Chapter Text
Dai-Cin Risothis, former Padawan and newly christened Journeyer, is prepared to begin their Great Journey across Tython. They are excited to practice at each of the Nine Temples. Their Master? Not so much.
“My Padawan, all grown up and a Journeyer! I’m so proud! I’ll miss you so much!” Master Carelmul has always been like this, the emotional type.
“Master Carelmul—“
“Six years I’ve known you and you still won’t call me Master Tasplei!”
“—I am not leaving for Nox, I’ll still be on Typhon.” Dai-Cin finishes. It is not the first, nor will it be the last time that Master Tasplei Carelmul has gracefully cut them off mid-sentence.
“You will remember to holovid me?”
“Of course Master Carelmul.”
“Do you have everything you need packed?”
“I triple checked my bags Master.”
“Have you said goodbye to your friends?”
“They wouldn’t have let me go if I hadn’t, Master.” Dai-Cin starts inching towards the path away from the Padawan Kesh.
“Don’t forget to holovid your parents!”
“I really must go Master” They start walking quickly down the path.
“Goodbye Dai-Cin! Goodluck, I better see you again!” Master Carelmul hollered.
Dai-Cin turns back one more time and yells “Of course Master! Where else would I go?” Smile on their lips before entering the forests around the Temple that had been their home for almost 13 years.
Two hours later they hit a clearing and decide to break for lunch. Setting their sword next to them in the ground and grabbing their first ration in the way. They know from past experiences that carrying a week worth of food is important, no matter the journey.
Flexing around Dai-Cin realizes “Huh, I’m alone for the first time in my life.”
No funny Master making jokes, no friends to follow aimlessly, no bratty little sister to watch, no brother that will sneak data pass datapads from their fathers archive; just well and truly alone.
Throwing their head back in slight frustration. Of course they’d been prepared to make this journey their entire life. It's just- something catches their eye.
“What is that?” Standing up and turning around to look closer.
A small flat disc, perhaps the size of their palm, lies on the ground. Covered in a language that isn’t Dai Bendu and not one Dai-Cin can recognize. They attach their sword back onto their belt and swing the straps of their bag back onto their shoulder before going to inspect this unknown artifact closer.
It looked old. “Could it be from the Migration? Maybe from the Tho Yor themselves? But then how would it be lost…” they descend into quiet mutterings.
The disk is lightly covered in foliage and even a bit buried. Running the risks in their head Dai-Cin decides that it’s best to take it with them on their journey. They’re going to Kaleth after all, there must be something or someone in the Temple of Knowledge that will know what the disc is.
They bend down to pick it up. It’s warm to the touch but then it quickly starts to get hot and glow “What the—“
Dai-Cin Risothis disappears in a brilliant flash of light. Those who knew them feel their disappearance in the Force, Master Carelmul, who had been busy with cleaning, runs out of the temple in a hurry. A search party is called but they only find the stale remnants of what was probably Dai-Cin’s lunch.
It is not the first time a Journeyer has gone missing on their Great Journey and it will sadly not be the last.
