Summary

Piper Scott and Nancy Wheeler have been best friends for years. The goody two-shoes and the wild child from the wrong side of the tracks are a strange match, and when their other best friend goes missing, it leads them down a path of no return. Other-worlds, possesed kids, monster hunting, and government conspiracies keep them busy and traumatized. All while Piper is falling for her best friend's ex boyfriend, who is so off limits it hurts.
Steve Harrington does not know how he got into this mess, and how he keeps staying in this mess, but soon feelings develop in surprising places and he'll do anything he can to protect the people he loves.

Summary
Five years after the fall of Vecna, the gates are closed, the Upside Down is gone, and Eleven is dead. In 1992, Mike is left behind, unraveling under the weight of grief, guilt, and the lingering sense that something is terribly wrong. As he obsessively rewrites the story of what happened, searching for meaning in forgotten details, cracks begin to form in his memory, and in his reality itself.
Back on November 6th, 1987, after Will’s attempt to tap into the hive mind leaves him comatose, Eleven dives into his subconscious to save him—and discovers secrets he never meant anyone, especially her, to know.
But Vecna sees them too. This time, he uses it to break them.
As past and present blur, and Mike and Will become entangled in ways neither fully understands, the truth begins to emerge: nothing is as it seems, and the story is far from finished.

Or, the party(and its extended members) gearing up to face the Mind Flayer and finally eliminate Vecna, but Will Byers and his unsevered connection to the hivemind and arguably unsevered feelings for Mike Wheeler complicate everything.

Will kept reading the words written in a hurry on the board by his English teacher, Ms. Kent: “so it goes, so it goes, so it goes.” The full topic of the lesson was “So it goes: life and death in Slaughterhouse-Five,” but his eyes kept drifting back to that phrase, which seemed to encapsulate how he had been feeling for the past couple of years. Six months ago, a massive rift to hell opened in the center of Hawkins, taking many lives, Max is still in a coma, and here he is, sitting in his English class at 8:42, listening to a discussion about how Vonnegut used dark humor to make the horrors of war feel surreal and absurd. Isn’t this absurd? The ground split apart, Vecna is somewhere there doing who knows what in the Upside Down, yet here he is wasting his time at Hawkins High. “So it goes,” he thinks.
Or six months after the “earthquake,” Will Byers is trying to balance Hawkins High with his own darkening thoughts. When Vecna reemerges, Chance, a classmate who offered to help him with Geometry, gets drawn into the horrors the Upside Down hides.

"Woah, woah!" Mike throws his hands up, nearly hitting Will as he recoils from their accusatory stares. The guilt is still burning in his chest, but defensiveness is a quicker shield. "Guys, I don't know what he was talking about! I thought the shadow was all in my head and lied about that, yes, but I'm not hiding anything else!"
OR: Mike's denial of his feelings for Will finally catches up to him as Vecna pulls out all the stops to ensure his plans come to fruition, hell-bent on disrupting the group's carefully maintained harmony.
Three weeks after Max's near-death and miraculous survival, the Party is unexpectedly dragged back into a world of nightmares. And this time, all of them getting out of this alive doesn't feel like it will be easy.
