovers, or firmly enemies, they were sure it’d elicit some sort of reaction.
From their teammates. From their fans. From the media. From anyone.
No.
Nothing.
A cricket chirped.
Isagi looked around in bewilderment. Everyone looked at them. But they looked at them normally. The same way anyone would look at some of the top strikers in the world about to play in their next game.
Their teammates nodded and gave them passing glances. A reporter nearby was commentating on Kaiser’s impressive stats. No shock, no confusion, no elation or disgust. Just… nothing.
Fuck, even Isagi himself was still kind of surprised that he actually decided to go out with a bastard like Kaiser.
Isagi had figured their keen-eyed teammates would pick up on their change in behavior immediately, but all of them seemed completely oblivious to it.
Kaiser and Isagi started walking to practice together holding hands. Isagi wore Kaiser’s jersey, its fabric hanging slightly off his more slender frame, during a practice match. Kaiser had some pretty noticeable scratches on his back in the locker room, easily matching the hickeys and bruises Isagi was covered in.
And Isagi called him “Mihya.”
No quips, no teasing remarks, nothing. Not even from Hiori!
It was disconcerting.
“Should we just make a public official announcement?” Isagi asked one day while they were making dinner at Kaiser’s apartment. Well, Kaiser was making them dinner, but he was sitting there very supportively. “Maybe we should talk to Bastard München’s PR team and reveal our relationship through all the usual channels.”
When Kaiser and Isagi had first started dating, they’d discussed how they wanted to approach revealing their relationship. They’d figured with the amount their partnership was already in the public spotlight, any change in it would immediately be noticed. But with both haters and shippers and everyone in between, they didn’t want to make a big deal of it either, or open themselves up to public scandal or scrutiny.
They didn’t want any huge announcements. But they didn’t want to hide anything either.
Kaiser and Isagi figured they’d just live their lives and people would catch on. However…
“We don’t need to do anything just because everyone around us is a fucking idiot,” Kaiser said with a scoff. He chopped the vegetables a little too hard.
“Isn’t it strange though?” Isagi asked, leaning into Kaiser’s side. And then he pointed out, “Hiori, Raichi, and Yukimiya are always teasing me about the whole KaiSagi thing, even when we’re not doing anything! Now we’re giving them so much to work with and they’ve been silent.”
“How’d your other Blue Lock stalkers react?” Kaiser asked.
“Did you mean ‘friends’?” Isagi rolled his eyes. “And they didn’t! I told them we were dating over the Blue Lock group chat and they just responded with a bunch of thumbs up emojis.”
Kaiser squinted his eyes, contemplating. “Okay, that is weird.”
Isagi heaved out a sigh. Everything about the universe stopped making sense after he and Kaiser started dating. Including the fact that they somehow hadn’t killed each other. “Do you think they’re pranking us?”
“Your Blue Lock friends don’t have the collective IQ to pull off something like that,” Kaiser responded with certainty. He opened the oven, setting down the tray of whatever German dish he concocted to cook. “Same goes for Bastard München.”
Isagi shook his head, but didn’t argue Kaiser’s point. “So, what should we do then?”
“You want to show me off that badly, Yoichi?” Kaiser cooed, gently holding Isagi’s chin and pulling him closer. “I always knew you were obsessed with me.”
Isagi smacked his hand away, anger flaring through him, ignoring the pulse of warmth at the thought of showing off his boyfriend. “Get real, Mihya. I’m not the one with the obsession!”
“Even though everyone’s response has been strange, it’s been nice finally having everyone leave us alone,” Kaiser added, smiling at Isagi’s reaction, and then pressing further, “Maybe we don’t have to do anything. I can keep you locked away for my eyes only and no one will have any say in it.” Kaiser said it jokingly, but with the sharp glint in his eyes, Isagi couldn’t be a hundred percent positive.
Isagi could feel his face heat up. “Mihya! You can’t just say things like that, you fucker-”
“I do like having you all to myself, Yoichi,” Kaiser teased, lips drawn up into a smirk. “But I also want people to know you’re mine.”
Though he still felt an urge to whack Kaiser, Isagi relented out of the goodness of his heart.
Kaiser looked away for a moment, pursing his lips. “Noa said something to me about public perception when I first joined Bastard München. I didn’t bother paying attention though…”
Isagi’s mouth twitched. “Why the fuck would I listen to Noa about anything anyway?”
“Okay. Fair point.”
The conversation lulled. Isagi took it all in: the warmth of the kitchen, the radio softly playing in the living room, the low thrum of the oven, the spicy-sweet aroma sifting through the air, Kaiser’s hand which found itself comfortably sat on his waist, and Isagi, who leaned into the touch.
Given all of their history, something about it felt bizarre, no matter how right it felt too. Maybe everyone’s reactions, or lack thereof, weren't too strange.
And then Kaiser spoke up. “Let me take you out, Yoichi.”
Isagi blinked. “Huh?”
“I’m taking you out,” Kaiser said, firmly. “Properly, Yoichi. This Saturday. In public. Not just hanging out after practice or coming over to one of our places.”
Isagi could feel himself smiling. “Okay, I’ll hold you to that.”
Another pause.
“So, what are you making for dessert?”
“… Dessert?”
“Don’t do this to me, Mihya.”

