Chapter Text
Craig’s pov:
It all started at South Park's fall festival.
“Come on man it won’t be so bad once you're there!” Clyde says reassuringly on the drive to this dumb festival our town throws every year “You know how I feel about large crowds dude.” I said in rebuttal me and Clyed have been friends for years. He knows that I think crowds are too loud and full of too many people.
I can't understand them most of the time and they don’t understand me. A sigh escapes a defeated Clyde I feel a small smile form I won another argument but my smile drops once I see were we are now parked there are bright lights a few fair rides and just as I guessed a large amount of people…grate
“What’s up Scott I didn't know you were the one doing tickets this year!” My best friend yells out while walking up to the ticket booth I follow close behind. I slowly detach from my surroundings trying to ignore all the noise focusing on the tapping of my finger on the inside of my pockets. It doesn't take long for me to be dragged along by Clyed to some of the very few fair rides they have.
I don’t mind fair rides much. I even quite enjoy some of them. Once we rode the rides we wanted to Clyed drags me to the food truck section of the festival I can smell mostly sugary smells however there is the sounds of things being deep fried I don’t enjoy festival food trucks so I follow aimlessly with the slightly shorter boy suddenly “Omg hey Clyde!" A familiar woman’s voice called out I knew who it was and it made me wince slightly. “ Bebe I didn’t know you’d be here!” A clear lie escaped Clyde’s lips. I just rolled my eyes though keeping quiet.
Knowing Clyed would get swept into conversation with his ex-girlfriend Bebe I walked off and out of the festival it’s already dark out. It isn’t completely cold out yet but it isn’t summer by far. The colored leaves on the ground crunching under me attest to that focusing on the sound as I walked I almost didn’t notice the run down park playground, finally a place I can sit in quite bliss.
Sitting down on one of the two swings slowly rocking my hips back and forth, feet planted on the ground not swinging up I was gazing up at the stars one of the few things I loved about this town was how you could see the stars so clearly at night I started repeating the constitutions in my head as I swayed but never swung in the swing.
Then suddenly
“GAH fuck ahh I need out fuck.”
My silence was quickly interrupted to my dismay as a figure came rushing dropping to the ground knees to chest as they leaned on the back of one of the playgrounds walls the rambling stopped however a slight sob started up with twitches with an occasional loud noise. Grate now a fucking tweeker on drugs has come to the same playground can’t I just have one second of peace I let out a slight groan and sigh while starting to set off.
“Mom ack can you please come pick me up now-ugh- it’s too loud!”
The stranger stuttered out after a minute he continued “ What! Eerrr can’t you pick me up now?? Yes I know ack that you dropped me off 10 mins ago, no I don’t need to stay!” But then a sob started to pick up again as the silhouette let the phone fall from their ear.
I started to shift uncomfortably from side to side. I could go back to the noisy festival or sit here with this noise.
Fuck
With a heavy sigh I start stepping towards the stranger the moonlight shows just enough for me to see it’s another male but he has messy blonde hair. I have yet to see his face however it is in his hands. I sit down on the ground next to him. He looks up flinching after seeing me. He has green eyes and now I can tell he’s around my age “OMG ACK PLEASE DONT KILL ME!” The strange blonde said tear filled but now fearful eyes.
“ I won’t” I said rather calmly this made him give me a puzzled look. I pointed up to the night sky while continuing to say “you can see the Northern star from here.” The blonde let out a small gasp and he stoped crying. Thank gosh “whoa you can” the green haired male said in an almost whisper.
Confused, I looked back to the stranger, “Have you never seen the northern star?” The blonde perked up the moonlight didn’t give me much to work with but I could see the embarrassment in his face as he spoke “w-well no I used to live in a big city you couldn’t really see the stars.” I questioned further “I knew you didn’t seem familiar, why did your family move here?” The stranger shifted from side to side “ The business did well in the city and we wanted to open another location. Part of the reason they chose this town was for me.” He moved his gaze to the ground
“I begged to move to homeschooling. I never did well in big classes but with the Coffee shop that could never happen so they decided to move to a small town with a small high school.” I gave a slight hum so he is around my age “what grade are you in ?” The green eyed male let out a genuine chuckle while stating “my senior year can you believe that! They finally listen to my pleas at the last second.” With a raised eyebrow “That isn’t logical at all and let me guess they dropped you off at the dumb festival so you can ‘make friends’ before fall break is over?”
