Chapter Text
Keigo hums as he cleans his room up, moving all the comics on the floor to their respective shelves and sorting through the action figures Izuku likes to pose into fighting stances.
He was getting ready for a sleepover with Tenko, believe it or not. This would be the first time the boy would actually be allowed over to a friend’s house, his parents apparently being pretty strict about who he hung out with.
Which was… Suspicious to Keigo. He knows there can be strict parents but being so strict as to only let your kid out to school… He didn’t like that, honestly.
So this was special and he’d make it as comfortable as he possibly can for the boy.
Plus, it’d be his first time actually getting to play games other than his gameboy! He doesn’t doubt that Tenko would get addicted to the switch.
Keigo was excited, that is until Tenko had to cancel.
Yeah, that sucked. But most of all it was suspicious as hell.
The hawk just sighs, maybe he should bring it up with his Dad…
“Kei!” Izuku calls out to him, entering his room and immediately shoving his own phone in his face. “You left your phone in the living room after your call? and it started to ring so I answered- it’s um. Touya. He says it’s important? And um, to tell you something about 'dust’?”
Keigo grabs the phone from Izuku with concern, “Ah, thank you baby bird- wanna go get Dad for me while I talk with Touya?” He hums with a small reassuring smile, ruffling Izuku’s hair when he nods and immediately runs out of the room. The Hawk quickly holds the phone up to his ear,
“Touya? Is everything okay?” Keigo questions with worry and that worry only growing when Touya doesn’t answer at first.
“I’m.. Not sure. Dusty- Sorry, Tenko- he uh, well. I followed him home. But his home is… A bar in an alleyway? And, er. Could you just hand the phone to your d- Aizawa-Sensei? Please?”
Keigo frowns, now biting his lip lightly with nerves. “Yeah, sure- of course.” He glances up just in time to see his Dad standing in the doorway with Izuku’s hand still holding onto the tired man’s shirt from where he probably tugged at him to wake him up from his nap. “Uh, Touya wants to speak with you.” Keigo says quietly and hands the phone over to his father. Aizawa takes it with a nod, and lightly pushes Izuku to his brother so he can go and speak with the flame-user in the hallway.
Izuku looks up at his brother with a nervous expression, “..Is everything okay?”
Keigo raises his hand and just rests it on top of Izuku’s head, “I’m… Not sure lil birdie.”
Aizawa comes back minutes later, giving one look at the nervous siblings and exhaling slowly. “Okay. The two of you will be staying here, I’ll be back with Touya in an hour or so. Possibly along with Tenko.” He says with his ‘hero voice’ starting to leak out in his tone.
Keigo pouts at that, and immediately grabs his Dad’s hand before he can leave. “Please let me come with.”
“Hon..” Aizawa sighs, hand coming up to pinch the brim of his nose. “You don’t have your pro hero license yet, there’s no way that I’m allowing you to come with me.”
The hawk stares down his Dad who stares back while Izuku fidgets in the background.
“...Kei can um, Kei can always st-stay back and wait for you while you go um… Yeah…” The 8 year old mumbles hesitantly, making both his Dad and his Brother look back at him. “As long as Kei stays s-safe.”
Keigo looks back at his Dad and he and Izuku both give him the biggest pleading eyes.
Aizawa inhales.
“Okay- fuckin. Ugh. I don’t have time to argue with you on this- do not engage in ANY form of fighting without my permission, got it? We need to go right now, Touya is waiting.” Aizawa looks over to Izuku, “Stay here with Zashi, we’ll be back, okay?”
“O-okay. Stay safe please..” Izuku says, looking down at his feet.
“We will, Izuku.” His Dad promises, along with Keigo who nods determinedly.
“Yeah, and we’ll be back before you know it lil birdie!” Keigo says with enthusiasm, despite his own worries. It makes Izuku look up with a little hesitant smile though, and that makes things at least a little better.
Touya is waiting in the alley when they find him, leaning against the wall with a frown on his face. There’s still a burn on his cheek from his training earlier that week, but it doesn’t really show that well in the dark. He squints over when he sees the sirens and Aizawa approaching him, raising a hand to wave.
