Gaojun returns after taking a two year journey to find that Shouxue is still just as hesitant towards him...but she's learned to open up to all her other friends who now reside at Ye Ming Palace. Will she let him in, too? Will Wen Ying be able to stand seeing the woman he loves being courted by the Emperor himself? But, more pressingly, will Shouxue free herself from the talons of Niao Lian before she is completely consumed? And, of course, the ever-present threat...will the Owl come back?
Multiple points of view but mostly Shouxue and Gaojun. There's action here but also I just really love all these characters vibing together and I want more of that. I'm sorry Wen Ying I love him and I don't want to see him suffer but also dynamics like these are fun to write so suffer he shall.
