Summary
With only the face cards remaining, Chishiya and Niragi navigate what their arrangement looks like outside the relative safety of the Beach. They find themselves falling dangerously close to the most real thing they've ever experienced.
Meanwhile the others think that Chishiya has actually lost his mind at his insistence on keeping Niragi around. He can't exactly explain the true nature of their relationship, and his evasiveness breeds distrust.

Summary
Niragi sighed as he watched his phone ring and ring and ring. He figured if he let it go to voicemail on its own time, he could pretend that he was away from his phone and didn’t notice the call coming in.
“Why are you ignoring your mother?” Chishiya asked. Of course that bastard had noticed.
“I’m not ignoring her,” he pouted. With the way Chishiya was lounging against his chest he couldn’t see his face, but he just knew one of his eyebrows had quirked up in his patented look of disbelief. He sighed. There was no hiding anything from him. “It’s my dad’s birthday next week and she’s probably calling to ask if I’m coming to family dinner.”
“Are you?”
“Not if I can avoid it,” Niragi grumbled. “It’ll be a bunch of bullshit about how I’m unmarried in my thirties and it’s all my fault. They’ll list out all the fucked-up decisions I’ve made in my life that have ruined all my chances of being happy and successful or whatever and I really don’t need to hear that shit.”
The phone rang again.
He was ready to throw the stupid thing across the room but Chishiya was faster. He plucked the phone out of Niragi’s hands and accepted the call in one smooth motion.

Summary
“I want you to punish me,” Chishiya said and that must have been the magic word because Niragi’s expression shifted. He suddenly looked intrigued. He tilted his head and appraised Chishiya carefully.
“What would I punish you for?”
“For skipping dinner? For being rude? For yelling at you when you were trying to be nice?” Chishiya couldn’t keep the frustration out of his voice. “Take your pick.”
Niragi pushed himself off the counter and stepped closer to Chishiya until he was close enough for the details of his piercings to be clearly visible. He gripped Chishiya’s chin tightly and tilted his head up so he had no choice but to meet his gaze.
“I don’t think it’s any of that,” he said slowly. “I think you’ve done something else. Something bigger.”
Chishiya felt a shiver run down his spine. “Punish me,” he whispered.
