Dustin has been reckless and closed off since Eddie's death, Steve handles it as well as an emotionally constipated 20 year old can, but things with the Upside Down don't wait for them to get their shit together, they need to figure out how to bring Vecna too his knees, and soon; but when the assumptions they've built their foundation on crumbles, and they can tell upside from down no longer, how will they get through it? What lurks in the shadows of that other dimension and do they stand a chance?
Started this before season five came out, it's basically an alternative to it. The question I was desperate to see answered in the show never really was; how horrifying could the upside down be? I always saw ST as a horror show on the side, they are good at it! I wanted to make it more creepy tho, and I desperately wanted more Dustin and Steve!! So here we have grieving traumatised Dustin, a doing his best, but I'm not perfect Steve. Voice of reason Nancy, Robin is there for comfort. A comfort gay. The party is here, Hopper is here, everyone is here - except Eddie - and they are familyyyy.

Max Mayfield wanted a fresh start after finally defeating Vecna. A new location to forget all the traumatic bullshit she had been forced to endure for several years and a place to forget the friends she had lost. Now, moving in with her Uncle Jack in his apartment in Derry, Maine, she hopes that she can use her free time in the summer to finally catch up on the schoolwork she missed while in that damned coma. But the scars left by her time in Hawkins, both seen and unseen, make this difficult. To make things even more complicated, she starts to develop a sense of empathy with the redheaded girl across the hall and wonders if there might be a way to save her from her shitty home life. But, all of that may have to wait for the time being as it would seem that Derry is just as strange as Hawkins, if not stranger. And there might be an entity lurking beneath the town far worse than anything that emerged from the Upside Down.
(Basically takes some liberties with the end of season 5, as well as doing a crossover with IT. Essentially Max finds her becoming a member of the Losers Club and begins to wonder if there might be a way to save from suffering the same fate as the Party)

He always considered himself introspective, even reflective. But understanding his own feelings and dealing with them? No, that was something Will did, not him.
Basic feelings, like jealousy, anger, and frustration? They were easy to manage, to understand. He'd felt all of them for Steve Harrington since high school.
But there were certain feelings and sensations that Jonathan simply... couldn't understand. He didn't understand that strange warmth in his chest when Steve looked him in the eyes, nor that abnormal fixation that made him overthink Steve's irritatingly styled hair, his unnecessarily intense eyes, and the firm outline of the brunette's shoulders.
