Summary
It was easy. Too easy, really, for Jiang Cheng's blade to find its home below Wei Wuxian's twelfth rib. Wei Wuxian gives as good as he gets—as he should for this kind of performance—but he slips up: let a strike through. He coughs into his hand and it comes away covered in blood. He wipes it on his robes. It's easy, after all, to hide bloodstains in black fabric.
Or: Wei Wuxian dies from a wound that Jiang Cheng inflicted during their staged fight.

Summary
“Th-this is Wei-gongzi’s son,” the Ghost General stutters out.
Lan Wangji looks towards Wen Qionglin, waiting for the answer as well. The corpse falls silent, and the lack of answer alone instills an anxious worry inside Lan Wangji’s chest.
“Where is Wei Ying?” Lan Wangji repeats the question slowly and is completely unprepared for the horrible grief that contorts Wen Qionglin’s face for a brief moment before it smooths back into a smile that doesn’t reach his eyes.
Or: Lan Wangji encounters a boy and a corpse in a marketplace.
