Obi-Wan remembered when he first met Anakin that fateful day on Tatooine, when Qui-Gon had introduced them. Obi-Wan had held out his hand for Anakin to shake and he had taken it, and they had both stared in wonder as the places where their skin had touched turned a brilliant blue.
It was not the color of the soulmark that was strange, rather, it was the intensity. Many people would leave effects on a person, some deep enough that they would stay with them for decades, perhaps through the rest of their life. The colored marks that appear on one’s body could be from a sibling, friend, enemy, lover, or even a stranger in the right place at the right time. Oftentimes though, the vibrancy of these marks depended on how much one would affect their life.
Obi-Wan had never seen such a bright color, on himself or on anyone else.

“Senator Skywalker,” Obi-Wan greeted as he entered the man’s apartment. Obi-Wan glanced around to see that they were alone as he walked over to where Anakin was sitting, elbows deep in some droid. His apartment looked the same as it always did, pieces of machinery scattered about on the floor and most other flat surfaces. The wide windows across the room let him peer out to Coruscant, and even though the sun was setting, life was as busy as ever.
“Master Kenobi,” Anakin said, not looking up from his droid. “Which threat was it this time?”
“I’m sure I don’t know what you mean, Senator,” Obi-Wan said blandly, and Anakin snorted. “My presence here had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that you’ve received fifty-four death threats in the last ten-day after calling Senator Writh a cock-eyed half-wit whose only use in the senate is as a warm body.”
“Only fifty-four?” Anakin asked, and of course that was what he focused on. “And I believe you missed quite a few swears in there as well. I was rather fond of ‘your asshole is in the wrong place, you’re not supposed to spew bullshit as you speak’ myself.”
