But it wasn’t the fear of losing you what compelled Din to tell you that he had feelings for you. It felt natural, after all the memories you’d created together. Trust had developed gradually, with every personal detail about your lives you’d shared, with every leap of faith, with the mutual respect of boundaries.
Caring for the child had also strengthened your bond. Din and you felt the instinct to protect the child and create an environment where he was warm and well-fed and mentally challenged. Both of you wanted to make sure that he knew he was loved.
And the child loved both of you. To the moon and back.
