Oh ok anyways great games interesting twists locations are used that wasn't visited in the first two games don't exactly want to spoil it but there are twists surrounding crow and millium
I know about what happens with those two, make no mistake. I have definite plans regarding Crow (remember the "massive AU" part) and am looking for workarounds with Millium. I've certainly got time, inasmuch as the story hasn't even reached the halfway mark for the first game.
I understand. Even now I'm still working a lot out; for example, it wasn't until I'd written a couple of chapters that I realized Jusis Albarea is one of my favorites.
Oh no I can't wait to see how u handle 3 and 4 You know when I aged 3 and 4 I visited towns that was visited by group b in 1 and 2 like parm and a few others
From a strictly out of universe standpoint, there are two main issues. First, the sheer number of characters would swiftly become unmanageable (thus reducing the role of the new class is but the first step in paring things down). Second, I would never finish it because I wouldn't enjoy writing it; after seeing II's needlessly bittersweet ending (frankly I call BS on the very existence of the accelerated curriculum, given the nature of Thors in general and Class VII in particular), I'd been looking forward to more adventures for Rean and his friends, only to be hit by what amounts to a bait-and-switch.
In-universe, there are two more significant issues. One, Rean's story and development are inextricably bound to the original Class VII; in effect, his story and theirs are one and the same. As such, reducing their role can only be detrimental. Two, when endgame enemies from II are appearing early on (including McBurn), and Rean is considering using Spirit Unification in an early encounter before Laura appears to take care of business, for the new class to be portrayed as anything other than a hindrance, operationally speaking, until very late strains my suspension of disbelief well past the breaking point.
Anyway. Apologies if that comes across as a rant; I simply wanted to make sure my reasoning was clear.
It's not that I don't plan to use them at all, only that they won't be part of the main cast. One thing I forgot to mention, the above criticisms do not in the main apply to Altina, an already-extant character with a legitimate role to play.
More generally, I have two possible scenarios; which one I use will depend on how my version of II plays out. One would be relatively close to canon, with the rest of the original Class VII (possibly excluding Millium) brought in as a kind of special training cadre, taking advantage of their experience in the recent civil war. (With a different principal; I have issues, to put it mildly, with Aurelia Le Guin.)
Second would require fudging the timeline, but there are going to be so many changes that it's kind of a given. It would have the new class starting at the main branch while the originals are in their second year.
I would go with the second option and bring in the new class 7 from 3 and 4 as first yrs while the original class 7 is in their second yr have Elise transfer make it so her and altina are a part of class 7 and have big roles
In the mean time juna Kurt musse and ash can still be used but have minor roles and they also be first yrs
3 and they made George a villian that sucked I prefer it where he's on staff at thors to handle maintenance
Also an addtion use elements from 3 and 4 like locations to travel. Basically use locations that wasn't visited in one and two like parm ordis
A friend and fellow Trails fan advised much the same thing, on the grounds that it's more fresh. Way ahead of you on Elise; we know from the start of the second game that she's ARCUS compatible, and the fact that Rean lets her come along for the Reverie Corridor is proof enough that she's good in a fight.
I agree completely regarding George, and have already thought of an alternate path for him. In essence, while he eventually remembers being "Copper Georg," that persona is buried so deep in his psyche that he never really becomes him again.
Already intended to use locales from III and IV, given that the field studies in question would still take place in either plotline. On a related note, I've a couple of important changes that do focus on the new class. First is I would try to follow up on the ship tease Juna and Kurt get in III; making her (and Musse) a possible love interest for Rean was idiotic in the extreme. The other is Juna gets over her resentment of Rean implausibly quickly, so I would stretch that out a bit more.
For some amusement, I had the idea of Rean succeeding Towa as Studen Council president. Kind of a learning experience, given that one way or another he's going to have to deal with plenty of administrative stuff later on.
The matter of George is part of a larger effort on my part. IMO the second half of the Erebonia arc got a little too dark, so I'm trying to ease that a little. Ironically, I find the second game isn't dark enough; seriously, a bloody civil war, and all of two named characters buy it, one of them temporarily? Strains credulity just a bit.
Tita, I suppose Alisa might make a good mentor figure.
I know right but still but that's what I think all the class 8 and 9 students should be first yrs at thors
For the new class 7 Juna Kurt ash musse tita cedric(yes that cedric the prince) altina Elise Ada and fritz(actual characters in 3 and 4 look em up they were in 3 and 4 part of cedrics group at the main branch) Altina. Tita can be George's apprentice.
We shall have to see what happens. Aside from basics like the original Class VII staying as the primary cast, much of this is speculative for obvious reasons.
Ah, Cedric Reise Arnor. I know something of what he's like in the later games. Makes Rean and Crow's efforts in the Infernal Castle seem like a waste.
I should probably mention I do not object to new blood per se; necessary to keep the story fresh if nothing else. My objection is it is done at the expense of the original Class VII, especially in III, which is to the detriment of both the overall narrative and Rean's personal development.
I'm going to get started within the next couple of days, barring external complications. As to when it will be finished, I can't venture to guess, though I do hope to take less than three months this time.
Can't wait to write more, especially when Laura reenters the story. Considering that relationship is one of the main reasons I started this story (my original plan was a postwar one-shot, until I decided a full novelization was the only way to do it justice), that's kinda important.
That's unlikely to happen anytime soon for a variety of reasons. As I mentioned earlier, I've had significant financial issues for pretty much my entire life; even the PS3 was acquired secondhand not long before the PS5 was announced.
I don't feel bad at all. To be honest, with each generation there seem to be fewer games I care about. For the record, my very first was the original Super Mario Brothers on Christmas 1987.
Oh, been meaning to ask, what made you pick Alisa for Rean's girl? Not criticizing by any means, eye of the beholder and all that, but I am curious.
For me, it needs more than that. I was convinced Laura was the best as early as Celdic, when she asked Rean if he liked the path of the sword (thus the title of this story).
Well, so you're a bit older than I am. I was five when I got my first NES.
I've no objection to her becoming an ally. My problem here is way too many cases of either outright unwinnable boss fights or fights you think you've won only for it to turn out to be a failure after all. I cite Rufus in the notes for the first chapter, another example is Crow in the Heimdallr catacombs. I do not buy him being able to solo Rean, Laura, and Fie simultaneously, especially since he does clearly lose a mere two months later.
Now, there are a couple I don't mind. McBurn, for example, at least in his debut, seeing as the guy's outright haxx. Then there's the impromptu boss fight against Sara when Jusis and Machias are being idiots, and of course Rean's duel with Viscount Arseid.
Elliot and Fie just seem to click for me. I'm well aware of Millium's attachment to Jusis; trouble is she's a perpetual loli, which makes it just a little too creepy.