Saturday came.
Their busy schedule wouldn’t allow them to do anything too fancy, but there was a nice cafe near where they practice that the team often liked to go to together. Kaiser and Isagi had never gone there alone in the past, but it’s warm and familiar and importantly: the workers and customers there know them.
Isagi rolled his eyes when Kaiser made a show of opening the door for him.
By all accounts, Kaiser didn’t make for a stellar boyfriend. He lived to get on every single one of his nerves. He insisted they share a drink -- two cute bendy straws and all -- and then refused to compromise on what that drink would be, arguing for absolutely insane drink concoctions that would give any normal person a brain aneurysm. Then he had the audacity to tease him for enjoying his drinks on the sweeter side. Which inevitably lead to them getting their own separate drinks.
And to be fair, Isagi probably wasn’t that great either. But they were both similar brands of terrible with a penchant for soccer, and they both did try, so it all worked out.
They spent half the time arguing about drink orders and the other half bantering about their upcoming soccer match. Kaiser's smirk would fade into a soft smile with each of Isagi’s retorts and he did end up paying for the both of them.
All in all… a wonderful and successful date!
Isagi had meant to pay more attention to the other customer’s reactions, but it was difficult to not pay attention to Michael Kaiser. Regardless, he was sure the public wouldn’t know what hit them.

That’s so unexpected! Maybe if Kaiser and Isagi hang out more off the field, they’ll have a better time on it. I know when they’re fighting, they have some of the most legendary goals, but when they’re working together is when they really shine. Imagine if they were that in sync all the time!

That tweet made Isagi pause.
The feeling that checking social media was a mistake slowly crawled up his spine. Once he was back in his apartment, he just wanted to see what the response would be, but it was turning out to be…
Normally, he would never give a second of his time to a trashy tabloid magazine like Soccer Gossip Weekly, but so far, social media’s response to the news of his and Kaiser’s obviously romantic date had been so unexpectedly divisive -- he kind of felt bad for all their shippers who, for once, happened to be right and no one believed them --, and the tweet had so much engagement, maybe he should check it out.
Though the way the tweet was worded made him want to run far, far away from it. They made it sound as though he and Kaiser were doing something completely inappropriate, like getting caught with Kaiser’s huge dick up his ass in some random alleyway.
They just got coffee together! Well… at least the tabloid magazine seemed to acknowledge something was going on.
Something pricked at the back of his neck.
Reluctantly, Isagi clicked the link.
Enemies Slash Rivals Slash Teammates Turned… Friends?! The Scoop on Soccer Superstars Michael Kaiser and Isagi Yoichi!

Earlier, this Saturday morning, famous athletes and sexy soccer superstars Michael Kaiser and Isagi Yoichi were spotted at a local cafe in Munich grabbing drinks together. Kaiser is a soccer legend who has played for Bastard München, well-regarded as the best team in Germany’s league and a high contender on the world stage, since his teen years. Isagi rose to fame during his days as a top striker in Japan’s famously controversial and popular program, Blue Lock, which was a training facility that was created by Ego Jinpachi for the sole purpose of producing the world’s best striker in order to lead Japan to victory during the U-20 World Cup and beyond.
Kaiser and Isagi first clashed during Blue Lock’s Neo Egoist League, which functioned as the final selection of the Blue Lock Project and invited teams from across the world to participate, including Bastard München. As they played on the same team, viewers of Blue Lock TV, a reality football streaming show which featured the Neo Egoist League and its players, began to notice the striking rivalry brewing between them.
A rivalry that Kaiser and Isagi are still infamous for to this day, even as dual aces on Bastard München.
A rivalry that has kept them firmly planted in the public eye and as the talk of the soccer world! Germany’s Soccer Emperor and Japan’s Sweetheart!
Over the years, many soccer and Blue Lock TV fans have expressed interest in wanting them to work together more. Some particular fans have indicated they hope Kaiser and Isagi will spend more personal and intimate time together.
Unfortunately, neither soccer player has ever addressed such wishes from their fans, normally choosing to keep the inner workings of their feud very private. Though when asked, they’re both still quick to express their intense rivalry for one another.
So it came as quite a shock when intel reported that they were sharing drinks at a local cafe together!
We asked some of the workers at the cafe what they witnessed.
Here’s what they had to say.
When asked about their relationship, barista Anna Becker, stated that “Kaiser and Isagi, as well as many other members of Bastard München’s men soccer team, have been coming here for years. It’s always a riot when they show up, but we love it!”
She added that Kaiser and Isagi get along better than the public thinks, but she didn’t want to go into any details.
“It’s not my place and I don’t want to break their privacy or confidence accidentally,” Becker wanted to clarify. “I’ve learned there are many different ways to see their relationship, so please keep an open mind!”
When asked if Kaiser and Isagi are close in their personal lives and if this is a recent development, Becker did not wish to answer.
Becker seemed quite flustered at the questions and inquiries, as though she wasn’t sure how to answer them. We at Soccer Gossip Weekly suspect that she may have been trying to hide their burgeoning friendship. Maybe there’s something more nefarious in the works!
Is this a new PR stunt from Bastard München?
Another worker, Adam Franke, refused to comment because “Ness wasn’t there so [he had] nothing to say.”
When asked if he’d give any statement specifically regarding the legendary duo in question, Franke quipped that “Kaiser doesn’t like milk.”
Is this a turning point for these sworn rivals or nothing more than a bid to stay relevant? Perhaps their years as teammates have finally softened their hearts and they’re ready to begin a healthy friendship. Perhaps this is foreshadowing of these dual aces working together more on the soccer field!
Or much more likely, their old fame from their Blue Lock days is fading and they’re hoping to stir up some hot, new gossip. There have been rumors floating around the past few weeks that Bastard München’s longtime rivals, Berserk Dortmund, have some hot new blood! It could be enough to steal the Bundesliga win right out from under them.

They thought it was a fucking PR stunt? They thought Berserk Dortmund actually had a chance at beating them? Yeah, fuck that all the way to hell.
He and Kaiser needed a better plan. Immediately.
