Very cute, very fated to be enemies and all that.” He punctuates this point with what Louis thinks are supposed to be jazz hands. And then, he goes in for the kill. “But no one seems to have picked up on how you and Lioncourt were at Tulane at the same time. You guys know each other?”

Smoke ignored his fumbling. He understood what he meant. For someone so weighed down....he had a way of being a lighthouse in a storm. Like beckoning ships at sea closer. Or rather pulling out the dying embers and giving fresh air. Thats what he was....fresh air. Something new.....a change of pace.
