Lily tightened her hold on little Harry, wrapped snugly in his favourite blanket and carried in the crook of her arm. She looked the old washerwoman in the eye and bared her teeth in some semblance of a smile.
Unbeknownst to many, the Potters have an old relationship with some unlikely Folk of Godric's Hollow, specifically the Good Neighbours from the woods beyond the little village. One day in October, as Samhain and their impending death approached, Lily Potter went to the Neighbours to seek protection for Harry, and the course of history is changed.

Summary
There is a grey and empty Hogwarts. It is cold, quiet and strange. In it, a boy wanders aimlessly like a dreamer, thoughts slow and memories just out of reach… Until one day, a flower grows from the crack in a wall, blooming in shades of white, black and red.
At the start of his Second Year at Hogwarts, when Harry is given a curiosity — an enchanted diary, his interest is piqued. It’s not too long later that he begins filling the diary with things that would not magically disappear or get absorbed by the pages — chalk-and-charcoal botanical drawings and pressed flowers... Then, one day, he suddenly recalls something the twins told him several months ago, something he somehow forgot — the diary is a diary that writes back.
