He made no move to wipe them away. Didn't even try to smile.
Raphael didn't know if that was concerning or an improvement.
"Oh... h-hi, bro." Only then did he show the smallest smile. "Sorry... did I wake you up?"
"...No, I got thirsty." The snapper lied, making his way to the younger, and sat beside him.
"..." Mikey looked away, smile falling. He sniffled.
"...Do you want to talk about it?"
"..." Mikey hiccuped softly, refusing to meet his gaze. "I... it's not... I just..." he trailed off, not knowing how to explain it. So instead, head hanging low in defeat, he held out his left arm.
It was shaking like crazy.

Summary
Mikey was known to retreat into his shell when stressed or scared. It was a daily occurrence, and his brothers had gotten used to carrying him home after a particularly tough fight or moving him to his bed after he'd scared himself into his shell while watching a scary movie.
They always knew he would be back out of the shell with his happy-go-lucky attitude in no time, so they never worried.
But this time was different. Mikey wasn't coming out of his shell.

ROTTMNT MOVIE SPOILERS
Mikey's portal save during the ROTTMNT movie was pretty miraculous, if you ask me. I'm thrilled about it because my boy Leo survived.
But...
We know how destructive Mikey's portal's can be to him. What if the scene had played out a little less in his favor? What if his brothers caught on to the damage he was causing himself?
