Summary
It's been five and a half years since The Board was overthrown and the mission of The Unreliable came to an end. The past year and a half ex-OSI vicar Maximillian DeSoto has lived a comfortable, largely domestic life with his wife Selene "Hawthorne" DeSoto. The couple leave and prepare for a long mission when Parvati reaches out to them and seems uncomfortable about the favour she needs to ask them in person. The couple can't leave their friend in clear need of help and depart for The Groundbreaker though the request Parvati made was certainly not one they were expecting.

(While my Captain has the original name “Rhea,” she almost exclusively goes by Alex Hawthorne to keep up the ruse for anyone who hasn’t met the original Hawthorne personally. Most characters will refer to her as Hawthorne or Cap, and I honestly don’t know if it will even come up, but this is just a note in case someone gets confused. I’m publishing this as it is written so I’m flying by the seat of my pants on my first Outer Worlds fic!)
