Summary
Melkor uses the side of one of his nails to scrape some of the thick, sap-like substance away from the elf’s face. The skin underneath the black has been stained slightly grey, and he watches in fascination as the skin quickly bubbles in large blisters the moment it is exposed to the air. The elf draws in a deep, shaking breath, but when its eyes meet Melkor’s it seems to resist the urge to make a noise.
—
Melkor dabbles in a new form of torture and accidentally makes an orc.

Summary
“Fetch me another.”
Mairon’s gaze flickers briefly from Melkor’s twisted, rolling form to the stone slab he hunches over like a shade. The body of some nameless elf lies there, mangled and broken. Its pale skin is mottled with bruises and blisters, marred with hundreds of cuts, and obviously long-cold from death. It is merely one of thousands who have died here, upon the table, at Melkor’s hands.
Thousands more will eventually follow. None who enter these halls will escape unmarred.
“There are no others.”
—
In the deepest pits of Utumno, Melkor continues his work. But when he runs out of elves to experiment upon, his gaze turns to another to torment.

Summary
“He would not torment you so if you did not look so… vulnerable," Gothmog at last rumbles.
Soft words of reassurance would do nothing to prevent this from happening again, as it has happened before.
Something had to change.
Someone must change.
They both know Melkor would not.
—
Gothmog descends into the pits of Utumno to give his report to Mairon. What he finds in Mairon's office is both unfortunate and unfortunately very commonplace within these halls. Frankly, he doesn't understand why Mairon refuses to do anything about it.

Summary
They may look like orcs, but they do not walk like them.
They may look like orcs, but they do not talk like them.
They may look like orcs, but they certainly do not smell like them.
“So,” Mairon starts slowly, breaching the long silence he’s maintained until this point, not bothering to glance upwards yet. “Do you know what it is that you have done wrong?”
—
Mairon is so frustrated by the blatant rule-breaking of Melkor’s army that at this point, he’s willing to forgive the fact the orcs standing before him are obviously not orcs at all as long as they actually make a report.Series

Summary
Mairon does like Celebrimbor. Truly. He would stay in Ost-in-Edhil with him forever, if he could.
...So then why does he make the One?

This is a fic to accompany the animated storyboard I made for the song Never Enough. Each chapter follows a part of the song and a part of the animatic.

Summary
“I thought we were friends,” Celebrimbor rasps. Even with the truth before him it is hard to reconcile memories of the past with this moment of the present. Over these last two years of siege he had never truly allowed himself to think of what the war meant. Amongst the fighting and the desperation to simply survive, he had pushed all thoughts of why they were fighting from his mind. But now here he is, faced with the reason for his people’s suffering and all he wants to do is sob.
A treacherous, treasonous part of him still desires to reach out and wrap himself in that familiar embrace once more.

Celebrimbor grapples with his feelings during the fall of Ost-in-Edhil.

Summary
Mairon glances back to Angmar once more only briefly before his gaze once more finds the corpse sprawled out upon his desk like a broken toy. He stares at it for several moments longer until at last he decides that there really is only one response he can have to this sort of surprise:
“Why?”
—
Based on my tumblr post where Angmar comes back from war dragging dead bodies behind him with all the smug pride of a cat dumping a mouse on its owner’s pillow. Mairon is rightfully disgusted.

Summary
“Though a military campaign may have taken you even less time,” Khamul muses when Angmar does not respond, resting the side of his cheek on his hand in thought. “I just cannot imagine what could have possibly kept your attention for four-“ There is a motion in the corner of his eye that distracts him, and the rest of his sentence is lost as his gaze drops.
Two eyes stare back at him from around Angmar’s mid-thigh.
“-years?” Khamul finishes hesitantly, voice inflecting upwards in question, brain struggling to catch up with what he is looking at.
—
After a long four years in Harad, Angmar returns to Mordor. Khamul is shocked when he does not return alone.

Summary
Angmar is easily the largest of the Nazgul, easily the tallest of the Nazgul, easily the strongest of the Nazgul, easily the most adept at magic amongst their number.
Indur is easily the smallest of the Nazgul, easily the shortest of the Nazgul, easily the weakest of their number. He is the youngest-will forever be the youngest-and it is in moments like these, trying to fall asleep in a room by himself, that he feels far younger than his years.

Summary
"You are holding it wrong.”
There’s a look that crosses Angmar’s face, like he’s debating reaching over the table to strike him. It’s the same look that reminds Khamul why he had elected to sit across from Angmar rather than next to him. Sitting across from him makes it useless to actually read what he is writing, but very useful for making sure Angmar doesn’t elbow his stomach whenever he speaks.
--
Angmar's penmanship is atrocious. Khamul gets roped into helping him improve.

A deep, harmonious rumbling fills the air.
The hair on the back of Khamul’s neck stands on end.
Angmar always was one of the best at magic amongst them.

A humorous exchange between Khamul and Indur based on that conversation in Chapter 16/17 of Tides of War, which in turn is based on that scene in Return of the King film where the Witch King sets his sword on fire like the bad bitch he is.Series

“If you cannot bring back Khamul, do be sure you at least bring back the ring.”

When Khamul vanishes, it is up to Angmar to track him down and rescue him. Of course he still hates him what are you talking about. No they aren't friends. No they aren't going to come out of this with a new understanding of each other and their relationship will never be the same again.

Summary
“You have been avoiding me, Khamul,” Angmar growls. His hand is still upon the door that he has thrown open, except the door to Khamul’s quarters remains closed and locked.
Angmar has burst forth from the closet.
“…How long have you been in there for?” Khamul asks, ignoring Angmar’s accusation entirely.
—
Khamul has held onto a secret ever since his disastrous mission in the East and subsequent rescue by Angmar. He just really wasn't expecting anyone to confront him about it. He REALLY wasn't expecting Angmar to be the one to do it.
Technically a sequel to Across the Sands of the East, but it's not required reading.

Summary
Khamul has a few unspoken rules when it comes to this type of thing. Rules 1-10 aren't really important here, but rule 11 is find a damn bedroom. Mostly because Khamul actually has standards, but also because he and Angmar hate each other. That much has not changed, which means it's awfully hard to explain if someone walks in on them kissing.
...When someone walks in on them, since Angmar apparently can't tell a bedroom from a library.
