Summary
This is a backstory / coming of age fic that details life changing events in the lives of Maria Hill and Natasha Romanoff at various ages starting at 17-18.
Backstories covered: (1) Natasha's graduation from the Red Room / Maria confronts her abusive father; (2) How Maria met Fury and is recruited into SHIELD; (3) Natasha defects to SHIELD
I also really wanted to write more Maria and Tony Stark and more Blackhill content so I have also added a Maria's first day at Stark Industries blackhill teaser story to open it and some time at Stark Industries may pop up throughout to break up the rather sad backstories of these two phenomenal women.

Summary
**This is a sequel to A Shot in the Dark. Please read that work before you read this one because there are characters and storylines that carry through!!**
In the aftermath of Maria and Tony's return from their capture, the two of them struggle to put everything together and figure out who they can trust. Tony and Maria stonewall the FBI for as long as possible but their time is running out. Tony finds reverse engineering Carver's armor disabling technology a frustrating challenge. Maria's paranoia is high as she's stalked by one of her escaped captors and she becomes conflicted by a balancing act between her loyalty to Fury and Stark.