“Don’t say anything, go over to where Hawks is waiting, got it?” Eraserhead orders, and Touya nods firmly. The boy, though listening to orders from a pro, is reluctant to walk away. He doesn’t want to leave, he wants to help. But he relents with a sigh, going away from Eraserhead and over to where Keigo is standing at the end of the alleyway along with the police and an ambulance on standby just in case.
“...What did you see?” Keigo immediately questions, letting his arm be grabbed and himself be dragged over to the side.
“He.. Tenko kinda just walked into the bar and I didn’t hear anything at first but… Then I heard arguing- then Tenko let out a scream. I don’t know what happened.” Touya sighs, messing with another burn scar on his arm that’s scabbing over. Keigo grabs his hand with a huff so he won’t make the scar worse,
“We’ll figure it out. D- Eraserhead is pretty good with these situations so..” Hawks hums, confident in his father’s ability to handle a situation like this. Though, it definitely doesn’t completely help his own nerves. Especially since it was a friend in this situation this time.
“Mhm.. I just hope Tenko’s parents haven’t been… Abusive this entire time. It’s a little strange that he’d talk about his Dad in such a good light all the time then… This happens.” Touya glares off to the side, “If it’s his other parent or some shit I’ll kill them.”
“Not very heroic, Cremation.” Keigo teases lightly, but then, “...though I’d help you hide the body.”
“Their body would be burned before you could even help.” Touya snorts, though his glare doesn’t lighten. Keigo just flicks his forehead in response to snap him out of his murderous thoughts. Touya goes to grumble something out at Keigo, but he spots Aizawa exiting the door with Tenko in his arms and he freezes.
The two boys impatiently wait for Aizawa to walk over, the man stops in front of them with a deep frown. Tenko is knocked out in his arms, head bleeding sluggishly and arm seemingly broken. “He’ll be fine, if that’s what you’re wondering. Physically he’s not in critical condition, we’ll get him to the hospital and then have him questioned by Tsukauchi. He’ll be staying with us under my emergency foster license.” Eraserhead glances over to the ambulance, and gestures towards it.
Keigo immediately gets what’s wanted and started to walk towards the vehicle along with his Dad and Touya, “...Do you know what happened?” He asks on their way there.
“..I’m not sure, kid. He was on the floor when I walked in knocked out already, and after searching the entire bar there was no one else there. He might’ve been abandoned, but we’ll see.”
Aizawa, Keigo, and Touya go to the hospital along with Tenko.
Back at home, Izuku is waiting nervously while he writes in his notebook in his bedroom. The All Might poster above his desk stares down at him and makes him.. Uncomfortable, for once. He looks away with a pout, All Might was cool and all but…
Wow he was bright. And his smile certainly makes him feel a little… Odd, in moments like these. When he’s nervously waiting for his brother and Dad to come back home.
He nervously nibbles on his pencil eraser, staring down at the paper in his notebook. He almost jumps out of his seat when a hand lands on his shoulder, he looks up to see his Papa looking down at him worryingly. “They’ll be back soon, bun. Sho sent me a message saying they’re on their way home.” Hizashi hums, running a hand through Izuku’s curls.
The 8 year old nods lightly, placing his pencil down and hopping out of his chair. He waddles two steps over to his Papa and gets a big hug from him. He was very tired and the warmth from the hug just made him even drowsier.
….It probably wasn’t a good idea to be staying up until three am waiting for his family to come back home.
“You’re goin’ straight to bed after they get home.” His Papa says sternly, though it’s lighthearted and not actually serious.
It still makes Izuku giggle though and nod, yeah he might pass out on his brother, honestly.
When the boy hears the door open he’s immediately detaching himself from the present mic classic hug and runs over to the door. His Papa is right behind him, letting out a fond sigh for his close-knit family.
He was so lucky to have them all and actually be able to worry over others he loves. Though sometimes it can be a painful process being so worried and nervous- the relief of having them all come home and seeing their smiling faces… It was certainly worth it.
“Why aren’t you in bed??” Keigo immediately questions when he sees Izuku, and the boy just looks sadly at his brother.
“I couldn’t sleep..” Izuku looks down to the floor in embarrassment, hand fiddling with his shirt.
