Mike wasn't quite sure what Will had planned, although Mike's best guess was an art college. Somewhere Will Byers would feel safe.
To be honest, they hadn't talked at all. Well they did, just not like they used to. Especially after the whole, “Friends no thanks! Best friends!” Conversation in the long climb of the WSQK Tower, Will just drifted away.
Sometimes Mike would stay up late, trying to figure out who this Tammy person was, how to fix their long struggling friendship and who the hell Will Byers liked.

The party all go their separate ways for college, Mike stays behind in Hawkins. Haunted by Eleven's death and ...repressed feelings
Mike isolates himself from his friends for over a year before finally deciding to confront the things that keep him up at night.
Mike decides to visit Will at school in Chicago. He doesn't stick to their plans and runs into Will... and Carlton at a club. Needless to say this causes... issues.**The first few chapters are shorter, and mostly backstory to fill in the blanks in between the end of S5 and the beginning of my story!**
This is a byler love story, but it will be angsty and very very slow burn, there will be smut eventually. Your patience will be rewarded! ;)
UPDATE: Thank you all for the love! This story gets pretty dark but at the end of the day this IS a Byler LOVE STORY. These two Will have a happy ending... eventually ;)Series

A collection of letters Mike wrote to Will between Season 3 and Season 4 that he never sent. They've been collecting dust under Mike's bed ever since he decided he would only send his letters addressed to El. He told himself that it was because Will was too busy with his new life in Lenora that he wouldn't bother to read them anyway (after all, Will never seemed to answer his calls or bother calling Mike himself). But deep down, Mike knew that sending his letters to Will meant confronting a part of himself that he never wanted to bring to life—it meant facing the truth of what they really meant. Therefore, these letters lay regretfully underneath Mike's childhood bed for the rest of time, the smudges in the graphite perfectly preserved between pages and the coin-sized warps in paper from his tears dried up as if frozen in time.

“What?” Mike asked softly.
“Magic,” Will whispered, his voice barely audible, his eyes welling with tears. Mike didn’t know how to respond. He sat there in silence. “It’s–uh.. Not Magic.” He says back sounding a little flustered. Will had an awed look on his face, making his eyes shine under the moon.
“You ripped that Mind Flayer in half.” Max approached them then, her face bruised.
Or canon still happens because Mike was busy being sick. Hopper’s (false) death, Eleven losing her powers. But at least Billy is alive because Mike just came at the right time to kill the Meat Flayer or whatever disgusting shit that is.
