He couldn't remember Irina's face. Or her voice.
His breathing began to grow irregular. He picked up his phone again and searched, like an idiot, for “age when signs of dementia start to appear.” His frantic heartbeats should have calmed down upon reading that symptoms usually appear after 65—and with his father, it had been like that. Grigori had started having problems near 70, and after 75, it was all downhill. As if his brain had been devoured from the inside out.
