Summary
Michael Wheeler is grappling with some very complicated feelings after witnessing his best friend not only gain superpowers, but save his life. He is terrified and in denial as feelings he has desperately tried to push down for years keep threatening to surface. He tries to pull back from Will, to distance himself from his feelings and avoid the shame of getting caught. That is, until he winds up in Vecna’s dreamscape, forced to confront his past and those very feelings with none other than Max Mayfield by his side to witness it all.
Basically a rewrite of Stranger Things season 5 volume 2 and 3 from Mike's pov!! I will be going episode by episode and only including the scenes Mike is in, rewritten through my understanding of him as a repressed closeted queer kid. I have added the byler we deserved but kept the initial plot and content consistent with what happens in the episodes because plot is not my strong suit and it is nice to have a base to work with. I plan to diverge from plot in episode 6 and I will most definitely be changing the finale, do not fret. Anyways, please enjoy my deep dive into Michael Wheeler's confusing brain. I love him so much and relate to him oh so very deeply !!

He returns to the same beach night after night, a place he’s visited too many times before. This time, instead of running, he crosses the water.

He wonders if it would be the right thing to do, if it really is okay to move on with his life when he knows his sister would always be stuck in one place? It's dumb, stupid to think about, he knows that, but— Will always led his life with an infuriating strong empathy, even though he was not given an ounce of that for all that he had gone through. He couldn't help but think about her, Eleven- Jane, his sister. What she would say if she saw him.

He's seeing Joyce and Hopper for the first time in 3 months. Hell, maybe he was waiting for Mike to call. Yes, this is all one big misunderstanding. He’ll drive over there tomorrow, and everything will be fine.
