Summary
“The vampire Armand,” Daniel said slowly, the headline writing itself in his mind, “in love with a mortal. Now that’s a story I’m interested in.”
The gaze that met his was no longer wounded, but predatory-cold. “You’re a vulture, aren’t you?” Armand said, the words soft as a blade being drawn from silk. “Picking at every scrap of exposed flesh.”
Daniel held the gaze, refusing to flinch. He’d been called worse. “It’s the job. You started talking out of your own free will. You don’t get to be offended when I look for the cracks in the narrative.”

After a brutal interview session leaves Daniel feeling flayed open, his most painful memory weaponized against him the moment he got a little too smart-mouthed, he has a bizarre conversation with the Vampire Armand about love, loss and nailclippers. His life couldn’t possibly get any weirder.Series

Summary
“Look at me, Daniel,” Armand whispered. His voice a thread of sound, pulling Daniel under. “You know me. From whatever little I left you with. You know the way I look when I lie, the little human tics I still carry, the compulsions I try to quiet but never can completely break off, the shape of all my flaws and idiosyncrasies. I see it in your every thought. You know me better in my absence than most ever do in my presence.” His voice softened, fraying at the edges. “Do you understand now?”
Daniel stared into those huge, tormented eyes, and felt the core of his life collapse.

Summary
“Months?” The word dropped like a stone in Daniel’s gut.
“Do you think it’s easy?” A flicker of that old frustration surfaced. “Creating an alternative timeline for someone’s life? It is not something you do on an impulse. And it never completely… fits.” He looked away, the muscle in his jaw ticking. “I had to use your drug addiction as an excuse, a blanket explanation for a lot of the defects and gaps I couldn’t make work.”
Oh, so it hadn’t been a crime of passion; it had been a creative project. “You spent months brainwashing me?!”

Summary
Daniel let out a humorless breath. “Can’t believe you fucking shoved me back into the closet,”
A flicker of genuine irritation crossed Armand’s face. “Hardly,” he said, his voice dropping back into its familiar, cool register. He placed the book he was holding on a table with a soft, definitive thud. “Given the sheer number of men I watched you take to cheap motel rooms and parked cars during your marriage, I would say your sexuality, Daniel, proved to be remarkably resilient. It found its way back to its true nature soon enough.”

In the aftermath of Daniel getting his memories back, he and Armand have 5 difficult conversations while Louis is away in a predictably convenient business meeting (thanks, Armand).Series

Summary
“You must think me an idiot,” Louis said, his voice quiet, almost conversational.
Louis took a step toward him. Then another. Daniel held his ground, his heart hammering, acutely aware in that moment that he was a mortal man standing between two vampires. And one of them was looking at him like he was about to break his diet.
“At the start I thought I must have been imagining it,” Louis continued, his gaze boring into Daniel’s. “The little stolen glances during the interview, the continuous bantering, the way he looked at you,” Louis murmured, almost to himself. “From the very first night. The way he looked at you. I told myself it was nothing. Curiosity. Amusement.” A bitter laugh escaped him.

It was not the first time Daniel destroyed a marriage, it wasn't even the first time that marriage wasn't his own. It was, however, the first time he’d done it with the full, complicit consent of the husband he was stealing. One way or another he's probably not making it out alive.Series

Summary
The servant beside him shifts, uncomfortable with the stillness, the silence. The sign—Mr. Molloy—dangles from his gloved hand, a beacon in the crowd. Armand doesn't acknowledge him. He is focused entirely on the sliding glass doors, on the stream of passengers emerging from baggage claims, on the moment when one of those faces will be his.
He's going to be here, Armand thinks, and the thought is a knife twisting in his chest. At any moment. Walking through those doors.
He has seen Daniel since their departure, of course, though less often in recent years. Or, maybe not less often, just less… up close. Always from a distance; through screens and photographs, from across the street or from a crowd. But not like this. Not close enough to touch, to smell, to look deeply into those beautiful crystal blue eyes.

Rashid!Armand goes to pick Daniel up from the airport. His beautiful boy might not remember him anymore, but that does not mean Armand's heart doesn't threaten to crack open at the sight of him.Series

Summary
"Hungry still?" Armand asked, his voice barely a whisper.
"Yes?" It came out as a question. Was he supposed to not be?
"You need to work on your bite," Armand said, matter-of-fact. "You gnaw on the artery; you lose half the blood. Clean puncture. Lips sealed around the wound. No tearing."
Daniel nodded, absorbing the instruction. Alright. He could do that. He thinks.
"Come."
Still confused, Daniel sat up, shifting closer to Armand. The hand on his jaw came up to rest on the back of his head, encouraging him forward as Armand tilted his head to expose his throat—an offering, an invitation.
Daniel's breath caught.
"Go slow. It’ll help with the hunger."
Fuck.

Summary
“Oh, beloved. Of course I would never deny you my blood.”
Daniel perked up immediately, sitting upright, his earlier dramatics forgotten and ready to sink his fangs in that neck.
“All you have to do is ask for it. Say, Armand, my beloved maker, I am very sorry I was a bad, impatient boy. I have been a terrible, needy little fledgling. I have sulked and snapped and tested every ounce of your patience, and I am so, so sorry.”
Daniel stared at him. "That’s a mouthful,”
Armand's smile didn't waver. "You have a good mouth."
Daniel felt a flush of heat rise to his cheeks.
~~~
Needless to say, Daniel had been ready to put up with the downsides of Vampirism from the start of his twenties. Eternal damnation? Sign him up. Never seeing the sun again? He'd always been more of a night owl anyway. The soul-crushing hunger for blood? He'd been a blood junkie before, nothing new there. Turns out immortality also came with a lot of small, baffling humiliations.Series
