Swipe. Swipe. Swipe.
That's how every day after school ends for Kris. It's a boring cycle, really. Truly mundane. Kris hated it, but they never bothered to try and change things. They never cared enough to.
Kris set their knife into the drawer on their nightstand. They always hid it there. Kris didn't have a reason not to. Why were they thinking so hard on this?
They supposed it was because their Mother didn't check up on them anyways. Kris was never the favored child, having being adopted rather than their brother, Asriel, with all the posters and trophies and decorations.
They grabbed the knife from the drawer now. Thinking about things like this triggered Kris.
Swipe. Swipe. Swipe.
Just a few more.
Swipe. Swipe. Swipe.
Never enough.
Swipe. Swipe. Swipe.
They'd better stop, or else they might reach something they'll regret.
Swipe. Swipe. Swipe.
Swipe. Swipe. Swipe.
Swipe. Swipe. Swipe.
Swipe. Swipe. Swipe.
Swipe. Swipe. Swipe.
"Shit."
Too much blood.
They set the knife down beside them, and rushed over to the birdcage and under their bed, that's where Kris kept their blood rag.
They dabbed the rag on the cuts, holding it in place for a few seconds.
They removed the rag. Too deep. They stared down at the cut, you could see the fat bubbles. Some had oozed out with the blood.
It was sickening to Kris. Disgusting That's been under their skin.
Gross.
Best not come down for dinner. It stings. And stinks of blood.
A few tears fell from Kris' eyes. They wiped them away with their sleeve. Best not cry. What would Mom think?
What would their Mom think about the cuts?
What would their classmates think?
Ridicule. Laughter. A lecture from Mom and Dad.
Those thoughts spiralled through Kris' head.
It didn't matter. They'd die anyway.
They sat down in their bed, putting the knife back in the drawer. Where it belonged.
Kris lied down now. Staring up at the ceiling with a blank expression. Tears emerged from their tear ducts, but they didn't wipe them this time. Just let them linger. They didn't have the energy for this now.
Kris closed their eyes. Hoping that they wouldn't wake up.