Keigo immediately cracks, “Awww, lil bird…”
Touya sighs and walks forward, picking up Izuku with ease despite the boy being eight- He's still short. and turning to Keigo. “We’re going to bed now.” He deadpans.
“But where’s dad..?” Izuku questions, looking over to the door with a frown.
“He had to go back to the hospital to stay with Tenko, he.. Was more injured than we thought. He’ll be back tomorrow though, birdie.” Keigo reassures, rubbing his cheek against Izuku’s in a comforting way.
“...Will Tenko be our brother now?” Izuku questions-
Touya and Keigo both choke and cover it up with a cough.
“Okay kids- time for bed! We’ll talk more about it in the morning, kay?” Hizashi ‘chirps’ out, clasping his hands together.
Touya smirks, “But it is morning. Three am to be specific.”
“MORNING MORNING- Get to bed.” Hizashi says dramatically, pointing at Touya with a pout. “Gremlin.”
Izuku giggles tiredly.
A week later finds Tenko awkwardly in Detective Tsukauchi’s office, staring at the man in front of him and looking pretty uncomfortable. Though, it’s pretty fair considering he was just questioned about his personal life and deemed an orphan until Kurogiri decides to come out of hiding and talk with the detective as well.
Tenko sighs, looking down to his gloved hands in his lap and waiting for the detective to be done writing whatever he was writing down.
When the door opens he immediately looks up, meeting the eyes of Aizawa who’s been there for him for the last few days.
Aizawa, who’s his sensei and his best friend’s Dad.
Ugh, this was.. Awkward.
“Got everything you need, Tsukauchi?” Aizawa questions, not taking his eyes off of Tenko. When the detective nods and stands, Aizawa steps to the side of the open door.
“Yeah, but this.. Got a bit more complicated.” The detective sighs, looking over to Tenko then back to Aizawa. “On the bright side, Tenko here won’t have to go to court to testify or do anything else stressful. His recorded interrogation will be enough and he’s free to go live with you until… This ‘Kurogiri’ comes back. If Kurogiri isn’t guilty and he willingly testifies for what’s needed there’s a chance he’ll be able to take Tenko back. From what Tenko is telling me, Kurogiri is a good father and it’s another ‘parental’ figure in his life that abused him.” He whispers this, as to make sure to not stress Tenko out any further. “Tenko knows this, and he’s willing to go with you. It’s the best option, especially seeing as his friends live with you. A healthy environment is what’s needed right now while we… Sort through all this jumbled.. Ugh.”
Aizawa can almost feel the way the detective sighs in exhaustion.
“This case is… A bit sensitive, in terms of the abusive parental figure. It involves All Might and a very old villain. I will need to inform you of it all if you are going to house Tenko because Tenko could be targeted in the future, so you must keep him living with you a secret for his own safety. I’ll inform you of everything on a later date once I’ve consulted All Might. For now, take Tenko home and figure out the rest from there.”
“Right…” Aizawa inhales, silently wondering how he got into all this.
He looks over to Tenko again,
Ah. Right. His kids.
And his inability to not stand by and not care.
“Ready to go home, Kid?” Aizawa questions softly, making the kid look off to the side and nod slowly. “Alright. Cmon then, Keigo and Touya are waiting for you.”
At that Tenko actually perks up, and he’s out of his seat much quicker than he would’ve been before.
It makes Aizawa roll his eyes fondly and follow Tenko out the door, leaving the detective to let out a little laugh and close the door behind them.
When they get home, Izuku is the first to greet them. He opens the door and lets them inside, very shyly saying hello to Tenko.
“...I forgot about you,” Tenko hums, staring down the nervous 8 year old who looks up at him with a little smile. “Wow, you’re precious.”
Izuku immediately reddens and huffs in embarrassment, looking off to the side.
“Izuku why don’t you take Tenko to Keigo’s room, hm? I’ll get started on Dinner with Zashi.” Aizawa says, ruffling the boy’s hair and making eye contact with Hizashi who’s smiling at the scene.
The boy takes Tenko’s gloved hand after nodding at his Dad, dragging him to Keigo’s room and opening the door.
