comfort and chaos

Summary:

Shane and Ilya can't wait to spend their summer together after being kept apart by hockey and related events. In the summer, nothing waits for them, and they can love each other properly without fear in the haven provided by the cottage. Something that starts as a small deviation from their norm becomes a revelation, and a reminder that love can be all-consuming in a way unlike anything else.

Chapter Text

It took Shane a moment to register where he was after he first woke up. The mid-morning sun was shining through the windows, reflecting on the lake so that it almost sparkled. A few wispy clouds moved through the sky, not enough to block the light but enough to provide some shade. Despite the summer heat, the bedsheets felt cool and soft on his skin. And best of all, he realized, he wasn’t alone.

Ilya was still asleep on his chest, one arm flung over his stomach and his cheek pressed over his heart. Shane had an arm wrapped around his shoulders; he’d wanted to keep him close during the night. His dark blond curls were endearingly messy, so Shane couldn’t help but thread his fingers in them. Ilya subconsciously nuzzled into his skin at the touch, which meant Shane also had to kiss the top of his head. His hair smelled like the coconut conditioner Shane had used on him last night, when he’d given Ilya a scalp massage in the shower and felt him relax under his hands.

Shane wasn’t sure how long he’d been staring when he saw Ilya blinking awake. It was adorable watching him have the same experience waking up, taking a few moments to actually realize where he was. When Shane met his boyfriend’s gaze, he felt almost giddy. Ilya was looking up at him with half-lidded hazel eyes through long, dark lashes, mouth curved into a soft smile.

“Hi, my Ilya,” Shane murmured, just above a whisper. He was still processing the fact that they were finally together at the cottage. For the whole summer. When they had minimal responsibilities, and the only thing they needed to be were Shane and Ilya, not as hockey stars but as two people in love.

Ilya let out a contented sigh. “Hi, lyubimyy.”

They took a moment to just look into each other’s eyes, Shane’s hand tangled in Ilya’s hair and Ilya’s hand resting on Shane’s shoulder. Because they had the time and the space where they could touch however they wanted and spend hours looking at each other how they were meant to.

Before long, Ilya pressed a kiss to Shane’s sternum, then to his collarbone. He pressed another one, lingering longer than the first, to his pulse point, then on his cheek.

Shane kissed him back when Ilya pressed the first chaste kiss to his lips, before Ilya grinned a little and gave him another one, still close-lipped but a little longer. The third one was deeper because Shane held him there, and Ilya seemed to agree, because it only took him a few seconds to slide his tongue along Shane’s lips and into his mouth. Shane sighed into him, bringing his other hand to cup the back of Ilya’s neck. It wasn’t desperate, like the first kiss they had last night when Ilya had first arrived; this one was slow and saccharine, a recognition that they had the entire summer together to just be with each other, in any way they wanted.

The two of them stopped for a moment to breathe, but pulling away was too much, so they stayed with their foreheads pressed together, mouths barely an inch apart. Shane smiled, in awe at the amount of time they had to have this whenever they wanted.

“Good morning, baby,” he giggled quietly against Ilya’s lips. Shane felt his boyfriend exhale against him before replying.

“Good morning, solnyshko.”

And then Ilya’s mouth returned to his, and everything felt so right. His lips were so warm, and Shane’s brain was turning off. He couldn’t help bringing his hand to Ilya’s cheek, running his thumb along the soft skin, keeping his other hand tethered in Ilya’s silky curls. Ilya gripped his shoulder in one hand, using the other to hold his pec, kneading the muscle and making him gasp. He didn’t miss when Ilya shifted on top of him, settling between his legs and making him let out a surprised noise at the contact. They hadn’t bothered putting anything on before going to bed, so Shane could feel all of Ilya against him. Which meant he could feel Ilya growing desperate too. He could feel the first roll of Ilya’s hips against his own, slow and calculated. Ilya moved his lips from Shane’s mouth to his jaw, and then to his neck. They went to the spot under his ear, which always drove him mad, and he couldn’t hold back anymore.

“Leave a mark,” Shane requested, voice just above a whisper. “Please. I need to see you on me.”

Ilya smirked before he began to suck on the sensitive skin, not enough to hurt but enough that Shane felt the pressure and the delicious strokes of his tongue. Another reason he loved the summers was that his boyfriend could claim him like this. That theoretically, if someone saw him out and about, they would know he belonged to someone.

