Summary
Severus Snape's list of dislikes could circle the globe easily three times over, and at the very top of that list were rusted cauldrons and Sirius Black. Gilderoy Lockhart couldn't say he had ever spared a thought for the notorious criminal aside from perhaps a sigh of pity at the waste of a perfectly good face. Not as good as his dear potion master's, but quite good none the less.
Personal grudges or lack thereof aside, how hard could it be to catch a madman on the loose in a boarding school full of rule breaking children with invisibility cloaks? And a wereworlf. Apparently there was one of those this year too.

Summary
The castle glimmers with fairy lights and frost tipped wreaths. What should be a wonderful evening spent by the fire with a book and cozy slippers is ruined by the fact that this year's Christmas Ball is a compulsory event thanks to the arrival of guests from Beaubaton and Durmstrang.
Severus is grumpy, but Gilderoy would argue that sour look on his face makes him look all the more dashing in those formal robes. Too bad he cant properly enjoy the view. While Severus was an eye on the overly handsy youths, he had caught on to more than a few troubling rumors. There are whispers in the wind about ominous marks and malicious plots. The night is young, and there's plenty of time yet to search for secrets in the dark.
