Summary
The storm over Mike’s head brews. The gray clouds darken to black as if something’s burning—but there’s no smoke. The ground trembles beneath him, quaking with anger. Overhead, a tornado forms, churning in the sky.
More than one—a dozen, maybe more—tornadoes form all at once. Mike lets out a cry, not sure if it’s rain or tears streaming down his cheeks. The downpour grows heavier, blurring everything into gray, while the earth shakes harder beneath him. More tornados spin into existence. Strangely, it feels like a weight is being lifted from his shoulders, as if this storm—no, this disaster—is somehow soothing.
Or after season 2, with the heightened/extreme stress and the pores from the tunnels. Mike awakens his powers, being the first mutant on Earth in X–Men terminology. This can be a fix–it or some kind for the next season maybe…

Summary
Will stared off into the distance, trembling. He didn’t respond until Mike placed a hand on his shoulder, which made him flinch. “Sorry—I… you…” Will stammered, his voice cracking. “You just did that.”
“What?” Mike asked softly.
“Magic,” Will whispered, his voice barely audible, his eyes welling with tears. Mike didn’t know how to respond. He sat there in silence. “It’s–uh.. Not Magic.” He says back sounding a little flustered. Will had an awed look on his face, making his eyes shine under the moon.
“You ripped that Mind Flayer in half.” Max approached them then, her face bruised.
Or canon still happens because Mike was busy being sick. Hopper’s (false) death, Eleven losing her powers. But at least Billy is alive because Mike just came at the right time to kill the Meat Flayer or whatever disgusting shit that is.

“Will—just tell me the truth. Are you guys really leaving for California?” Mike gasped, eyes wide and voice shaking.
Will froze, glancing back at Mike, his own eyes big with surprise. “I—Mike, where did you hear that?” he stammered, shutting the door behind them.
Mike tried to steady his breath, the panic heavy on his chest. “I—I overheard my mom on the phone,” he managed. “She said you were leaving. Will… Is it true?”
He hoped Will wouldn’t notice the tears in his eyes—tried to tell himself it was just rainwater dripping from his hair, running down his cheeks and soaking the doormat. None of that mattered, though, because Will was leaving. Leaving him.
Without Mike.
Or Mike wrestles with the guilt of failing everyone, being unable to save Hopper and losing Will as his family moves away to California. After all, how can a ship remain tethered without its anchor to keep it steady and strong?"
(set in the three month gap before Will, Joyce, Eleven, and Jonathan leaves to Lenora, California)