Inside of Keigo’s room Keigo is laying on his stomach on his bed and reading while Touya is being… Clingy, laying on Keigo’s back and looking over his shoulder. They both in unison look up and wave lightly.
Tenko blinks.
Oh.
This was… Domestic.
….
He has an odd feeling he was going to be coddled over the next few days.
He is. Haha.
Aizawa walks into Keigo’s room a week later to find Tenko hugging Izuku close to his chest and Izuku playing the switch while Keigo and Touya hover nearby.
It makes the tired man snort, “Well, that was quick.” He comments, making all four of the boys look up at him with wide eyes at being interrupted.
Tenko just looks away, clearly embarrassed.
“..Anyways, Tenko-” The boy looks back, frowning somewhat at Aizawa’s serious expression and tilting his head. “Kurogiri came out of hiding. But there’s… An issue. We need to talk about it in private, okay?”
Tenko feels dread in his chest, not really sure if he’s ready to hear what Aizawa has to say but…
…
Yeah this.. Him learning that Kurogiri was actually Aizawa’s past dead friend and currently not responding wasn’t really what he wanted to hear. But he has to reluctantly accept that they’re doing all they can for his proclaimed father.
In another week or so when Kurogiri finally becomes more responsive, he testifies.
It’s a very long process, especially when it comes to sorting through all of Kurogiri’s memories and- it’s just… A mess. A mess that Aizawa was dealing with most alongside Hizashi, so during one of the days that Aizawa is gone to help out with his old friend- Hizashi not coming along though wishing to- Tenko goes to the mall.
Yup, he goes to the mall.
This is.. A first. He thinks, walking by so many shops alongside Keigo and Touya. Izuku and Hizashi were here too- but they went to another shop while Hizashi threatened them to stay safe while they’re on their own.
It was a very soft threat, honestly. It wasn’t really even a threat.
“We should see the hero store, I think they have those new present mic plushies and I kinda wanna get one for Izuku’s birthday.” Keigo hums, swinging Tenko and Touya’s hands back and forward- seeing as he was in the middle of them both and holding their hands.
Clingy bird. Very clingy bird.
The trio walk until they reach the hero store, and Keigo pulls them inside. They’re immediately assaulted by the sight of All Might merch, seeing as he’s the number one hero and his displays are always going to be the first thing you see in most stores. But going deeper in they get to the good stuff. Keigo has to resist snickering at the sight of the Present Mic plushies, it was odd seeing your parent in stuffed form. Funny though.
Keigo grabs it off the shelf, showing it to Touya and Tenko who both let out a laugh. Touya rolls his eyes while Tenko shakes his head in an exasperated but amused manner.
The hawk takes the Mic plushie with him while they browse some more, Touya not so subtly knocks over an Endeavor figurine and Tenko ‘catches’ it with his ungloved hand- oh! Now it’s dust, how did that happen? Haha. Anyways. They don’t get caught and continue their gremlin activities of making fun of certain hero merch and picking out stuff for Izuku.
Though, at some point, another kid their age walks into the store and spots the trio almost immediately.
Keigo’s feathers ruffle slightly when he feels eyes on the back of his head, and he turns almost immediately to the kid that’s now approaching them. Touya and Tenko share a look, confused at who this kid was until-
“You’re that Shimura kid, aren’t you?”
Tenko freezes, Touya’s hands balled into fists, and Keigo frowns.
“You were my neighbor, y’know. I heard the screaming. You killed your family, didn’t you?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. My family was murdered by a man.” Tenko says through gritted teeth, inhaling shakily when the kid snickers.
“Are you so sure about that? Maybe you remember it incorrectly but why would you be the only survivor? And why would this ‘man’ be nowhere to be seen? Hm? My parents say you did it, and that you’d do it again with a villain’s quirk like yours.” The kid stares down Tenko, not seeing the way that Keigo and Touya are not having this right now.
“If you’re so sure Tenko killed his family then why haven’t you gone to the police?” Touya questions with his eye twitching, the kid turns to him and scoffs.
“I tried to. But they said that I was spewing bullshit, that a kid couldn’t do that. They’re fucking stupid.” The kid hisses out, “A villain is a villain no matter the age.”