When Ilya finished, he took a second to admire his work before he locked his lips with Shane’s again. He kept his hands in Ilya’s hair, on his jaw, his neck, because that was where he wanted them. But he was still perfectly content with Ilya’s travelling downward, one of them holding his waist while the other went to his groin, stroking over his hipbone and then going even lower. Shane let out a gasp when Ilya pressed two fingers inside of him. He was still prepped because they had fucked last night, frantic on the couch after weeks of being apart.

Ilya pulled back to look at him while he stroked him slowly, and he looked delectable. His lips were pink and kiss-swollen, eyes darkened with need, and his curls unruly from Shane’s never-ending touches. He let out a whine as Ilya stroked him slowly before leaning down to whisper in Shane’s ear.

“Do you want?” He asked, voice sultry and low. He added a third finger,  ensuring he was open and comfortable. Shane loved how Ilya always checked on him, even if he was ready to go theoretically. Shane relished the feeling of Ilya’s fingers inside him, helping him relax, and he let out a soft whine before answering.

“Yeah,” he exhaled.

Ilya removed his fingers and reached toward the drawer to grab the lube, getting himself ready while Shane wrapped his legs around his waist. He wanted Ilya as close as possible.

Once Ilya was ready, he traced the bridge of freckles on Shane’s cheek with his other hand.

“Okay,” he whispered, propping himself up on his arm. And then he pushed in.

Shane’s eyes fell shut, back arching off the bed as he felt Ilya enter him. He’d been inside Shane just yesterday, but that didn’t mean he would ever get used to the feeling. He always fit perfectly; when Ilya was fully inside him, Shane always felt so full that it knocked the air from his lungs. He opened his eyes to find Ilya looking down at him with so much adoration that it almost hurt. Shane held his boyfriend’s beautiful face in his hands, running his thumb along those perfect pink lips, which were shiny and slightly open. He wanted to live in this moment forever.

“Baby?” Shane asked, because it might be nice to try.

“Yes?” Ilya whispered, eyes never leaving Shane’s face.

“Can we stay just like this for a bit? Please?”

—————

Ilya didn’t exactly understand why Shane hadn’t wanted to start right away, like they usually did. But Ilya could never say no to him when he called him baby, and he asked so nicely.

He understood now.

Sometime after Ilya had lowered himself, body flush with Shane’s, time had slowed to something syrupy and everything else had fallen away. And somehow, even though he didn’t think it was possible, Shane looked more beautiful today than Ilya had ever seen. His hair was messy, and Ilya had, at some point, threaded his fingers in it. The sun had created a golden halo around the shiny black strands, and Ilya knew this was the closest he would ever be to seeing an angel. His glossy brown eyes were looking up at him with reverence, those adorable freckles standing out against his flushed cheeks, swollen red lips almost begging to be kissed. But Ilya couldn’t stop looking at him.

Maybe because Shane felt more divine around him by the second. Like his body was molding to Ilya’s more and more, becoming so impossibly warm and tight and addictive that he wasn’t sure if he was even alive anymore because this had to be what heaven felt like.

Ilya let out a noise he didn’t know he could make, a choked sob that came from his chest in place of the words that his body couldn’t get out.

You ruined me. You melted me down to my core and now all I am is yours.

One of Shane’s hands was cupping Ilya’s cheek, the other on his jaw, with his thumb resting on the curve of his lips. He looked just as gone as Ilya, his big brown eyes hazy and lovesick. Shane’s mouth was slightly open, as if he was about to say something, but it took another moment for him to actually do so.

“Ilya,” Shane breathed out, shaky and wrecked. It was just his name, but the way Shane said it set Ilya on fire and made it so he could finally, finally kiss him.

Shane responded immediately, sliding his tongue into Ilya’s mouth and tangling his fingers in Ilya’s curls, gripping them like a lifeline. His legs tightened around Ilya’s waist, and Ilya gave an experimental roll of his hips, just to see what would happen.

The kiss was broken immediately, only because Shane threw his head back and let out a delicious little whine. Ilya decided to take it a step further, pulling almost all the way out before sliding back in. Shane’s long, dark lashes fluttered, and he let out a cry so loud that the ten acres of land they had became crucial.

Ilya needed more.

He gripped Shane’s face in his hands and locked their lips before repeating the movement. Shane let out another loud moan, but Ilya swallowed this one up as Shane’s legs tightened around him, fingers scrambling for purchase on his back.

They always had amazing sex. The two of them had figured out what worked a long time ago, early in the days of infrequent hookups and nothing more. It was something they’d been able to carry into their relationship when they’d actually started dating, and adjust as their emotional connection grew over time. But this was nothing like that. The idea of dirty talk, switching positions, anything other than their bodies melded together, was not even a blip of the radar.

