He was so tired of pretending to be strong and tough and big when he felt so helpless and small. The pressure of not disappointing everyone, of making a good impression for his mother each time he saw her, the painful reminder of his broken family each time he emerged from the Styx. Each run could be more painful than the last, the constant failed attempts weighing him down. He just needed to let it all go, to get everything out and be comforted by his caregivers.