“Wanna try telling what you just said to Tenko to a detective? Because what you said just now is sensitive information and currently being used in a case against the actual man who killed Tenko’s family and is still out there, not in custody. Why do you think there was no man when Tenko was found? It’s because he got away, dumbass. And if you’re not careful about what you say out in public, he might just come for you next. So shut the fuck up and watch your words.” Touya growls out, pointing at the kid with such anger on his face.
“Oh no, a man that doesn’t exist is going to kill me! I’m so fucking scared.” The kid mocks, “I bet if I called the cops right now and told them a kid with a disintegration quirk just dusted a store’s merchandise they’d come running down to arrest your ass and put you in prison where you belong.”
The kid gets punched before he can say another word, Touya and Tenko both blinking with wide eyes at Keigo who is looking absolutely livid.
“What-Fucking-Ever, my Pops is on his way here and you’re going to repeat everything you just fucking said to a detective. Fuck. You.” Keigo breathes out, then turns to his friends with an angry expression. “I’m just gonna come back for what we got for Izuku another day I don’t wanna ruin the surprise with…” Keigo glares back at the kid who’s holding his now bleeding nose on the ground, “This hypocrite here.” The hawk says, putting the items they were going to get on a shelf and hidden away.
He doesn’t think Izuku will really be paying too much to the merchandise around them when this kid was here, so the surprise won’t be totally ruined at least.
“We’ll just pay for what you dusted by the way, Tenko. I’m sorry you got caught, honestly.” Touya says after a good minute of silence and waiting, and when Tenko lets out a laugh it makes Keigo and Touya both look at the boy with raised eyebrows.
“Nah, it’s fine. God. I’m just. Wow. Keigo you really punched him, huh? Thanks. I’m never letting you live that down.” Tenko laughs out, and wraps an arm around Keigo’s back. “Thanks for that. Thank you both.”
“Yeah.. Any time, Tenko.” Touya smiles with just a tiny bit of confusion, while Tenko seemed… Okay, he doesn’t think he was totally alright.
“I’d punch him again.” Keigo deadpans.
“He’s also still on the ground staring up at us though.” Touya comments and the trio looks to the kid who’s still processing what the fuck just happened.
“I think he knows he’s fucked up.” Keigo hums and-
“No cookies tonight!” Izuku calls out with a giggle, making the trio immediately soften and turn their gaze to Izuku who’s in Hizashi’s arms. The man had just walked in, and while he looked amused he also looks like he’s just about had it with recent events- including this one just now.
Oooo Hizashi was so going to go off on someone- that’s exciting.
“Well, Izuku’s right. I’m guessing the curse jar is gonna be filled too, hm?” Hizashi smirks, but then looks down to the kid on the floor. “...Ah. While I’m sure that bloody nose was deserved- Keigo, that’s your allowance for a month.”
Keigo curses under his breath,
“And you have to buy your Dad another cat mug.”
Eh. That’s fine. Keigo thinks, resisting letting out a laugh.
Hizashi gets a police officer to come down and take the kid to Tsukauchi, then they finish up their mall shopping and get back home.
They don’t push Tenko on talking about what happened with his family, they just play games and watch a movie together. It makes the boy feel… Warm. And happy he doesn’t have to talk about it.
They’re at the end of the day when Aizawa walks through the door with Kurogiri looking like how he did before he.. Was Kurogiri- except… It was like he was both Aizawa’s Dead friend and Kurogiri at once.
His hair was purple and flowy- but his face was…
Wait, but…
“Oh my god..” Hizashi cups his hands over his mouth, taking in the presence of him and- “Oboro?”
Aizawa’s expression is so soft as he nods, looking to Kurogiri- Oboro- then back to Hizashi with this little smile.
“I…” Kurogiri- Agh- Oboro, looks at Hizashi, then to Aizawa, then to Tenko who is staring and the boys next to him. “I.. Don’t remember everything. But I certainly remember… You both.” He laughs, eyes ever so fond for Hizashi and Shouta- and voice clearly heavy with emotion. “And.. That’s… All I need, I think. For now.”
Tenko can’t really resist himself any longer and runs into Oboro’s arms, the man immediately hugging him tightly and letting out a wet laugh. “And you, god of course you too, Tenko.” He chuckles, running his hand through the boy’s hair.
