One bloodshot eye cracked open like dried, unfired clay. From the mattress on the floor, he could see a hint of moon through the mess of his bent up shades. Over halfway across the sky. After 2am, at least.
"Whadd'you want, Zashi?" Aizawa rumbled thickly, eyes falling shut. "It's late. Already said I'm sleeping.”
"You wanna fuck?" Blunt. Offered so quick it could be an icicle snapping off a rooftop.
Aizawa appreciated the expediency of it, not having to wait five minutes just for Hizashi to get to the damn point, but it didn't endear him enough to give anything but a grunt of irritation.
"I gotta work tomorrow. M'tired, Zashi. Don't have the energy for you to take your frustration out on my ass all night and still function in the morning."
A final plea. "Please, baby? I'll do all the work. I promise you won't even know I'm there."
The sigh that left him was even more tired than Shouta himself.
"Come over."

Summary
Hizashi was rarely normal about anything.
Life is performance and every situation is a stage waiting to be utilized. He said those words once, some years past when he was wholly and completely Present Mic; piss drunk and rolling on molly with smears of glitter on his face and a smile too wide to be comfortable. Aizawa remembers it because it was true. Hizashi often relished the opportunity to showcase any emotion he had in the most dramatic way possible. Good, bad, didn't matter. He was theatrics incarnate. A showman, through and through.
So to see him standing there, neutral, when he should have been in South Korea with his Flavor of the Month for the next three weeks?
On edge was a gross undersell of how Shouta felt.

Summary
Hizashi wasn't sure he even needed a full hand to count the number of times over the years Shouta couldn't get it up in the sleep department. That just... Wasn't really a thing. Not having time to sleep? Sure! Shouta was a busy guy. Not like him, certainly, but still in demand! Very much a hot ticket item in the hero market for services rendered and more on the docket. But on his off time? Shouta was a lean mean snoozin' machine. A sleepier kitty than a sleepy kitty. People with Narcolepsy wished they could crash out as quick and easy as Shouta. It— The point was, Hizashi corrected, knocking himself out of the sleep deprived stimulant spiral he accidentally tripped into, that Shouta could sleep with the best of 'em (Hizashi would know) and that him not being able to sleep was rarer than an eclipse during a blue moon.

That was a different story. A very different story. So much of a different story that Aizawa was dressed with boots on the ground and out his front door before he bothered texting back. Walking at a swift pace towards the nearest train station.

"That's YOU!!" He screeched.
Shouta lifted his arm from his face, blinking slowly at the introduction of light and looking, for all intents and fucking purposes, like Hizashi's words were news to him.
"Oh right. Yeah, that's me. I snore." He re-covered his eyes. "And Hizashi snores but pretends he doesn't.”
Hizashi seethed.

"Man, the older I get, the more aware I am that copping a squat in a graveyard to eat and have drinks is a total faux pas." Hizashi laughed and both Aizawa's eyebrows rose.
It seemed unfathomable that Hizashi would be the one bothered by what other people might say about their little ritual. Which Aizawa voiced as he set down the cooler. "Never thought I'd see the day you gave a shit."
"Ha! Probably because it's slim to none of ever happening. I'm just sayin', yknow?" Hizashi's long limbs folded easily as he sat, like a crane settling in for dusk. "It's not like we get trashed and cause a scene but soju and food in front of a family grave? In a place this old? Yeah, many an obāsan would have some words and a firm house slipper to say about it."
Aizawa couldn't deny that.
Hizashi laughed again and waved it off without care. "Whatever though, right? It's been five years already. We just gotta cross our fingers and hope Oboro's ancestors are as cool as him because otherwise this is probably super bad luck or some shit."

Twin splashes broke through the stark, ringing silence that followed and Aizawa felt the water ripple against his body.
"Uhhhhhh, well shit. Okay." Hizashi laughed quietly. "Yeah. Yeah. I like fucking men. A lot."
"Mmm... Why?"
A sputter of sound not unlike an engine failing to turn over. “Is my queer sex life really what you're trying to hear from me right now, Shouta?"
It was.
It wasn't.
Aizawa found he didn't care about the answer as much as the way he felt hearing Hizashi say his first name. It was as much of an answer as it was the most damning piece of evidence so far.

Hizashi pulled it over for a glance and the words that came out of his mouth were the first ones that crossed his mind.
"Holy shit."
Aphrodisiac quirks. Multiple aphrodisiac quirks. A cloning quirk. A shape shifting quirk. Extreme sensitivity quirk. Body alterations, sensory deprivation, loss of inhibitions, temporary animal transformation. Hizashi flipped to the back with eyes bugging out of his skull at the offer of more extreme entrées.
The glass was at his lips before he thought to lift it, smooth whiskey burning its way down and spreading out into a pleasant heat that only added to what was already there.
"Happy birthday, Hizashi."

The healed up scar tissue beneath his finger proved exactly that but Hizashi thought they'd need to agree to disagree.
Shouta wasn't okay. Not really. He was healed. As recovered as he was likely ever going to get, all things considered, but Hizashi had it on good authority that he wasn't actually okay. Or maybe he was. Okay was basically just mediocre, wasn't it? Not good, not great, just okay? So maybe Shouta was that. Alive but definitely not back to normal. Not After.