The forest green eyes widen “spot on! How’d you know??” Now it was my turn I lightly chuckled pointing to his phone “I also heard you say ‘need out’” the blondes eyes now looked off to the side in embarrassment it’s hard to see under moonlight but his green eyes are making this easier
The forest green eyes looked back and they seemed curious “Are you in high school??” He said this while slightly leaning in “I’m a senior same as you.” I said matter of factly I saw the man’s shoulders relax before asking shyly “Can I-i sit with you at lunch and in class I- if we have any together?” I thought it over I mean it makes sense why he would want to but do I really want more noise in my lunch? But then I thought about it more Clyed would talk to him more then me same with Tolkien and Jimmy I felt genuinely more relaxed.
A slight nod of confirmation and a loud sigh soon followed “oh thank goodness I was so worried.” Then a sudden stiffness “wait I didn’t get your name!” “I’m Craig, what about you?” I wanna know this stranger's name, “I’m Tweek.”
Silence
“No” I answer plainly
A huff “do you not believe me???”
I know my eyes are wider than usual “Of course I don't believe you!” I said in disbelief “What’s your last name?” I narrowed my eyes
Silence
“Tweak…”
“Now you're just pulling my leg!” I said mouth agape that just doesn’t make logical since
‘Tweek’ looked away in a huff.
I gave a sigh covering up a chuckle. “The school gives you your ID on the first day, show me that and THEN I’ll believe it.” The blonde looked back with a pleasant smile across his face “deal” he held out his hand I froze for a moment just a moment I don’t like touch it took Clyed years to even be able to hold on to my wrist and an occasional hug.
But something stirred in me. His smile was so pleasant and eyes looked like gems under the moonlight with a gleam of light on them. I moved without thinking “deal” I replied while my hand interlocked with his. It's soft how strange.
“Hey can you tell me more stuff about space?” Tweek said with a casual tone “only if we can move to the swings.” The blonde stood up and headed to the swings practically jumping onto the swings he kicked his legs up to fly higher up a little I sat in the one next to his
“You switch moods quickly.” I said in a statement like tone I saw the blonde shudder slightly before replying “People always say I’m wired.” He continued to swing higher, kicking some mulch as he did “People don’t get me either.” I said gazing at the ground before turning my head to meet Tweek's gaze he gave me a smile and I felt one tugging on the ends of my lips as well
We sat there for a few minutes I talked to him about space and the stars. I won't lie. I only came here for quite and only helped this stranger for my selfish reason to keep quiet. I know I’m a selfish man.
RING
RING
“Ack!” The blonde shrieked while reaching for his phone he pulled it up to his face “oh okay y-yeah I’m at the park n-near by.” I could see his small twitches come back. I rested my head on the chain of the swing. I don't like sudden noises but I guess they are soft enough not to annoy.
“I have to go- ngh I-I’ll cya at school.” The blonde stuttered out and I gave a nod “yeah I better get back before my friend sends out a search party again” I say with an eye roll this earns a laugh from the blonde who covers his mouth when he laughs. He of course doesn’t know that this is a statement and not a joke. The strange blonde walks off seemingly towards the parking lot of the school nearby.
After a few minutes of walking I start hearing the noise of crowds come back and bright lights to my annoyance “CRAIG FINALLY I FOUND YOU” I hear before getting wrapped in a hug from a tearful Clyed “Err yeah I just went for a walk I couldn’t stand the noise” I say while struggling out of the slightly shorter males hands.
The brown haired male put his hands on his hips in a rather sassy manner and with a huff stated “A walk you were gone for two hours man!! The festival is closing in a few!” Oh I didn’t notice how much time had passed I gave a shrug this earned an eye roll from Clyed “come on man I promised your mom to drop you off after.”
The car ride back home wasn’t special Clyed just yapped about his conversation with Bebe.
“Cya at school Craig!!” My brown haired friend yelled out as I walked through the door of my house. Everyone was already in their rooms for the night so I was able to make it to my room without small talk.
I close and lock the door behind me before grabbing a box from the back of my closet. I take it out of the box and plug it in immediately. A ray of stars and colors light up my dark room. This is my guilty pleasure. I've had it since I was a kid but stopped publicly showing people after 6th grade.
I finally lay my head on my pillow looking over the stars on my roof. I soon drift off into sleep.
I don’t wanna go to school tomorrow.
At least the blonde will be there….
