Summary
Spencer can’t do this alone. He knows that Dilaudid is ruining him, but every time he tries to stop, the sleepless nights, tightness under his skin, and terrifying mood swings have him crawling back into the arms of liquid oblivion once more.

Summary
Spencer was groomed for the BAU. It was his ticket to a better life, a life that more easily afforded his mother the care she needed than illegal gambling ever could, so he never even thought twice about taking Gideon’s offer. Why would he? They waived all the physical stuff, so all he really needed to do was bring his brain and apply himself. Spencer has always been good at that.
But after Tobias Hankel, he starts wondering if he can hold up to the reality of this job. He wants to. He wants to help people more than anything else in the world, but his faith has been shaken, both in his team and in himself.
He needs time to find himself, and Elle offers it to him before he can even think to ask her to. The contrast between her and the team that ignored him when he all but begged for help is so stark that it’s staggering.
