Chapter 1: Other Biodome?

Chapter Text

When Simon was found by Adrian, he had thought he was dead. It took him weeks of Adrian constantly signaling that he was very much alive. Adrian had started to teach him their language and he got pretty good at it. When he was on their planet for about a year and a half he had learned enough of the language to have a full conversation but there were still words he didn’t understand here and there. The aliens also had to speak slowly in order for him to understand them.

They both found out that they couldn’t survive in each other’s atmosphere the hard way. Simon had almost lost his leg to Adrian’s atmosphere! They had to push him back into his atmosphere and injure their claw in the process. They both now have matching scars. Not the worst thing to ever happen. It wasn’t even close but god it hurt like a bitch for a few weeks.

It was interesting though. When these Aliens scar they don't just crust over like he had thought before, their skin(?) turns black or a darker shade of their color or just crystalizes.

Simon found that Adrian had a mate but their mate was on a mission at the moment and Simon was basically all that Adrian had. Simon knew what that felt like. Being alone. Sure he never had a significant other on Eden but that wasn’t allowed anyway. Adrian spoke highly of their mate. Like their mate was the only star in the universe that mattered. It was sweet, knowing no matter where you are in the universe, living things will always find things or beings that will keep them going no matter what. It comforted Simon. Adrian also explained that before Simon came along, they were almost about to give up but then Simon appeared and gave them a purpose again. Simon almost cried at that. Knowing that he was the purpose of an alien, of all things, was still going made his lungs fill with guilt and joy. He didn’t deserve this, he was a murder, the butcher. But when he was with Adrian, all of that seemed to fade away.

Adrian and Simon spent a lot of time figuring out how Simon got here, because it was clear he wasn’t from this side of the universe. Simon became almost fluent in their language in the process.Adrian explained that they found his sub near an undocumented portal, or black hole, and had to drag him out of it in space to keep him alive. He hadn’t told Adrian the whole story but he told them bits here and there. But from what Adrian had heard, they hated the people who sent Simon. They were grateful that they met Simon but they promised that he would never have to deal with anything like that again. They haven't let Simon feel alone like that since.

About four years into living on their planet, Adrian came into Simon’s biodome with something behind their back. Simon immediately got insanely curious and when he saw a flash of bright green and brown he knew what it was. When Adrian proudly presented the small sapling to him his heart melted and he couldn’t hold himself together. He didn’t even think to question how Adrian did it. He didn’t need to. He collapsed into Adrian’s hold and cried against the clear suit he was in. Adrian held him as he cried tears of joy, snot and tears got on the suit and when Simon finally let go Adrian made a small noise of disgust that pulled a laugh from Simon's chest. No matter how sad Simon was, Adrian always found some way to make him laugh or smile, which he had to get used to since living with them.

Adrian brought more and more plants for him. Every time, Simon felt tears weld up in his eyes, but he fought to keep them at bay. It got easier over time, he got used to this. Having Adrian bring him plants every week or so just became the norm. Soon his biodome was basically a jungle and he wouldn’t have it any other way. It was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen in his entire life. One day while he was hanging out with Adrian he just couldn’t help himself.

“It’s amazing you figured out how to grow plants. The soil, the leaves, it’s all…perfect? Real? I-i don’t know.” He said while holding a potted plant with both hands, one real and one a prosthetic made by Adrian. He was looking at it fondly, these plants gave him a purpose and something to take care of.

“Yes yes, used samples from other biodome to make soil and plants.” Adrian seemed pleased with their work. Not realizing what they said.

“...Other biodome?” Simon questioned. Whipping around with such force that he was sure he heard his neck pop. His eyes widen.

“🎵🎶….Adrian may have forgot about other biodome…” Adrian seemed shy about it, they curled their legs under their large body.

Simon was at a loss for words. There was a whole other biodome and he didn’t know. There was another human being and he didn’t know? How could Adrian just forget to tell him?

“Adrian, I love you, but don’t you think it's important for me to know about the other human?” His words came out harsher than he meant for them to be. But Adrian didn’t seem to notice.

“Was focused on plants for Simon. Forget to tell Simon about other human in other biodome. Apologies…”

Holy shit… there was a whole other human being on the planet. Simon doubted the human could be from the C.O.I much less Eden. That was a whole other universe for all he knows. But he still can’t be too quick to trust this person. He knows nothing about this for gods sake! They could be violent or rude for all he knows!

He needs time before he meets this other person.
