Bookmarker's Notes
Nice story of friendship and support. Fun and entertaining look at how canon events such as the outing could have happened the way they did, but without Shane being turned on by Montreal.
The author chose to leave it up to the reader on whether Shane stays in Montreal or moves to Ottawa under UFA once he's not miserable in Montreal. The ability to choose is all I want for Shane, and the fact that choices are repeatedly stolen from him is my biggest point of dissatisfaction with TLG, so I like reading a reasonable canon divergence story for how he could get there.
That said, because the question is left to me, this story just misses my hall of fame stories. Still very good and entertaining with lots of funny lines and great character interactions. Not as frequent a reread as stories where Shane makes that decision and chooses which consequences he wants to live with, but that's only because I feel a little edged and then abandoned. People without the quirk of intense desire to have that thread tied up find this story fully delightful.

Summary
There was an experiment once, a Russian guy who trained dogs to drool with just a bell; Ilya wonders if that’s what’s happening to him.
Or: Shane, chronic clothes rewearer, steps out in those blue shorts again, and Ilya kinda has to do something about it (again).

Summary
“Can’t hang out tonight, Hayd. I have plans.”
“Bullshit,” Hayden responds. “You never have plans.”
Objectively, this used to be true. Nowadays Shane has many, many plans, between his nightly plans to look at Ilya’s penis through Skype and his various long-term plans laid out helpfully in his notebook, Canva (For Ilya’s sake. He is a visual learner), and more recently, Excel. Shane loves that excel sheet. He’s colour coded it.
In 2017, Shane Hollander spirals and proposes to his boyfriend of 4 days (or 7 years, or 9 years, or not his boyfriend at all, depending on how you look at it), which leads to a lot of plans, weird theories in the Montreal Voyageur locker room, some Twitter drama, and Ilya Rozanov entering his WAG era.

Bookmarker's Notes
Entertaining and interesting look at how things might go if they got married right away and didn't hide much. I like the more nuanced take on the Montreal team. There's still a lot of toxic behavior and attitudes, and it still becomes a place Shane wants to leave, but there's a lot more nuance than in the novel.

With Russia banned from competing in World Juniors, Shane and Ilya don’t meet until draft day. How is their story different without those first few interactions and without the media’s “rivalry” obsession?

Bookmarker's Notes
The canon divergence is thoughtfully mapped out, and I like seeing how Shane's anxiety plays out when the stakes are lower than in canon but still very real. I like that the teams are friendly enough but not overly involved in each other's lives. And I really like how Shane and Ilya's relationship develops and how they solve their various problems throughout.

Summary
After the cottage, Shane and Ilya’s lives look the same, but so much has changed. Hiding their love is hard, but maybe they don’t have to hide it from everyone.
Inspired by the idea that coming out happens over and over again through our lives.

Canon divergence in which the boys open their lives up to their friends much earlier and they get the social support they need. Really enjoyable read with good banter and a deft hand at drawing relationships between people who don't meet in canon.