When hugs are all exchanged, Oboro takes one look at the kids in the house and goes, “Wow. We’re parents at a young age, huh?” He turns to Aizawa, “See! I told you that you’d be good with kids!”
The tired man has to resist crying at that statement, instead just snorting and shaking his head. “You were always better with them.”
“Nah, that’s definitely Hizashi. He a hundred percent earns the title of ‘Papa’.” Oboro laughs out, looking to Hizashi who’s shaking his head. “No? You don’t agree?”
“You should see Shouta with Keigo and Izuku, believe me, he makes a pretty great Dad. Hard competition here.” Hizashi smirks while Aizawa hides his face in his scarf and huffs.
Izuku giggles and makes the three adults look over to him, Oboro almost instantly coos. “Oh my god he’s precious.”
The eight year old immediately flushes red and hides behind Keigo who lets out a snort.
“That’s the baby of the house,” Tenko deadpans from where he’s in Oboro’s arms, making Touya snicker and Izuku kick him in the legs. Keigo is smart and says nothing.
The rest of the night is spent together as a family, and catching up on lost time with a long lost friend.
When weeks pass and they adjust to having Oboro back- the man applies to be a teacher alongside Hizashi and Shouta at UA. Which also reunites the man with Nemuri who is ecstatic to have the fourth member of their group back and kickin’. All of the staff members at UA are delighted to meet Oboro- and some even remember him from when he was a student, so to say they’re shocked is.. An understatement.
The summary is- is that tears are shed.
Keigo and Touya tease Tenko about him now having his own Dad as a teacher too, which makes the boy huff- but then brag later about how cool his Dad is when they end up in a training simulator using his teleportation.
To say that things are so much better than they were before would be… Well, another understatement. Getting Tenko as their friend and Oboro as a third family member… It was nice. And something Keigo didn’t think he needed- seeing as he already had the perfect little family before but… More.. More was nice. It was good.
He’s glad he met Tenko.
He’s glad he met Touya.
He’s glad he met his parents- Shouta and Hizashi.
He’s so glad he met Izuku.
God he’s so glad he met Izuku.
Keigo glances over to where Izuku is on the couch, writing in his notebook and very focused. The hawk smiles fondly, standing up and strolling on over. He wraps his arms around Izuku’s back, surprising the boy and making him look up at his brother. “Watcha writing, lil bird?”
Izuku pouts lightly, and looks back down to his notebook. “Just um.. Something… Something for you…”
“For me?” Keigo questions, genuinely surprised. “Is it another lil quirk analysis?”
“N-No… Um…” Izuku stutters, embarrassed.
“I’m not gonna get to see it right now, am I?”
The eight year old giggles at that, shaking his head. “N-No.”
“Mhmm.. Fiiiiine.” Keigo whines dramatically, “Anyways, do you wanna ask Dad n’ Pops if you can invite Shouto and Hitoshi over tonight?”
Izuku just smiles at his brother real wide, and it makes the hawk oh so happy to see his hatchling happy.
And later, when Izuku comes into his room and hands him his letter before running off- he feels like his heart is going to explode out of his chest.
Kei,
I just wanted to tell you how much you mean to me.
Ever since you found me when I was hurt, I knew I could rely on you and trust you. You’re my everything, you’re my big brother. You mean so much to me. I love you so very much.
I just can’t really put words into how much I appreciate you and love you because there’d be too many words and it’d be too much. I dunno.
There’s so much that’s happened to both of us, to our friends and to our family. And its been really hard. But every step of the way you’ve been there for me and you’ve never left. Dad and Papa never left. Touya never left. Hitoshi and Shouto are still here too! And even Tenko isn’t leaving!
I hope you know how much that means to me because it really means a lot. Alot. like. Alot. i dont know how else to express it. Im just so grateful. Thank you. For never leaving.
Thank you for being my big brother. I love you.
~Izuku, (your hatchling :) )
Keigo lets out a wet laugh, wiping a few stray tears away from his face.
Silly little hatchling. As if Keigo would ever leave him.
A flock sticks together, after all.
