Chapter Text

It had been a while since Chris had seen Leon last. It was so good to have run into him during everything that went down on Alcatraz. Fighting side by side gave him such a thrill and after the battle he desired to stay by his side. He didn’t want to see Leon walk away from him again.

He asked Leon if he could come over for old time’s sake. Drinks and decompress after a shared near death experience. He was sure that Leon was going to pass on the offer but he said “okay, sure,” instead.

Things between the two of them had always been complicated. There was an undeniable connection between them but it had never been pursued.

Work and related business kept them separated for the better part of the years and besides that, they had their own lives and their own problems that built up like barriers between the two of them.

Years passed and time only made things harder. They became older and none the wiser for it. The thought of ever settling down seemed impossible. Leon believed he was fundamentally unloveable with an extensive history of damage and baggage and Chris had his own issues that went unresolved.

The insecurity and doubt, the trauma and anger, the grief and the rage… Chris knew he would make a bad mate. He never learned how to manage his emotions and he bottled it all up until everything came spilling out.

There was a saying that went something like, “If you don’t heal your wounds you will spill blood onto people who didn’t cut you.” Chris bled in the worst ways and nobody stayed. Despite that… Chris couldn’t help but yearn to have a mate. He had so much love hidden deep inside of him and the desperation to give all he had to someone special overwhelmed him.

When Chris was around Leon he was overcome by the urge to be with him. Hell, even when he wasn't around Leon he still felt that way. He couldn't let his selfish feelings to love him go.

“We’d be so good together… Wouldn’t we?” Chris asked over drinks and Leon shook his head with a sigh. He took a drink before he replied.

“We’ve been down this road a thousand times, Redfield. We’d kill each other within a year. We’d be a horrible match and you know it. We both have way too many issues. I can’t take care of what’s wrong with you and you can’t take care of what’s wrong with me.” Leon avoided the look in Chris’ eyes.

Leon stared down at his drink. He concluded, somewhat bitterly, somewhat factually, “And love isn’t like the movies. It can’t fix anything, especially not us. So… Let’s just skip to the end where we walk away after enjoying these drinks and don’t hate each other. Okay?”

They were sitting in the living room. Leon sat on the sofa with his legs tucked in and his tail wrapped around him and Chris sat on the loveseat across from it.

There was a coffee table between them with a bottle of liquor and nothing else. They each held their glass. Chris wanted to object to everything Leon had said but he knew better.

If they got into another fight… It would only hurt them both and put the distance back between them. And it would prove Leon’s point, that they had issues. Chris knew he had a temper and was bad at managing it.

He stewed in his resentment for their situation. Leon frowned. The mood went sour and Chris regretted bringing it up. It still didn’t stop him from muttering, “You don’t know. Things could be good. Never know unless we try.” He kept his tone low and his eyes trained on the floor.

He didn’t want to face the look of pity in Leon’s blue eyes. Leon whispered back, “Fine. Maybe you’re right. But it’s not a risk I’m willing to take.”

“Why?” Chris grit his teeth so his voice didn’t raise too loudly. He could feel the fury firing up under his skin. He wanted to shout. He wanted to hit something. His heart rate was climbing and he could feel himself getting sweaty.

“Because…” Leon hissed, “It would hurt me to hate you.” The pain was evident in his voice and Chris longed to comfort him. He looked up at him and Leon wore a hard expression. It was a stubborn look that said Don’t even try. Leon’s walls were up and there was no getting past them.

In a way… Chris realized… Leon was protecting them. He loved Chris too much to lose him in a bad relationship. If they remained friends… Work aquantinces… Whatever the hell they were… They could keep doing this. Share space.

Not hate or resent each other over the failure of a bad relationship. There was no bad blood between them. Even if they longed for each other until the very end.

Chris was all Leon had and Leon was all Chris had. If they ruined the delicacy of their situations… They would have no one. It scared the shit out of him and he knew it probably scared the shit out of Leon as well.

They needed each other. But they couldn’t have too much, otherwise the balance would tip and everything would be ruined.

If they dated there would no doubt be fights, arguments, feelings hurt, emotions projected, blame cast, and they would be consumed with regret. They'd never want to see each other again.

Neither of them could live with that.

Leon met Chris’ eyes and Chris gazed back forlornly. It was true. They were doomed from the start.

It hurt. Chris sniffed hard and downed the rest of his drink. He focused on the sting in his throat instead of the sting anywhere else.

“You're right.” Chris stood up. “Sorry I mentioned it. Must've drank too much.” He blamed his emotions on the alcohol which was a bad coping habit. “I'll go.”

“I didn't say you had to go,” Leon glared up at him, ears tucked back in offense. There was a tension built up between them. They both could feel it. Leon whispered against his better judgement. “Just… Sit your ass back down, Redfield.”

It was emotional whiplash but there was no way Chris was going to disobey. Whatever Leon wanted… Chris wanted to give it to him. It was the alpha in him, so desperate to prove himself a worthy companion.

Leon poured them both another drink, filling the glasses all the way to the top. Chris raised his eyebrow and Leon grunted back. “Shut up and drink that." Chris didn't ask any questions. He drank the heavy serving of alcohol as Leon drank his.

“Ah…” Leon panted, wiping his mouth off with the back of his hand. His ears twitched. Chris winced and shook his head as well. He heard Leon's thick voice whisper roughly, like the alcohol had him burning, “There… Now don't you feel like… Mmn- Making some bad decisions?”

“What…?” Chris watched as Leon stood up. “Yeah…” Leon lowered his eyelashes and made his way around the coffee table to stand in front of Chris. Chris sat up straighter. He could smell the scent of sex wafting off the intoxicating omega in front of him.

“Leon… Are you sure?” Chris was breathless. He wanted Leon so fucking bad. His alpha was begging to claim the omega offering himself up in front of him. His cock twitched in his pants.

Leon shook his head faintly. He didn't feel sure about anything but he still lowered himself down into Chris’ lap. He wrapped his arms around his shoulders and kissed him.

“Mmm!” Chris groaned and hugged Leon tight, kissing him back hard and swallowing the taste of alcohol.

Leon moaned faintly and his ears tipped forward to the sound of the alpha's grunting. Their laps were hot pressed together, Chris' hardness meeting the damp spot between Leon's legs.

They both shuddered and tensed up, holding each other tighter. They moaned into the kiss and arched their backs. Everything in them pulled to be together. “Mmhh…” They closed their eyes and furrowed their brows and whimpered.

Their scents were strong, signaling a shared and clawing desire. Leon gripped the fabric of Chris' shirt and Chris pressed his hands wide open and firm against the beautiful omega's back. He wanted to tear the garment right off of him and they both knew Chris could.

Suddenly Leon grabbed Chris' face and panted desperately against his lips, catching his breath.

“Ohh…” Chris downright whimpered, so pathetic, falling apart in the hands of his impossible lover. “Leon… Are you sure you wanna have… Drunk sex?” He leaned into Leon's hands with his eyes shut. It felt so good to be held.

Leon shook his head faintly and murmured, “Mh-hm, Chris, not drunk sex…” He smoothed his thumbs over Chris' cheeks. He moaned as he tilted his hips and grinded his pussy along the shape of Chris’ cock. Leon whispered shakily, “Uhnn… Its pity sex…”