This was earth-shattering. The bed shook under the force as they fucked like their lives depended on the pleasure. Shane scratched at Ilya’s back as he let out the most gorgeous sounds into his mouth. Ilya sucked on Shane’s tongue as they vibrated throughout his body, making the electricity that flowed through him all the more potent. He knew he was at the best angle because Shane was becoming louder, meeting Ilya’s thrusts as he kept pounding into him, nails digging further into his skin. There would be marks later and Ilya would live for it. Tears were running down their cheeks as they kissed and Ilya could taste the salt and he’d never felt this amazing in his life. His eyes had been closed since he’d first kissed Shane, but when one sense was gone, the others heightened. Ilya didn’t need to open them; the delicious moans from Shane’s mouth and the taste of him and his hands on his skin and the tight, perfect heat around him were so much more than enough.

Ilya kept up the consistent pace until Shane started clenching around him, and that was when he actually went mad. He started going faster, deeper, harder, and Shane was tugging at his hair and squeezing his hips with those perfect thighs, and Ilya was going entirely on instinct. Shane was whimpering into his mouth, getting louder with each thrust into him, and Ilya knew he was almost there. He pulled all the way out, and Shane whined at the absence before he slammed in.

Once Shane started to climax, it only took Ilya two more thrusts before he followed because Shane let out a sound so intoxicating that Ilya could bottle it up and get drunk from it. Shane’s back arched off the bed as he cried out, loud and raw and gorgeous, before tapering off into a quiet little whine. White-hot pleasure flooded Ilya from the inside out, a punched-out moan escaping his chest as his whole body reset from the new plane of existence they’d discovered.

It took about 15 seconds for Ilya to come back to himself once he’d finished. He found that Shane’s thighs had fallen from his hips, which usually happened if he had an orgasm as long as this one. His head had also fallen to Shane’s shoulder. Ilya took a breath before lifting it, and for the first time since the world had stopped moving, he opened his eyes.

Shane was gazing up at him, beautiful brown eyes blown wide with awe, lashes still a little wet, and he was fucking ethereal. He was practically glowing, flushed a light-ish red that matched his kiss-swollen lips and complemented the constellation of freckles across his tear-stained cheeks and the bridge of his nose.

“Oh my god,” Shane whispered. His hands returned to Ilya’s face, cupping it gently and running his thumb along his cheekbones. Ilya could help but smile softly at his love.

“Yes, sweetheart,” Ilya gasped. Shane grinned back, the one that lit up his eyes, reserved just for the two of them, and his heart clenched. “Oh my god.”

Ilya pulled out slowly and carefully, so Shane stayed as comfortable as possible, and collapsed beside him. He turned onto his side, and they just looked at each other for a moment.

Shane broke the silence with a giggle, staring at Ilya like he’d hung the moon and stars. “That was—”

“Yes,” Ilya responded. It was all he could say. There were no words for what he’d felt.

“I think I need a break for a couple of days,” Shane admitted.

Ilya reached out and touched his cheek, caressing the bridge of freckles he always ached to touch. “I think I’ll be able to cope.”

Shane covered Ilya’s hand with his own, leaning into the touch. He still had that adorable, unabashed smile on his face, and Ilya wanted to drink in the sight.

“I love you so much,” Shane murmured, just for the two of them to hear.

Ilya leaned in, pressing their foreheads together. He loved basking in the calm after the storm; his breathing evened out and oxytocin coursed through his nervous system. All he wanted now was to keep his lovely, perfect Shane close to him for as long as possible. Ilya met his eyes, and he couldn’t help the grin that spread across his lips.

“I love you too,” he whispered into the small space between them. “Always.”

Shane blushed at that, and it was so endearing that Ilya leaned forward to kiss the bridge of his nose. He responded by dropping his face to Ilya’s neck, softly nuzzling the spot where it met his shoulder, and Ilya cupped the back of his head. Shane giggled a little before he opened his mouth to speak.

“I wanna clean up and take a bath with you,” he said, voice filled with nothing other than adoration. “But I don’t wanna move.”

Ilya kissed his forehead, softly scratching his scalp. Shane let out a quiet sigh and wrapped an arm around his waist.

“We’ll relax again in there, sweetheart. As long as you like.”

Shane smiled against him, letting out another little giggle. “Thank you, baby.”

Ilya gave him another kiss, simply because he could. Shane’s hand moved to rest on the small of his back, and he realized that his love was the only thing he needed. Right now, they had so much time for their own little world, and he was so grateful, and that was enough.

“Of course, my angel,” Ilya whispered, smiling into Shane’s temple.

“Anything for you.”
