"A party?" Seth repeated, furrowing his brows at Kyle. Besides the fact that Kyle should know Seth would not enjoy such social activities, there really did not seem to be any reason for him to be there. "Isn't the party meant to deepen the bond between you and your team or something?"
Kyle nodded. "It is, but I think it should also be a good opportunity for us to celebrate your promotion!"
Or: Anobros attend a party together and it ends catastrophically bad (for Kyle)
Author's rating: 9/10 - Honestly one of my favourite works in this fandom, especially the first chapter! The only reason I'm not actually giving a ten is I think because of the second chapter. While it isn't bad, I definitely feel like I handled the reveal wrong somehow, or maybe it's just not detailed enough? I like the last two chapters, even though they just add context to the world this takes place in.

"I appreciate it, but no." He quickly said, shaking his head as he attempted to stop Seth's bleeding. "I'm not interested."
"…" Hermes was back at studying him. "I could teach you how to use your Nodes effectively though."
"I'm not interested." Kyle repeated himself, impassive. "I would rather take over the orphanage than go and risk my life in gates."
Or: Kyle's (very speculative, very self-indulgent) reasons to hate anomalies and go into this line of work.
