And then, years later, the Avatar emerges from the iceberg.
And then Aang decides that he wants Zuko, the first good firebender he’s met this century, to be his firebending teacher - even though Zuko wants nothing to do with him.

Summary
Ask a firebender. Ask them how they fell in love with their partner. If you're lucky, they will tell you to mind your own business. At worst, make sure you have plenty of water nearby.
The blessed of Agni were prone to passion, struggle, and life. They were also prone to violence and barbarism, anger and violence.
Few managed to find a balance. A good portion succumbed to the darker impulses, leading them to rejoice and thrive in warfare.
However, they all shared a common trait inherited from their divine protector: they were drawn to strength.
So if you want to seduce a firebender, beat their asses.
( This is exactly what Shiro and his friends had done without even knowing it.)

Summary
When Azula is nine, she becomes an only child. She hears the Fire Lord call for Zuko's life, and in the morning, her mother and brother are gone. Azula may be young, but she isn't naive. She knows what happened to them.
Which makes it all the more surprising when Azula tracks the Avatar down and fights his group of peasant friends, only to find herself staring into an eerily familiar face.

Summary
Katara steals four more lessons that week. Four more boys around her age who know the forms but don’t know the desperation of a true fight. They are bad at anticipating her movements and her decisions because Katara will never have the luxury of learning the way they did. She fights dirty, not fair, and their pride doesn’t let them understand that they’re in over their heads until it’s too late.
They leave her scrapes and bruises and cuts that fuel her healing sessions. When those are done, she goes back to their suite and resumes putting together a combat bending style from stolen pieces and her experience in the wider world.
