Armand turns to look at him. He’s got that cute little frown line between his eyebrows, the one he gets when he’s so distracted trying to figure something out that he forgets to care about how his face looks.
“You are not taking this the way I anticipated.”

It isn’t until he picks it up and turns it over in his palm that he realizes what it is; a filigree pendant shaped like a heart, attached to a band of sleek black leather with a thick golden buckle — a collar.
“What the fuck?” Daniel murmurs to himself.
It is frankly one of the most ornate things he's ever had the displeasure of looking at.
And yet… There's something about it.
His fingers brush over the delicate engraving on the back of the pendant. Etched into the cold metal, in flowing script, is a single word — Beloved.
After a laundry mix up in Dubai, Daniel’s attention is drawn to “Rashid”, Louis’ strangely alluring personal assistant. He makes certain assumptions about Rashid's role in the dynamic of a vampire/human relationship. Rashid subverts all of his expectations.

“What?” Lestat said, his voice mumbling with confusion.
“Why were you trying to open the door?”
“Open the door?”“Yes Lestat! Thank God the deadbolt was in otherwise we’d be nursing some burns right now. What happened?”
“I-I don’t understand?” Lestat said his voice was small and weak. “What are we doing in the hall? I-I”
“Baby.” Louis said with comfort. “You were walking around, trying to open the door. You weren’t answering me, you really freaked me out. I need you to tell me what happened.”
Lestat’s breath began to quicken the same way it did when an anxiety attack began to smother him, spurred on by Louis mounting stress.
“I don’t- I don’t remember.” He said, punctuated with gasps

He‘s currently operating with a child’s black and white way of thinking and Daniel feels like the mixing drum of a cement truck, a heavy grey sludge spinning around inside him. His emotions have been blended together inextricably and for a second, he envies Armand.
He could do with someone untangling the knotted mess of his own feelings for him and explaining it all to him like he’s five but he’ll just have to work through it himself like an adult. Breaking it down into parts and starting with the most important pieces— the ones that have Armand wringing the washcloth anxiously in his hands—Daniel faces his melancholy and guilt head on.A Minecraft cake causes Daniel to reckon with morality and gives Armand a sugar rush."
