Chapter Text

Double Sided Coins — Chapter 1

The sun beats down on the white sand. Hot wind blows heavily as the water laps up and down onto the beach.

Giant ships are docked in the distance, smoke billowing from chimneys.

“..come on dude! The water’s fine, and i gotta bathe!”
says a girl, her clothes wet as she stands in the water.

A boy stands on the shore, contemplating the risk of making his mother angry for getting his robe all wet and dirty OR getting her mad.
He didn’t know which one was worse.

Originally coming here to train his powers, he just put on some fancy training robes. Iris had other plans though.

“Aeth! how long are you gonna be standing there?!”
yells iris, a blond/black haired girl with dark eyes that have dark circles under them.

Her clothing, albeit it wet now, consists of baggy pants and a large shirt with, depending on the season and weather, a sweater.

“Iris, unlike you, my parents care on how i present myself.”

“Don’t be so rude, mister!”

— — — —

The beaches were beautifull. Shame that it’s in such a dangerous spot.
A giant shadow jumps out, a large blob of ugly and stinking meat that vaguely resembles a humanoid figure.

It’s eyes, all hundred of them, dart from aeth to iris.

“Woah!.. Haven’t seen a giant one in ages!”
says iris as she steps next to aeth.

Aeth, already fueling up his energy, looks at iris.
“tch- You wastelanders see everything as a joke.”

“Aeth, sweetie. It’s obviously an C tier entity. barely resembles a human. It’s energy is all over the place.”

They both let their energy flow, the entity immidiatly shrieking and backing off.
“Is it scared?”

“They feel my intimidating aura, obviously!”

“The stinking aura that follows you?”

Iris glares at aeth.
“Bitch.”

They both take stance, before the entity gets split in half.

Black blood spills over the beach as the massive body falls over, slowly disintergrating into fire.
A large man with a sword stands infront of them now.
“..Oh.”

The head of the warman clan, Klaus ‘Silver’ Warman.

looking at iris, he shakes his head.
“Kid! You’re all wet, which restricts your movement.”

“And?”

“You’ll just be fodder for the beasts.”

“pff..”

“And you, mister denver.”

Aeth bows slightly.
“You look like shit.”

Of course.. ever since iris took him to meet her clan, they’ve made fun of his “put together look”.

Every man and women in the clan has wild and long hair, not caring about looks all that much.

“If you’re gonna be my daughters little boyfriend, you’ll have too change a few things or i won’t approve of you.”

Iris sighs.
“He’s far from a boyfriend, actually.”

“That’s what they all say.”

Aeth sighs as iris just grumbles.

Silver prods iris’s forehead.
“..kid, i know your energy and all is impressive but-“
he kneels down.
“You’re gonna get yourself killed with your fighting one day.”

The winds make their clothes billow, making aeth really stand out as his clothes stick to his body.

— — — —
The capital, lively streets and the smells are hard on the nose. As aeth walks past, he gets some looks because of the black blood on his clothing.
“Greetings, aether.”

A old man in some robes walk past. Someone from the royal council.

Aeth just feels his eyes bore in his back.

Aeth, not even really paying attention to his surroundings, puts up a single hand to signal a hello.
Something iris had taught her and which became a automatic response to a greeting for him.

The man scoffs as aeth quickly walks further.
“..kids these days, no respect for elders.”

— — — —

Iris sits in her cabin— atleast she calls it that, a boxroom that she decorated. A lantern flickers as some other girls just barge in.
“Ah!— Dude, knock before coming in!”

“Iriri!! did you meet up with that city slicker again..?”
They say in unison, almost shaking the cabin from
its foundations with the amount of excitement they have.

“Uhuh..”
She has a blank stare as they sit next to her.

“..You two doing some secret stuff???”
one asks, smirking stupidly.
“Like making out? You came back all wet!”

Iris grumbles loudly as she slaps both of them.
“Gah— you two are impossible.”

— — — —
Aeth sits in a bathtub, a servant scrubbing his hair roughly.
“..i can’t believe you went out into the wasteland again! If you got injured or worse, it would be detrimental.”

Aeth throws his head back against the head rest of the tub, rubbing his face.

Iris lays back on her bed, hands also on her face.

“..what a drag....”

Leaves crunch under boots, loud growling follows.

Panting, whimpering and out of breath.

!Crack!

“Fu-fuuuuuck!!”

The growling fades, a figure now appearing.

“St-staaay away!!—“

the figure leans over the man on the ground.

It’s face is blank, a clear void of absolute nothing makes the man irrationally fearfull.

The figure digs its fingers into itself, his face now morphing into a very disfigured version of the man.
Hair slowly grows as a very, very disfigured version of the man stands infront of him.

“H-huaa— w-what the FUUUUCK!!”
scrambling away, the figure doesn’t chase.

A distorted copy of the man’s voice rings out, loud like a broken radio.
“..H-huaaaa—- wwwŵħæ!!!—-“

The man cries out as he finally reaches the edge of the forest.

The wasteland rests infront of him.

No person would be stupid enough to enter the wasteland at night, but everything is better then that thing.

The sand kicks up behind the man as he doesn’t stop running.

Finally running out of breath, his hips buckle and he trips.

“H-hūææ—“

A sharp pain, before darkness.

The figure, now more like a human, holds the heart of the man. He screams out.

The heart dissapears, the man turns to stone.

it’s face displays numerous positions before going back to a completly blank stare.
It has copied it’s voice perfectly.
