Summary
“Why do you have so much yarn?” His bushy brows furrowed when he peered down into his box, now a quarter empty of fine yarn bundles and two coarse bundles.
“Did you steal them?”
That accusation had surprised him.
“No?” He looked down at the yarn to check if he maybe had stolen them by accident; the gaunt elderly monk’s beady eyes making him feel terribly unsure. No, those were the ones his father had spun earlier that day.

Summary
“Tell me, and I will make them stop.” Kraisee had once gone as far as to murder someone who was relentlessly bullying and harassing his younger sister when they were still travelling and roaming the southern Fire Nation islands with their parents. One day, that person had just disappeared. Achara did not fear going to the markets anymore. She didn’t fear travelling alone anymore, but the habit of looking over her shoulder lingered still.
Kraisee couldn’t make that habit go away regardless of what he tried.

Summary
“Wait!” the all too familiar voice of Madame Hong shouted at the beginning of the alley behind her.
Palden froze. How- how did she-, she turned slowly, watching as Madame Hong took slow, deliberate steps toward her, chest stiff and with measured breaths. Something a woman of her status never did.
She’d discarded her heels to catch up to her. Some of her hair had come undone from the elaborate updo it had been in.
Madame Hong came to a stop in front of her, eyes narrowed as she looked at her. Palden could see all the questions she wanted to ask and how she tried to pick which to ask first.
Eventually, with fists tightened at her sides, she asked. “What type of nun are you, sister?”

Summary
"-And then this, for you to come to try to dictate what I can and cannot do, who I can and cannot love, when you’re the one who whored herself out-,” a sharp stinging pain hit the side of her face.
It took her a moment to register that Sister Tsewang had slapped her. Sharp enough to draw blood from her lip. She turned to look at her.
She was crying.
They both were.
Again, she was hit with this uncomfortable feeling, like she was looking at herself.
As… as if she was her mother.
