Chapter Text

Katsuki walked slowly with Eijirou, wincing in pain as he did so. But he didn’t mind. He liked walking, and having Eijirou’s help was good. Aizawa would be pissed if they were found out, but it was just a walk. A little walk around the hospital hallway. It wasn’t a big deal.

Besides, he was in a secluded area of the hospital, right? It was fine.

Sure, he was nervous, but… he’s been in more dangerous situations than this one.

Eijirou held his hand and walked backwards in front of him, watching his feet steadily, murmuring a small “good, next step, good,” every few seconds. He loved it.

He wanted to stay here forever. With Eijirou, by himself, just the two of them. But he knew it wasn’t realistic. If anything, Aizawa would end up banning Eijirou from his room.

Katsuki groaned softly, stopping when he felt a cramp in his leg. He leaned forward, placing his head on Eijirou’s chest.

“Okay, okay, you’re alright,” Eijirou said softly, holding Katsuki up. “We should get back, Kats. I can help you stretch that out.”

Katsuki just shook his head. He didn’t want to go back. Not yet.

He just wanted to feel fucking normal, dammit. Couldn’t the universe let him have that?

Just this one thing?

It’d taken everything from him already- couldn’t he just have this?

Eijirou clenched his jaw tightly, pressing a kiss to Katsuki’s head.

“C’mon. You can walk all the way back,” he said softly.

Katsuki huffed, ignoring the tears already pooling in his eyes. He nodded, letting Eijirou help him turn in the hallway.

He barely even registered it when he heard shouting down the hall. Barely registered Eijirou picking him up and pressing his back to the wall, carrying Katsuki so they wouldn’t be in the way.

But he definitely registered the gurney moving past them at full speed.

Deku.

Izuku was lying on the gurney with an oxygen mask over his face and blood pouring from his side. He had bruises that rivaled Katsuki’s own all those years ago- two black eyes, a crack in his skull where he could see the blood had congealed in his hair.

Eijirou did his best, but Katsuki, struggling in his arms while trying to catch up to the gurney, didn’t help the situation.

“It’s okay, it’s okay,” he said over and over, putting Katsuki down as gently as he could while keeping his arms locked in place, keeping a now sobbing Katsuki away from the doctors and nurses ushering Izuku into surgery.

“Kats- Katsuki, we have to get you back into bed. You can’t help him right now- they’re doing everything they can,” Eijirou said- though the break in his voice gave away that he was barely keeping it together himself.

Aizawa appeared in the hallway just seconds later.

“What the fuck is he doing out of bed? Get him back in his room!” He scolded, looking at Katsuki as he struggled against the larger body.

Katsuki wailed. Reaching his arms out, doing his best to get away and get to Izuku.

He had to help. He didn’t know what the fuck he was going to do, but he had to help. Somehow, he was sure there was something that could be done.

“Stop.”

Aizawa came into view. He wrapped his hands around Katsuki’s face, tapping his fingers behind his ears, doing his best to ground him.

“Katsuki. Listen to me,” he said, talking through the sobbing. “They’re going to help him. Izuku will be fine. You have to get back to bed. You’re not going to be any help right now.”

Katsuki shook his head to the best of his ability.

Yes. Izuku will want to see you when he wakes up, which means you need to get back in bed before that. Do you understand me?” He asked, holding Katsuki’s face in his hands.

Katsuki stared at him for a moment before finally nodding.

“Come on. Let Kirishima help you,” he said gently.

Eijirou picked him up before he could even blink. He didn’t fight back this time- letting Eijirou get him into bed faster than he thought possible.

Eijirou held him close to his chest, forcing his own tears down in favor of helping Katsuki.

Katsuki just continued sobbing.
