Summary
When she reached the bottom she yelled, “Thomas, stop!”
He paused on the landing but his recitation didn’t stop. Couldn’t. Impossible. Whenever he wasn’t pouring out odes of longing his heart was filling with them until they became a flood. The best he could do was skip to the poem’s end, re-announcing the thesis of his afterlife since the day she’d arrived, “I worship thee in love, my Alison!”
She turned, meeting his blunt fervor with half the syllables, half the decibels, and even blunter force, “No you don’t, Thomas.”
[After Episode 2 of Series 2 ("About Last Night") Alison finally loses her temper with Thomas, and they take a walk to try to figure out how to function as friends.]

Summary
“You know I met Byron?”
“Did you?”
“Is that funny?”
She dutifully flattened out her wide grin, “No, that’s not funny. Please go on.”
“I’d rather not talk about it, actually.”
“Clearly.”
He realised what she was doing in a red rush. Well then, fine, he thought. If she thought it was such a joke, fine. “The man ruined my grand tour of Europe, did you know that?”
“How could I?” she mocked innocence itself with her dovelike simper, “You never talk about it.”
He nodded. The bloody cheek. He’d show her. “I met him in Rome, if you must know. I was there for a week that May, and was happened-upon by him, actually, at Trevi Fountain.”
“Really?”
He raised his eyebrows and nodded curtly, hauling up both hands in exasperation as if tossing the man onto an imaginary screen across their path, “Big as life.”
Her look stayed sly, but there was real curiosity in her tone, “So… what happened?”---
Having finally come to terms with their friendship, Alison and Thomas talk to those they trust, and then take a walk to make a proper go of trusting one another. It goes... a little too well.

Summary
Robin looked Thomas up and down, squinting, “You really virgin?”
Thomas winced, “It’s…complicated.”
“What is comp’icated? Is yes, is no, is…” he shrugged, “that cover everything.”
“I don’t really want to talk about it, if it’s all right with you.”
“What is talk about? Is yes, is no-”
“No, then. No, I’m not," he straightened, flicking his cuffs.
Robin shook his head quizzically, “Then what get you mad that Julian say it if he just wrong?”
Thomas threw his head back and slouched, arms limp, supremely annoyed that Robin had a point, “Because it’s-”
“-comp’icated. Yeah, ok."Thomas and Alison try to manage their dismay by talking to anyone but each other.

Summary
Mike leaned close, clearly pleased to let the lid off something, “Well, I feel like, if we’re getting serious about helping our ghosts-”
Alison couldn’t help beaming at him. He really meant it, “Our ghosts?”
“He’s making a list!” The Captain whispered, matching Mike’s excitement and Alison’s adoration.
Mike grinned, “Well yeah. I mean, yeah they’re your inheritance, and your friends, and I can’t see them, but you’re my wife, so your ghosts are our ghosts. And if we’re getting serious about helping them with their problems, we ought to figure out what that really means. Thomas doesn’t have to be the only one.”
